Base Titanium Limited,
the Kenyan subsidiary of the Australian company Base Resources Limited,
is developing the Kwale Mineral Sands Project approximately 50km south
of Mombasa.
The project is funded and construction commenced in the 3rd quarter of 2011.
Production is scheduled to start during the second half of 2013.

Vacancies ‘
We have the following vacancies within our Maintenance Department:
- Certified Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic Ref;HRMHEI/513
- Certified Heavy Mobile Equipment Serviceman Ref: HRMHE2/513
- Certified Heavy Mobile Equipment Auto Electrician Ref: HRMHE3/513
The overall purpose of these roles is to maintain and repair mining equipment either in a workshop environment or in the field.
They will work with members of the crew to minimize equipment downtime and ensure all work is completed to a high standard.
Duties Include:
- Maintenance and repair of mining equipment.
- Fault finding and diagnostics of mining equipment.
- Ensure mining equipment availability.
- Promote a safe working environment.
- Record all work done in the work order system and all parts used in carrying out daily duties.
- Develop teamwork and ensure team performance.
- Ensure effective shift handover.
Requirements for All Roles:
- Must be committed to safety and have a positive attitude towards safety.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the repair and maintenance of Heavy Mobile Equipment.
- Proven experience in mining or similar heavy industry.
- Must have strong experience with Caterpillar Mining and Construction Equipment.
- Possess Strong communication skills and the ability to work safely and as part of a team.
- Must be willing to relocate to Ukunda or surrounding area.
- Current Kenya Driver’s License is essential.
Specific Requirements for the Mechanics and Servicemen:
- Certification as a Mechanic from a recognized institution in Kenya
- Sound and demonstrable understanding of Engines, Transmissions, Drivetrains and Hydraulics
Requirements for Auto Electricians:
- Certification as an Auto Electrician from a recognized institution in Kenya
- Sound and demonstrable understanding of Electro Hydraulic Systems, Auto Electrical Systems and Auto Air Conditioning Systems.
