Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the positions of County Enforcement Officers (50 positions) in the County Government of Nyandarua.
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the enforcement government laws,
  • Enforce effective revenue collection by revenue officers,
  • Ensure peace and order in public meetings and rallies,
  • Assist building inspectorate in enforcing compliance with approved building and construction by-laws, and
  • Carry out any other relevant duties and responsibilities assigned by supervisor(s).
Requirements for appointment:
  • Must have been trained at the National Youth Service(NYS),
  • Should not have stayed for more than 5 years since pass out from the NYS college,
  • Must have prove of training/serving at the NYS,
  • Must have attained KCSE grade D and above,
  • Those with specialized courses from NYS or any other recognized institution may have an added advantage, and
  • State your Sub-County and Ward in Nyandarua.
General Conditions:
  • Must be a Kenya citizen,
  • Must be a resident of Nyandarua County,
  • Must have the ability to interpret and implement the Constitution of Kenya to maximize citizens’ welfare benefits, and
  • Conform to Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.

Job Profile: As part of a large HR team this role is the sole HR representative in Africa working in our country office and regularly travelling to provide support in our other African country offices.

Your role: Your key responsibilities in this role will be to partner our leaders and managers, developing their capacity and accompanying them of specific projects.

 Working as part of a larger HR team based in London, you will be working as the HR representative in Nairobi and will therefore need to be able to work as part of remote team whilst self- managing yourself day to day. 


You will regularly travel to other countries on the continent to give advice, support and training in our country offices. 


You will also take part in virtual meetings with your HR colleagues which will include regular peer support and learning.

Your profile: You will have a proven track record of providing HR support in a multi country and cultural setting. 

With experience and understanding of employment law across the continent and an ability to work in partnership with managers to implement corporate policy in the country context. 

You will also be a strong change management advocate with experience of stakeholder management and the ability to work with leadership teams to develop and implement cultural and structural changes.

Able to advise on employment matters, internal communications, to coach managers and facilitate training sessions.

Data Collection Assistants

Seeking Expressions of Interest for Data Collection Assistance in Somalia
 
International Business and Technical Consultants Inc. (IBTCI) Somalia Program Support Services (SPSS) is seeking expressions of interest from data collection and survey research organizations. 

The selected firm will provide independent collection of data for a final evaluation of a USAID-funded program providing assistance to agriculture and livestock activities in two regions (Middle Shebelle and Lower Shebelle) of the South Central Somalia. 

The award would be for approximately two months, from July to August 2015.
 
The organization will be responsible for conducting the following activities: Collection of data from around 50 extension workers and 700 farmers of Afgoi, Awdhegle and Balad districts in South-Central Somalia on food availability and farmer incomes. 

Approximately 20 focus groups will be held with crop sellers/vendors, veterinary service providers, agro-dealers, milk processors and feed producers.

 
Requirements and selection criteria:
  • The organization must demonstrate relevant technical experience in gathering and analyzing data, especially data based on agricultural programs.
  • The organization must demonstrate the ability to operate in insecure regions of Somalia, including Mogadishu and South Central Somalia.
  • The organization should provide written references from current or previous clients that attest to their competency in the requested services.

The International Potato Center (CIP) is seeking a Research Assistant to provide technical support in the areas of analytical chemistry and food microbiology in sweetpotato roots and leaves and their processed products. 

The candidate should have experience in food safety, food microbiology and analytical chemistry. 

The candidate must also have an eye for detail, an ability to work on their own initiative, excellent organizational and communication skills and a positive attitude.

The Center: CIP is a not-for-profit international agricultural research organization with a global mandate to conduct research on potatoes, sweetpotatoes, Andean root and tuber crops, and sustainable management of natural resources.
 
 
The Position: The Research Assistant will be based in Nairobi, Kenya at the CIP Regional office. The position will be part of CIP’s new food science team operating in the Biosciences eastern and southern Africa (BecA) ILRI Hub and will report to the CIP Food Scientist.
 
The successful candidate will have: A Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science and Technology or Biological Sciences with at least 1 year work experience in analytical chemistry or food microbiology.

Responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
  • Assist in collection of samples, undertaking swabs, media preparation, sample preparation, plating, plate reading and waste disposal.
  • To carry out microbiological testing of production samples and raw materials in accordance with site testing regimes / sampling plans in a timely manner
  • Pathogen analysis using primarily traditional and other various pathogen detection methods.
  • Accurately documenting, recording and reviewing data using computer software systems.
  • To carry out environmental microbiological testing and validations
  • To assist with follow up and close out of all adverse / out of specification results
  • To assist our partners in the reporting and trending of testing results to the technical team, production and customers as required.
  • To participate in providing support in the site procedure audits
  • Work with the Food Scientists and Research Associate to ensure implementation, maintenance and improvements in the laboratory quality system procedures, testing methods and records
  • Assist with basic analytical chemistry analysis such as operation of HPLC, UV-VIS, NIRS, GCMS, LCMS;
  • Maintenance and daily verification of laboratory instrumentation.
  • Ensure observation of good laboratory practice including drafting risk assessments and surveillance of laboratory users’ activity;
Conditions: This is a Nationally Recruited Staff (NRS) position based at CIP’s Nairobi Office. 

The position is on a 2 years fixed term contract and may be renewed subject to availability of funding.
