Our client is a company in Djibouti East Africa with a new startup of a pasta plant. 

The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating and running a high margin productivity portfolio of products that enables the short and long term growth of the company.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Guide & steer the strategic direction of the company.
  • Responsible for P&L and reporting to owners
  • Strategy Formulation and Execution of the company with a workforce of 70+ employees
  • Formulate the strategic direction of the company.
  • Initiated and launching and branding of the company
  • Achieved a record of sales, production and a net profit in line with business plan
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Food technologist or mechanical engineering degree would be a plus
  • MBA or management equivalent degree
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the manufacturing or plant management
  • Preferably management of pasta plant ideally PAVAN plant systems
  • Strong experience of management
  • English or French proficiency

Production Manager
 
Responsibilities
  • Recommend efficient, time-saving project production flows
  • Create detailed print specifications and Recommend the best printers for the specific project
  • Send requests for estimates to printers and follow up, Select and negotiate with vendors to agree on best price, quality, and due date
  • Explain technical print processes to the design and production teams
  • Create and manage print production schedules
  • Track and control costs, especially alterations
  • Review the project at internal and printer proof stages
  • Communicate the designer’s requirements to vendors
  • Lead print checks in collaboration with designer and client
  • Examine finished samples and approve quality before delivery to client
  • Advocate for the designer, the design, the project, and the client
  • Know many print processes and can suggest alternate ways to get similar results
  • Have near-encyclopedic familiarity with paper types suitable for your project
  • Stay abreast of new or improved technologies that can benefit projects
  • Guide the project from what the designer envisioned into the printed product
  • Troubleshoot and problem-solve on the fly
  • Anticipate pitfalls and steer the project around them
  • Manage printing stock and ensure smooth running of the department.
  • Have a passion for the craft of fine printing, fit and finish
  • Make you, your design, and the finished product look great!
Requirements:
  • At least 2 years as a Production manager in a busy Advertising/Printing Company.
  • Experience working as a creative designer in an advertising agency preferred.
  • Bachelors Degree in Arts Studies
  • Must be computer literate
  • Should have previous experience in operating large format printing machines.
  • Great leadership skills, must be able to motivate staff and lead the team to give top notch performance.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrate a desire to make decisions, take ownership and make judgement calls.
  • Self motivated, good team player and excellent telephone skills.
  • Strong sense of confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Display good presentation skills i.e. know how to make presentations using powerpoint etc.
  • Needs to be extremely aggressive and strong minded and shouldn’t get distracted easily and be able to listen and face people confidently.

Role Overview: The Production manager is responsible of achieving agreed production in terms of quality, safety, quantity, cost, timeliness and people morale so as to ensure achievement of high quality products at optimum cost in a safe environment by highly motivated staff

Responsibilities
  • Overseeing the production process,
  • Drawing up a production schedule as per the sales departments needs.
  • Ensuring that the formulas are cost effective;
  • Ensure availability of quality and required quantities of feeds at all times.
  • Monitoring raw materials standards and implementing quality-control measures in liaison with the purchases department.
  • Ensuring that health and safety guidelines are followed within your department.
  • Ensure punctuality of all staff in all shifts.
  • Ensure accurate posting of products produced into the accounting system.
  • Ensure continuity of production during the shift change overs.
  • Ensure accurate weighing of finished products in all shifts.
  • Maintain a diary of events per shift noting any activity that contributed to good or bad performance.
  • Ensure the human resource hired is used effectively to cover set time lines.
  • Any other duties assigned to you by your superiors
  • Recording and Resolving Customer Complaints on feeds;
  • Conducting market intelligence to monitor competitor actions
Person Specifications
  • A Degree in Animal Health/ Production/ Engineering or Related field.
  • Over 3 years experience in Animal feeds manufacturing environment preferably at management level
  • Hands on experience on animal feed formulations.
  • Must be a holder of at least a certificate or Diploma in Animal health and
  • Nutrition from a recognized institution;
  • Experience working with animal feeds manufacturing concern, major
  • distributor or Agro-vet of at least 3 years;
  • Simple, Outgoing, pleasant and easy to get along with personality who can
  • easily interact with farmers;
  • Aged between the aged of 20 - 40 years;
  • Must have good communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Have Proficiency in basic computer software applications;
  • Self-driven and able to work independently with minimum supervision;
  • Dynamic, Innovative and Creative person who is solution oriented;
  • Up to date with developments and trends in the animal health
  • industry/sector;
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by management from time to time

Summary:

Job Purpose:   

To manage and control plant operations consistent with cost profit, quality and productivity objectives.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate production of quality products in line with agreed production plans and cost   
  • Ensure KPI are achieved.
  • Set production targets for the various products and continuously align them to prevailing requirements/conditions.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of Plant and Machinery.
  • Ensure optimum stock holding of all materials and spares consistent with requirements.
  • Ensure that Safety, Health and Environment regulations and rules are adhered to.
  • Ensure site is operating within the agreed budget.
  • Oversee work performance of staff including their deployment, Learning and development and welfare in line with company policy.

Experience:

  • A strong work ethic and a sense of urgency in solving problems; 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English;  
  • Strong team management and influencing skills;

Our client is a leading Japanese motor vehicle and motor cycle manufacturing company setting base in Kenya. 
They are seeking to recruit a well seasoned Factory Manager in the same field.

The Factory manager has the overall responsibility of supervising plant or factory operations by leading a technical resources team and effectively co-operating with various peer groups within the company.  
He/she will also be expected to maintain accurate quality and quantity control to ensure the on-time delivery of produced products in order to satisfy the clients.
