Processing Manager Job in Nigeria

Our client, the largest dairy farm in West Africa, based in Nigeria is looking for suitable candidates to fill the position of a Processing Manager.

Overall Purpose

The position holder will be responsible for planning and co-ordinating production activities, product development aimed at producing good and standardizing quality products and overseeing all production activities in accordance with good manufacturing practice.

Key Accountabilities
  • Plan, coordinate and supervise overall process aimed at producing high quality dairy products.
  • Control production, budgeting and planning based on and at meeting production targets
  • Control and plan overall input material usage and labour utilisation in the production process
  • Coordinate and Contribute to the other related departments on varying activities such as quality control of products, cold room storage management, data base management and other projects as they develop
  • Coordinate with marketing departments for a smooth integration of production forecasting and other product development management.
  • Train direct reports and other departmental staff in all processes aimed at producing high quality dairy products.
  • To provide leadership to the processing team thus ensuring, so far as possible, they become an effective team.
  • Ensure compliance and participation of Hygiene, Safety, Stewardship and Regulatory policies, while setting high standards of professional conduct
  • To manage the career development of the team, by developing coordinated plans for each team member, thus ensuring the department is seen as a developer of high caliber individuals who progress within the organisation
  • Setting standard operations procedures and continually reviewing production processes with a view towards increasing their effectiveness and efficiency via business improvement methodologies (supporting continuous improvement in business processes).
  • Preparing periodic reports on processing activities

  1. The Leadership Team
  2. Other departmental Heads
  3. All levels of staff of the department the Production Manager downwards.
  4. External and regulatory organisations.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Knowledge/Experience
  • A graduate in Food Technology or related sciences or equivalent with at least 5 years post graduate experience in dairy processing activities
  • Familiar with both plastic bottling and aseptic packaging of dairy product
Skills
  1. Ability to communicate effectively with a wide internal audience from General Manager downwards.
  2. A good understanding of the use and application of IT and a thorough knowledge various modes of dairy packaging.
  3. Capacity to adapt behaviour to cope with significantly different environments and culture.
  4. Strong creative and analytic thinking, communication and influencing skills.
  5. Ability to adapt activities in unexpected change of conditions
  6. Good leadership, interpersonal and communication skills

Agronomist Job in Nigeria

Our client, a large horticultural farm based in Nigeria, is looking for suitable candidates to fill the position of an Agronomist.

Overall Purpose

The position will oversee;
  1. Production by growing in greenhouse and shade hall, high quality vegetables and flowers in all aspects of crop husbandry; - soil cultivation, sowing, planting, pruning, harvest, crop protection, climate control, post harvest handling.
  2. Prepare the cropping plans in collaboration with the marketing department. He/she is to also determine the total expected yield. The incumbent will also recommend technical improvements with related costs estimates and benefits and will implement improved or new production techniques for greenhouse, shade hall and open field.
  3. He/she is to establish the fertilizer levels and fertilizer settings and its specifications. He/she is also responsible for preparing the procurement need for farm inputs such as fertilizers, crop protection chemicals, seeds, strings, and other production materials.
Key Accountabilities
  • Operate and manage the greenhouse system
  • Plan, coordinate and supervise technical processes aimed at producing quality vegetables and flowers
  • Contribute to the other related activities such as quality testing, cold room management, data base management and other projects as they develop
  • Coordinate with marketing and finance departments for a smooth integration of total project
  • Train agronomists and other workers in all processes aimed at producing quality vegetables and flowers
  • Train agronomist and electricians in operating the climate control computers.
  • To provide leadership to the growing team thus ensuring, so far as possible, they become an effective team.
  • Ensure compliance and participation of Safety, Stewardship and Regulatory policies, while setting high standards of professional conduct
  • To manage the career development of the team, by developing coordinated plans for each team member, thus ensuring the department is seen as a developer of high caliber individuals who progress within the organisation.
  • Continually reviewing farm processes with a view towards increasing their effectiveness and efficiency via business improvement methodologies (supporting continuous improvement in business processes).

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Knowledge/Experience
  • A graduate agronomist or equivalent with at least 6 years post graduate experience
  • Familiar with hydroponics production of vegetables in greenhouses and also flowers
Skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide internal audience from General Manager downwards.
  • A good understanding of the use and application of IT and a thorough knowledge of greenhouse standards.
  • Capacity to adapt behaviour to cope with significantly different environments and culture.
  • Strong creative thinking, communication and influencing skills.
  • Ability to adapt activities in unexpected change of conditions
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
