Lead Facilitator - World Bank


The World Bank is hosting the Nairobi Water Hackathon this October 2011 at iHub. The Water Hackathon is a weekend long event during which software developers will come together to brainstorm and program solutions for water sector problems.
The World Bank is seeking to hire a Lead Facilitator to engage Kenya’s IT community, promote the Hackathon and manage the event. The Lead Facilitator will also report on the event and its impact.
Detailed task description
The tasks of the Lead Facilitator will focus on, but not be limited to:

  • Promoting the event among Kenya’s IT community(universities, freelancers, software companies, skilled amateurs etc.) and ensure broad participation in the Hackathon
  • Engaging relevant online communities throughFacebook, Twitter, mailing-lists and so on
  • Contributing to the discussion and vetting of suggested “hackable” problems
  • Developing local press releases and generating media attention 
  • Organizing promotional material (e.g. Water Hackathon T-shirts)
  • Contributing regular (at least bi-weekly) content to Nairobi Water Hackathon website
  • Taking charge of event management and facilitating the Hackathon event 
  • Recording the event (writing, video, photographs) and collecting participants’ stories and the impact of the solutions they have developed
Qualifications
  • Excellent knowledge of and contacts in Kenya’s IT community
  • Proven experience in event organization and facilitation
  • Bachelor or Masters Degree
