Rural Development Solutions Limited is a leading provider of off-grid power and energy solutions throughout the rural areas of Kenya. 
We seek to invite applications from suitably qualified individuals for the position of solar engineer interns to be based in either Eldoret, Ndhiwa, Rodi Kopany or Kendu Bay. 
The positions will entail extensive travel within the respective regions.
 
Job Description
 
The job description of the off-grid power engineer will be as follows:

  • Compilation of project records and documentation acceptance to customers,
  • Preparation of technical proposal reports and assist with document controls,
  • Designing of off-grid power solutions and other power systems including preparation of drawing and specifications, bills of quantities etc.
  • Ensuring correct standards are maintained in the designs and implementation of projects mainly in off-grid and general earthworks,
  • Assist with supervision of construction of off-grid installation projects undertaken,
  • Operation and maintenance of off-grid installation works in the areas of operation,
  • Training of support staff and other officers working in the various project teams,
Qualifications, experience and requirements:

  •  Must be in possession of either a Higher diploma in Electrical Engineering, Bachelor of Science degree or a Diploma in Electrical Engineering with Electrical Power Option or its equivalent from a recognized university
  • Familiarity with appropriate engineering and mapping software will be an added advantage
  • Acute analytical skills as well as ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines
  • Be in possession of a clean driving license will be an added advantage

  • Be able to understand Technical specifications of tenders.
  • Estimates labor, material, construction, and equipment costs in projects.
  • Inspects completed installations for conformance with design and equipment specifications and safety standards.
  • Observes operation of installation for conformance with operational standards.
  • Able to prepare TCC / LCC of machines/ products
  • He has to do the effective planning of the new equipment required.
  • The person needs to act as consultants to advise their clients on the nature of machine being sold to them and explain servicing /warranty of machine.
