Our client a Law Firm in Nairobi is looking to fill the following positions:
Lawyer
Key Areas of Responsibilities:
Attending court to file litigation documents and represent the firm as may be required from time to time
Handling correspondences on legal aspects and recommending appropriate legal actions
Participate in drawing and vetting commercial contracts, leases and other legal instruments.
Support investigations and maintain active liaison with security agencies to conclude investigations
Document legal activities and maintain an up-to-date legal actions and issues database for quick reference and guide to management
Other legal and related tasks as may be assigned from time to time
Required qualifications, skills and attributes:
LLB degree from a recognized institution
Advocate of the High Court of Kenya in active practice
At least two years experience in litigation
Knowledge of conveyancing will be added advantage
Works well in an environment with firm deadlines; results oriented
Perform multiple tasks effectively
Able to work both independently and as part of a team
Strong analytical skills required
Capable of making timely, independent decisions while consulting as appropriate
Confident, courageous and persuasive in court and during negotiations
Maintains strict confidentiality in all matters
Possess advanced skills in customer service as they relate to legal concepts and provides effective solutions
Must be well organized, detail-oriented and personable with a professional demeanour
Excellent communication skills necessary to interact with other lawyers and clients by both telephone and written correspondence
Accountant
Key Areas of Responsibilities:
Assist in the preparation of the firm’s monthly financial statements.
Prepare monthly work papers on all essential balance sheet and income statement accounts
Respond to various ad hoc requests, such as general ledger summary and detail reports
Prepare appropriate journal entries for depreciation, transfers, etc.
Assist in payroll, Statutory procedures and deductions
Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time
Required qualifications, skills and attributes:
Minimum CPA Part 2
At least 2 years experience
With Tally accounting software experience.
Knowledge in statutory procedures and deductions.
Must be a person of integrity
Must have the ability to work independently and as part of a team
Maintains strict confidentiality in all matters
Secretary
Key Areas of Responsibilities:
Provide support to a variety of staff members and departments
Prepare correspondence
Assist lawyers or paralegals with legal research
Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time
Required qualifications, skills and attributes:
Mature & Responsible
Must have excellent communication skills
Have attention to detail
Must have speed on dictation
Excellent typing skills
Maintains strict confidentiality in all matters
Experience in front desk is an added advantage
