Job Description
 

Under the supervision of the Logistics Assistant, the Part-time Driver will provide driving and some logistical support services to the MSI Kenya office in Nairobi and to support MSI field activities in locations throughout the country.  

The Part-time Driver will maintain the firm’s vehicles in a clean and serviceable condition, perform minor preventive maintenance and safety checks on a daily basis and inform the supervisor of any problems or issues.
 

This is not a fulltime position, however qualified drivers may expect to be engaged regularly for short-term assignments to support field activities.
 

Responsibilities and accountabilities:

• Drive office staff and consultants engaged in official duties in Nairobi and field locations. Vehicle provided by MSI Kenya.
• Manage the day – to – day maintenance of the assigned vehicle to ensure roadworthiness before departure, including daily check of tires, brakes, engine oil, fan belt, fuel, etc.
• Ensure all vehicle documents are valid and with the vehicle.
• Complete and submit all necessary paperwork, such as mileage sheets, vehicle log sheet and travel expense reports
• Detect and report any malfunction of vehicles systems.
• Provide logistical assistance as assigned e.g. airport passenger pick-ups; deliveries; office errands, etc.

Qualifications:

• Completion of secondary education or O’ level.
• Holder of a valid and accident free driving license (Class A, B, C, or E).
• Five years or more experience working with INGOs as a driver; USAID project experience preferred.
• Holder of a valid certificate of good conduct.
• Knowledge of roads and routes throughout Kenya.
• Computer skills; working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook
• Proficiency in English and Kiswahili – written & verbal.

Special working conditions:
 

The driver may be required to work long hours and weekends to complete field assignments.

Work Context

Cesvi aims to strengthen the capabilities of authorities, communities and local organizations in Juba, the capital of South Sudan, in order to consolidate a system of waste management and disposal for the entire urban territory. The end of 2011 saw the termination of the response to the North Bar el Ghazal emergency where refugees returned home after years in the North.

“Environmental protection and sustainable development: building local capacities on solid waste management in South Sudan” (Contract Nr.: 208-209), is a European Commission (EC) funded project implemented by CESVI, an Italian NGO in partnership with South Sudan Development Organization (SSDO).
 

The project has started in January 2010 and will terminate by the end of November 2012 and has the long term objective of contributing to the integration of environment protection principles into policies and programmes in South Sudan (MDG 7a).
 

The main goals of the activities are: developing a strategic plan for integrated SWM through the involvement of LAs of Juba in cooperation with NSAs and improving Juba NSAs and CBOs capacity in managing SWM pilot projects.
 

Target groups of the Action are Local Authorities, NGO, Educational organizations (School teachers) and professional categories (CBOs, NSAs).
 

Job Description

A. Description of the action and objective of the Final Evaluation Mission (FEM)
 

1. Background
 

Location of FEM
 

The FEM will take place in the project’s target area in Juba County, South Sudan
 

2. Period and Duration of the FEM
 

The FEM will start on 26th of November 2012 OR, at latest, by 10th of December 2012
 

List of activities:

•  Briefing in Nairobi and/or Juba coordination office
•  Project Evaluation
•  Draft Report
•  Debriefing in South Sudan and/or Kenya Offices
•  Final Report

3. Objectives of the FEM
 

This FEM occurs during the last month of the project implementation and has the overall objective of identifying and assessing the outcomes and the impact of the project, and to provide recommendations for future projects to be executed by CESVI in South Sudan.

4. FEM Topics
 

The consultant will be in charge of the evaluation of the project progress, and will be required to coordinate his/her activities with CESVI-South Sudan and Kenya staff and with the local partner SSDO.
 

The Final Evaluation will analyze the project’s following five dimensions:

• Pertinence and quality of the project design;
• Effectiveness of project implementation;
• Effectiveness of the action;
• Impact;
• Sustainability.

5. Output of the FEM
 

The evaluator is expected to provide a report based on the objectives and topics described in paragraphs 3 and 4.
 

B. Information Requested to the applicant
 

The selection of the evaluator will be based on the following weighted criteria:

4. Interview - 25%
 

Short listed candidates will be contacted for an interview.
 

5. References - 10%

NDMA Supply Chain Assistant, and Accounts Assistant Jobs in Kenya

The National Drought Management Authority (NDMA) is a State Corporation, created by Legal Notice No. 171 of 24th November 2011, under the Ministry of State for Development of Northern Kenya and other Arid Lands, with the mandate of providing leadership and coordination on all matters relating to drought management. 

The Authority’s Board of Directors intends to fill the following positions.

Supply Chain Assistant  

(REF: NDMA 28) (23 Positions)

Reporting to the County Drought Coordinator and assist to deliver on the objectives of the function at County level

Core duties and responsibilities:

• Ensure that procurement activities undertaken by the County Drought Management Office are in line with the Authority’s procurement policies and procedures
• In collaboration with the County Tender Committee, assist in the preparation of tender documents and in the whole Procurement process including: preparation of tender dossiers; identification of potential suppliers and consultants; evaluation of tenders and preparation of contracts
• Scheduling of deliveries and ensuring that inspection/testing criteria are met by the suppliers
• Maintain the quotation (shopping), duplicates of Local Purchase Orders (LPO) and Local Service Orders (LSO) files; requisition and issue voucher file, counter receipt voucher file and delivery note file

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

• Diploma in Supplies Management/Supply Chain Management from a recognized Institution.

Accounts Assistant

Reporting to the County Drought Coordinator, the Accounts Assistant will contribute to the realisation of the Authority’s goals and objectives by assisting the County Drought Coordinator to ensure sound financial management of the County Drought Management Office

Core duties and responsibilities:

• Advise the County Drought Coordinator on all financial matters pertaining to the County Drought Management Office
• Coordinate the preparation of the work plans, budget and cash flow forecasts
• Provide accurate and timely input for the preparation of quarterly and annual reports,
• Preparation of Cheque & Cash payment vouchers, taking them for authority to pay and issuing out cheques,
• Accounting for all receipts including interest earned/accrued on all bank accounts and preparation of bank reconciliation for all bank accounts
