UI / Web Designer

The UI / Web Designer works on various projects to build prototype user interface designs for usability testing, client review and sales demonstrations, as well as serve as a knowledge resource for the latest trends and technologies for web- and standards-based user interface development. 
You will work to actively assist in improving the usability, usefulness, and desirability of applications in collaboration with Managers, Development teams and Sales Consultants.

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with usability team members, product managers, development teams and other internal stakeholders to build storyboards, proof-of-concept mockups, demos and prototypes of proposed and  planned applications and features.
  • Collaborate in the definition of user interface design standards for applications, to optimize ease-of-use and achieve an integrated and consistent look and feel.
  • Conduct ongoing research of web-based user interface development best practices.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of web standards and technologies, including: CSS, HTML, JavaScript
  • Knowledge of usability and coding practices for accessibility
  • Strong web graphics production capability
  • Creative approach to problem solving, innovation and issue resolution
  • Superior interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate actively and proactively with others in a cross-functional team
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing, verbally and as a presenter
  • Self-motivated and self-managed with a high degree of analytical ability and intellectual curiosity
  • Strong attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering highly-polished web-based prototypes under tight time constraints

Front-End Web Developer Job in Kenya

We are seeking a talented front-end web developer to build web sites. 
Ideal candidates will have a can-do attitude, passion for technology, extensive XHTML/CSS development experience, and will be able to get up to speed quickly.

Required Skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment, from making pixel perfect sites that meet the design requirements to integrating code with the back-end development team.
  • Strong working knowledge of Photoshop / Illustrator; able to cutup comps from the design team.
  • Strong XHTML skills; knowledge of how to use appropriate hooks in XHTML to limit the amount of classes and ID’s required on a page.
  • Deep understanding of CSS inheritance and how to use it to your advantage.
  • Knowledge of HTML5 and CSS3
  • Ability to make responsive websites i.e. those that are adaptable to any device such as mobile, tablet, etc
  • A good ideology for managing maintainable, scalable and cross-browser code across large sites.
  • In-depth knowledge of IE quirks and how to address them.
  • Experience working with jQuery and/or other JavaScript libraries.
  • An understanding of the popular Content Management Systems (CMS's)

Relationships externally: MoMS/MoPHS personnel, other governmental, UN agencies counterparts.
 
Contract Period: 10 months
 
Salary: Kshs 65,000 per month
 
Benefits: Insurance cover, house allowance at 15% of basic salary, and annual leave entitlement of 24 days per annum at the completion of 12 months of continuous employment with Merlin.

Merlin Objective
 
Merlin is a British humanitarian Non Governmental Organisation providing health care to populations in crises. Merlin exists to provide an immediate and effective response to medical emergencies throughout the world.

Overall Objective of the Position

The HIS Officer based in Lodwar, will have overall responsibility for collection, collation, compilation, analysis, maintaining and dissemination of data on Health, Nutrition, Safe motherhood, Disability and other project related areas.
 
S/he will assist the Senior M&E Officer in establishing and strengthening a comprehensive monitoring and evaluation system to measure programme progress and impact as well as establish effective lesson learning and beneficiary accountability mechanisms in the project area.

Specific Responsibilities:
  • Drive and implement a series of desk reviews, surveys and analyses that provide Merlin with understanding of its contribution to wider impacts on health and health seeking behaviours.
  • Contribute to creating an evidence base on which to track and demonstrate progress against Merlin Kenya country targets and Merlin’s global outcomes
  • Ensure data collection and entry of relevant data related to Merlin projects in a timely manner, and feedback is given to the source of the data such as DHMTs, health facilities and communities in collaboration with other departments
  • Perform detailed analysis of collected data, make necessary visual presentation and give feedback to each service delivery point
  • Ensure the database in Merlin M&E department and MoH(DHIS) are functional, updated and in use
  • Ensure data is segregated by gender and flag any gender disparities so as to entrench gender mainstreaming in programming.
  • Ensure MoH data tools (registers, forms etc) are correctly utilized, kept and updated within Merlin project areas including health facilities and communities
  • Ensure availability of relevant data collection tools within the Merlin supported health facilities.
  • Foster ownership of data collection tools and related data by health facilities.
  • Assist M&E Officer in identifying training needs on data for records officers and other MOH personnel on data collection, entry, analysis and report writing.
  • Work with programmes and M&E staff to ensure that Merlin’s regular internal and external reporting includes analysis of contributions to outcome and impact.
  • Assist the M&E Officer with the preparation and presentation of data for internal and donor reports in a timely manner
  • Developing protocol for sharing data and ensuring the organization activities meet the requirements of the Data Protection Act.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Degree/Diploma in Health Records & Information Systems, Medical statistics, Health Information Management or equivalent.
  • Experience of over 2 years in managing health information systems support in an NGO
  • Experience in designing and implementing evaluation, operational research using both quantitative and qualitative methods
  • Computer literacy with possible advanced Ms word, Ms Excel, Ms PowerPoint and Ms access
  • Knowledge in computer databases, statistical and analytical software (Epi Info,SPSS and Stata)
  • Strong communication skills; oral, written and presentation skills.
  • Willingness to live and work in hardship areas

Our client in the Health Care Industry is looking for a Fundraising & Communication Manager who will work with the CFH Trust management team to monitor the progress of the Trusts Fundraising Agenda and to ensure the smooth operation of the Trust in Kenya.
 
Job Title: Fund Raising & Communication Manager
 
Reports to: Executive Director and Board of Trustees
 
Specific Roles and Responsibilities
  • Set and deliver funding forecasts and budgets
  • Pursue grant-giving and fund-raising generation opportunities for the Trust
  • Actively market the Trust, do presentations and maximize on Donor involvement opportunities
  • Ensure the development and deepening of existing funding income streams and identify new ones
  • Implement fund raising activities to expand the donor base
  • Develop and manage implementation of Marketing & Communication strategies, plans and budgets
  • Be the key liaison with all stakeholders including the management team, project implementation teams such as the:
  • Volunteers, trustees and other service providers
  • Represent the organization with key supporters and funders
  • Manage reporting and relationships with funding partners
