Declaration Officer - Mombasa, Kenya Job in Kenya

Job Title: Declaration Officer -  Mombasa
 
Serves: Logistics Manager
 
Employment Status: Renewable Contract

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Preparation of import/export documents
  • Verification of goods at the airport and at the ICD
  • Taking of files for the approval of the different entries
  • Clearance and removal of goods from the airport
  • Timely clearance of goods from the various sheds to avoid late documentation charges, storage charges and demurrages
  • Processing of export files at ICD
  • Processing of  bonds at times towers
  • Processing of exemption at relevant Government Ministries
  • Processing of  perfection documents making sure the entries are released at the various sheds
  • Note and act if there is any breakages, delays e.t.c for the cargo and write report with the warehouse if there is any breakages
  • Make delivery notes and ensure goods have been delivered to the client
  • Making timely reports to the office on the progress of cargo clearance
  • Lodging perfection entries and preparation of bonds
  • Lodging of entries and IDFs in the system
  • Follow up correspondences between various statutory bodies and other parties including KPA, KRA and KEPHIS
  • Properly file the documents after the process has been completed.
  • Be in charge of border clearance including lodging of entries, taking the documents to the border for approval and clearance.
  • Any other duties that may be required of him or her.
Salary  Kshs. 25,000.00 per month

Shipping Officer

Chai Trading Company Limited is a wholly owned subsidiary Company of Kenya Tea Development Agency (Holdings) Ltd (KTDA) located in Mombasa. 

We are a logistics and trading company specializing in warehousing, freight forwarding to both local and international destinations and global tea trade. 

We are looking for an experienced professional to fill the following position:
 
Shipping Officer

The successful candidate will be required to ensure efficiency in documentation and dispatch of products to different destinations, quality service to customers and safe custody of accountable documents.  

He/She will be expected to discharge the following key responsibilities among others:
  • Co-ordinate and direct all shipping activities as per the company policies and procedures
  • verifying shipping documents before dispatching to users
  • obtaining required licenses for shipping operations
  • Oversee smooth running of exports:- obtain shipping instructions from clients, book space in vessels, liaise with private warehouses on shipments, consolidate teas in the stuffing base, facilitate prompt collection of containers for stuffing, organize container inspection and handle all shipping correspondence
  • ensuring timely delivery of products to customers as per approved instructions
  • Oversee prompt clearance of imports from port
  • Co-ordinate local transport and warehousing, delivery to the customer and processing of payment for contractors
  • Oversee CTCL operations, facilitation of blending and packing requirements
  • Prepare and dispatch prompt cargo status reports to clients
  • Prepare and promptly submit weekly, monthly and quarterly reports of activities
  • Build and maintain collaborative relation with client, potential partners, regulatory bodies and all other stake holders
  • Prompt attendance to clients queries and claims
  • Any other duties which may be allocated by the management
Qualifications / Skills / Experience
  • Bachelors Degree, preferably B.Com/BA
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Shipping, Clearing & Forwarding and Warehousing
  • Proficiency in computer application packages
  • Conversant with Customs Simba and KWATOs systems
  • At least 5 years experience in a similar job position
  • Possess excellent transferable skills with demonstrable record of achievement in past roles
  • Ability to manage and deliver all services within a defined time frame
  • Consummate team player and goal oriented strategist

Clearing and Forwarding Logistics Officer

Our client is a leading manufacturer in the motor vehicle industry. 
They are looking for a Clearing and Forwarding Logistics Officer to work in their organization that assembles motorcycles. 
The main function of this position is to facilitate the shipping of assembly materials from different countries of origin to the local company.

Job Responsibilities
  • Oversee the purchasing procedures and ensure timely delivery of materials
  • Send negotiations request for quotations to shipping agencies
  • Check fiscal prices, custom requirements and clearing fees
  • Study cost estimations to get the optimal and most efficient shipping, transport and clearing method
  • Track shipments and follow up with the forwarder regarding arrival dates at the ports
  • Send clear instructions to the shipper regarding the clearing documentation as per the requirements with the consultation of the purchasing department
  • Follow up closely on the customs/ clearance formalities and delivery process
  • Ensure all shipments are received in a timely manner 
Required Qualifications
  • Diploma in Clearing and Forwarding/ Logistics Management

They are looking for a Frame Assembly Supervisor to work in their organization that assembles motorcycles. 
The main focus of this position is to assemble and to oversee the assembly of motorcycles as per instructions provided.

Job Responsibilities
  • Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in assembling motor vehicles
  • Directs workers in assembly, inspection, and repair techniques, utilizing knowledge of assembly procedures and specifications
  • Confers with other supervisory personnel to coordinate activities of individual departments within plant
  • Trains operators as required by the manufacture plan of motorcycles and as per the specific requirements of the organization 
  • Maintain the flow of work ensuring that the work is completed efficiently and to the requirements of the organization
  • Ensure all the required documentation is completed at every process
  • Maintain high levels of carefulness ensuring all the work is completed as per the required quality standards

(Salary: Kshs 65,000-75,000)

Our client is a leading manufacturer in the motor vehicle industry. 
They are looking for a Material Service Supervisor to work in their organization that assembles motorcycles. 
The purpose of the job will be to coordinate handling of raw material for assembly of motorcycles, planning, determining, and controlling material requirements; maintaining inventory database. 
They will report to the Factory Manager.

Job Responsibilities
  • Receive of CKD, unpacking and distributing of parts for assembly of motorcycles
  • Maintain the flow of work ensuring that the work is completed efficiently and to the requirements of the organization
  • Ensure all the required documentation is completed at every process
  • Maintain high levels of carefulness ensuring all the work is completed as per the required quality standards
  • Adhere to and enforce given instructions as well as safety requirements required in the factory
  • Continuously monitor the work checking for a change in the quality of the information
  • Ensure that sales and production targets are met in a timely manner
Required Qualifications
  • 2-3 years working in the automobile Industry and/ or warehousing
  • Diploma, preferably but not restricted to Mechanical or Automotive Engineering
  • Inventory or Stock Management course would be an added advantage

  • Ability to troubleshoot

  • Positive attitude
