Kenya’s National HIV prevention goal is to reduce the number of new HIV infections by at least 50% by the year 2013 (KNASP III). 
As the National program gears to promote implementing and scale up of evidence-informed behavioral interventions (EBIs), a key challenge is the limited number of proven behavioral interventions that are evidence informed, packaged, standardized and adopted as National interventions for specific priority populations.

National AIDS and STI Control Programme (NASCOP) under the department of disease prevention and control in the ministry of public health & sanitation is working towards identifying evidence – informed behavioral interventions (EBIs), to promote implementation and scale up of the same by recruiting a core team of three (3) technical reviewers.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS foundation (EGPAF) for National AIDS and STI Control Programme (NASCOP) through the ministry of public health & sanitation invites applications from qualified candidates for the positions below to be submitted on or before 1st June, 2012 to the Ministry Headquarters – Afya House HRM Department Room 314.

HIV Prevention Technical Officer

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Under the leadership and guidance of NASCOP and the Evidence Based Interventions (EBI) Technical
  • Working Group the team will:
  • Implement assessment of Behavioral HIV prevention interventions as per the nationally approved
  • Assessment Tool (KHPIAT).
  • Support GOK and partners on assessment issues.
  • Provide support in capacity building to implementing partners on assessment related issues.
  • Support in administrative duties relating to assessment. This will include documentation, managing website, scheduling assessment panel meetings, handling all assessment related enquiries e.t.c.
  • Support regular and necessary review of assessment tool and process based on prevailing evidence
  • Conduct assessment related site visit as agreed by TWG and approved by NASCOP.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Head NASCOP.
Qualifications
  • A Master’s degree in Behavioral Sciences, Social Sciences, Public Health or related fields.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in HIV prevention programs, with emphasis on the development, adaptation, and evaluation of HIV prevention behavioral interventions for HIV prevention.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with the Government of Kenya structures and a wide range of stakeholders and understanding of NASCOP and other key Government of Kenya structures.
  • Comprehensive computer skills, writing skills and communication skills.
Remuneration:  
A consolidated salary of Kshs. 143,000 per month is offered.

Qualifications and competencies

Duties and responsibilities
  • Spearhead the development and implementation of strategic and business plan for the operation function of the company
  • Formulate strategies for implementation of the business plan and attainment of the business targets
  • Provide Management with periodic operational reports as appropriate and any other information that may be deemed necessary to support decision making processes by both the Senior Management Team and the Board
  • Nurture an environment for enhanced productivity, effective working relationships, and acceptable discipline levels within the function.
  • Ensure that operations function comply with the regulations and requirements as stipulated within the industry/sector including regulatory directives and legal requirements of Central Bank of Kenya
  • Ensure the operations programs are self sustaining with zero tolerance level of default and arrearage, by growing quality portfolio through providing credit and optimal collection of the same
  • Able to carry out a stringent appraisal and recommend funding priorities that will lead to expansion of the branch business
  • Establish, deal and maintain positive customer relations with both private and corporate customers in a regulated deposit taking micro-finance.
  • Be involved in planning and delivering of effective sales strategies and monitoring the progress of new and existing financial products
  • Champion the development of products to satisfy the expectations and demands of customers
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Chief Executive Officer and/or Management from time to time.

The Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA) - Kenya Youth Empowerment Project Training Officer Job in Kenya

The Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA), the umbrella body for the Private Sector in Kenya, has been tasked by the Government of Kenya with the implementation of Training and Internship Component of the Kenya Youth Empowerment Project (KYEP). 
KYEP is a World Bank funded project with an overall objective of increasing employability of youth in Kenya. 
The Component, provides training, private sector internships and work experience to youth of 15 – 29 years of age. 
KEPSA is seeking to appoint a key staff to manage and implement training aspects of this project, initially on a two-years contract, renewable.

Training Officer 
( Ref No. PO-002/2012)

Reporting to the KYEP Project Director at KEPSA, the Training Officer will perform the following duties:

Main tasks and responsibilities

The Training officer is Responsible for all aspects regarding the provision of trainings within Training and Internship Component of the Kenya Youth Empowerment Project.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Specifically, the training officer will be responsible for;
  • Developing Expressions Of Interest (EOI) and evaluating responses for third party training providers
  • Developing the Terms of Reference (ToR) for Requests For Proposal (RFP) for third party training providers
  • Prepare RFP documentation for the selection of training service providers
  • Participating in Bid Committees and preparing tender evaluation reports
  • Drafting contracts for third party training providers in conjunction with the procurement officer
  • Review third party training plans and timetables for every cycle and advise the Project Director for approval before commencement of training
  • Review all third party training reports and act or advise on the necessary actions
  • Managing contracts of technical training providers and clearing payments in collaboration with procurement officer after receiving all agreed deliverables
  • Monitoring quality and content of trainings provided and providing feedback to the KYEP Project Director
  • Developing Interns stipend payee Lists during third party trainings
  • Supporting Review of curriculum and training materials after every cycle.
  • Supporting Beneficiary assessment and impact evaluation teams during trainings and using the results of these assessments to improve the quality of the training provided through this Component
  • Supporting implementation of Management Information System (MIS) to monitor all training aspects within the pilot project
  • Acting as a point of contact for KEPSA on all training aspects
  • Maintain accurate training documents, including all actions taken and facilitate all audit reviews
  • Performing any other duties assigned by the Project Director
Job Requirements:
  • The Training officer will be expected to have sound Training, consultancy knowledge and experience. Specifically;
  • A minimum of University degree in Education; Social Sciences or Business-related field
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English
  • Good command of Computer Programs and Applications
  • At least eight (8) years experience in the provision and evaluation of training
  • Experience in Training Consultancy contract management
  • Excellent analytical, report writing and organizational skills
  • Capacity to work under pressure and meet tight schedules and deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Excellent communication skills, negotiation skills and a team player

National Gender and Equality Commission Design of the Commission Logo Competition

 The National Gender and Equality Commission is a constitutional commission established under article 59 of the constitution.

The commission’s mandate is to promote gender equity and non discrimination in accordance with article 27 of the constitution.

The commission target groups are; youth, children, women, persons with disabilities, older persons, minorities and marginalized persons. 

The commission is calling for interested designers to design a suitable corporate logo. 

The proposed logo should factor in commission’s target groups, be of appealing colors that shall also be adopted as the colors of the commission.
 
A hard copy of the proposed LOGO shall be submitted to the commission with soft copy on a CD.
 
The submitted logos will be appraised by National Gender and Equality Commission.
 
The winners will be awarded as follows:
  • First Price: Ksh. 100,000
  • Second Prize: Ksh. 75, 000
  • Third Prize: Ksh. 50, 000
The winning design shall be the property of the National Gender and Equality Commission.
