Overall Purpose of the Job

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and growing a profitable book of Life/Pension business, while focusing on distribution, product innovation, pricing and service excellence.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Spearheading the profitable growth of Life/Pension Insurance Business through the various distribution channels.
  • Monitoring and improving the Life/Pension operations to ensure maximum efficiency and exemplary client service in Underwriting, Policy Benefits Administration, and Client Services.
  • Development of new products and enhancement of existing products
  • Undertake Market intelligence on new products
  • Administer departmental activities
  • Maintain existing schemes portfolio and foster business relationship with trustees, employers and service providers 
  • Provide asset & employee benefits consultancy services to all stakeholders
  • Oversee the training and mentoring of staff in technical aspects of the business
  • Assist the team in credit control
  • Ensure  that clients issues are handled expeditiously and with courtesy
  • Maintain client’s service visits on quarterly basis and preparation of client loss experience. 
  • To ensure that a spirit of team work in maintained in  the department
  • Provide training and support to staff in your department
  • Supervise internal support staff involved in business process.
Qualifications and Skills
  • A  Bachelors degree in a business related field with a professional qualification in Life/pension Management (e.g. FCII, FLMI, Chartered Insurer, ACII, etc.).
  • 7 years’ relevant life insurance experience in a leadership/management position.
  • Knowledge of legislation governing insurance in Kenya will be an added advantage.

The Research Scientist Agricultural/Irrigation Engineer reports to the Director. The successful candidate will be deployed at Kibos station.

Duties include;
  • Carrying out studies on soil water plant relations to promote water retention, improve drainange, infiltration and efficient water use.
  • Carrying out studies on appropriate irrigation and drainage technologies to improve cane yields and stabilize cane supply.
  • Establishment of standards of work for a range of mechanical operations such as land preparation, transport, etc.
  • Develop and promote appropriate farm machinery, tools and equipment
  • Development and integration of environmentally sound techniques and practices in sugar production systems.

The Internal Auditor reports to the Internal Audit Manager. The post exists in Kibos Headquarters.

Duties include
  • Participates in preparations of risk-based audit plans/programmes
  • Determine scope of review in conjunction with the Internal Audit Manager.
  • Documents, evaluates and tests systems and controls to determine their adequacy and effectiveness to ensure 
  1. compliance with policies and procedures, 
  2. accomplishment of management’s objectives, (iii) reliability and integrity of information, 
  3. economic use of resources, and 
  4. safeguarding of assets
  • Develops and discusses findings; comes to agreement on recommendations and timelines for corrective actions with responsible officers of operations audited and monitors the implementation status of agreed recommendations.
  • Prepares working papers for review by the Internal Audit Manager.
  • Drafts audit reports
  • Any other duties assigned by the Internal Audit Manager
Level of Education and Experience:
  • Holders of a relevant University degree and CPA II/CIA II or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
  • In addition the candidate must have three (3) years post qualification experience in internal auditing from a reputable organization.

WFP’s Regional Aviation Safety Office based in Nairobi, is seeking to recruit a qualified Kenyan national to fill the post of National Aviation Safety Officer in support of its humanitarian air operations in Kenya, Sudan, Somalia, Tanzania and Uganda.

Key tasks and responsibilities: Under the direct supervision of Regional Aviation Safety Officer the National Aviation Safety Officer will be responsible for the following duties:
  • Ensure the effectiveness of the aviation safety program and data collection in the region.
  • Perform aviation safety and quality monitoring.
  • Maintain a safety management information system and database locally.
  • Assist safety and quality processes including audits and inspections
  • Identify aviation safety hazards and ensure that accurate reporting and internal quality control systems are functioning and that all relevant records are maintained.
  • Perform follow-up and analysis of occurrences using such methods as: trend monitoring, deep treatment (single occurrence-investigative needs), precursor detection (data mining), risk assessment & classification (prioritisation of oversight), statistics, standard reports and analysis workbenches, and remedial action monitoring.
  • Ensure data quality, data entry and effective monitoring processes.
  • Enhance air transport operations’ and service providers’ reporting systems and data sharing.
  • Perform risk assessment and regarding the findings perform corrective actions.
  • Disseminate significant safety information to all concerned parties.
  • Enhance service providers’ safety culture and promotion of safety awareness.
  • Ensure that all staff is adequately trained. Train safety and air transport personnel to use aviation safety information system prior to safety and quality monitoring and risk management. Identify any additional training needs to achieve high working standards.
  • Assist in the implementation of the aviation safety information system and network
  • Supervise staff as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications: 
  • University degree in business administration, engineering, computer science, quality assurance, technical, statistics or management; and with equivalent professional operational experience in aviation. Training and knowledge of aviation is an essential qualification, with a recognized commercial pilot, aircraft engineer, or dispatching license. 
  • Experience: At least 5 years of progressively responsible, practical commercial aviation and professional experience, with at least one or more years experience with safety or quality assurance programmes. Job related experience in working in the field of commercial aviation of which at least one year or more was closely related to humanitarian air operations or food aid related work. Adequate knowledge and experience of aircraft technical, flight operations or air traffic management sectors. Proficiency in Windows (MS Word, Excel), database experience. 
  • Language: Fluency in both written and oral English. 
  • Other desirable skills: Training and /or experience in aviation safety management and proven interest to develop aviation safety. Additional computer knowledge such as use of graphical, spreadsheet and other software packages.

  • is a member of Parliament or County Assembly;
  • is an official of a governing body of a political party;
  • has at any time within the preceding five years, held or stood for election as a member of Parliament, a county assembly or as a governor;
  • is an undischarged bankrupt;
  • has been convicted of a felony;
  • has benefited from or facilitated an unlawful or irregular allocation, acquisition or use of land or other public property; or
  • has been removed from office for contravening the provisions of the Constitution or any other written law.
