Program Description:
Research Care and Training Program (RCTP) is collaboration between the
Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI), University of California, San
Francisco (UCSF) and University of Washington (UW).
RCTP leads the
Family AIDS Care and Education Services (FACES) program, a comprehensive
HIV Prevention, Care and Treatment program working in 100 clinics in
Nyanza Province, Kenya.
RCTP
is seeking motivated, proactive individuals to fill the following
positions in the Sustainable East African Research on Community Health
(SEARCH) Study.
SEARCH
is a five-year cluster randomized trial to test whether universal ART
can improve health, Educational, and economic outcomes.
We are going to be conducting a household census in 12 communities and annual multi-disease diagnostic health campaigns.
We will also be supporting ART delivery through FACES clinics.

Duties and responsibilities
- Conduct meetings and communication with the tracking coordinators and local leaders and community units
- Locating eligible study participants through the use of GPS devices in their households.
- Conducting household socio-economic survey interviews through the use of tablets in line with the protocols and SOPs with support from tracking and study coordinator.
- Other duties as assigned by Tracking Coordinator, Study coordinator or Study Principal Investigator
Key Requirements
- Diploma in Community Health, Social Work, and Community Development, Computer Science, Counseling or any other related field.
- Experience in conducting research will be an advantage
- Experience in conducting survey interviews and working in the community will be an advantage.
- Competent with computer software applications including Microsoft office and internet based application
- Must be keen and attentive to details and have ability to follow instructions and procedures properly.
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English, Kiswahili and Dholuo required.
- Must be non-judgmental and flexible to mix with all cadres of people.
- Must be able to ride a motorcycle or willing to learn how to ride a motorcycle.
- Must be flexible to work for long hours and at times over the weekends
- Applicants should be preferably resident in the Districts in which the study will be conducted
- A cover letter stating current work (if applicable), current salary and date available to start work on the project
- A current CV with names and telephone contacts for at least 2 referees
- Copies of academic and professional certificates and copy of the latest pay slip
- At least two recommendation letters, preferably from previous employers
