USTADI is the brand name for the Kenya Local Capacity Development Facility – K-LCDF, which is a joint initiative of SNV and a Consortium of 20 other capacity development (CD) organizations in Kenya that seeks to improve the capacity development service environment though a market-embedded approach as a means of supporting the localization agenda and enhancing sustainability of capacity development services (CDS).
The current organizational focus is incubating local solutions in agriculture and water sanitation and hygiene (WASH) sectors in rural Kenya, with the intention of capturing the learning and up scaling proven innovations to other sectors throughout the country.

The broad roles of USTADI are to:
  • Promote CDS Market facilitation activities
  • Create Service Provider Directories and Tendering Platforms
  • Award CDS grants to projects that will help local organizations in capacity development
  • Promote CD Investments as well as stimulate growth of a Kenyan CD Fund
  • Link Civil Society Organizations’ to relevant capacity development services/ providers
  • Develop and manage linkages within the capacity development sector
USTADI intends to strengthen its governance structure by recruiting additional board members to its board. 
USTADI believes that governance and organizational development are critical in ensuring accountability and its sustainability.
The board will be expected to perform the following duties:
  • To ensure the overall direction, effectiveness and accountability of USTADI, is, well run and delivering the outcomes it was set up for
  • To provide strategic direction and establish policy and procedures for USTADI
  • To undertake Resource Mobilization activities for USTADI
  • To represent USTADI in relevant forums
  • Provide oversight support to the secretariat
  • To offer specific technical advice in areas such finance, development, marketing and proactively publicize and promote USTADI
  • To undertake monitoring visits to selected funded projects
  • To review the board and organizational performance on a regular basis
We are looking for Kenyan nationals of good repute and standing, people of integrity who have broad national and international linkages, exceptional leadership and drive and those that will uphold the ideals of USTADI. 
Interested persons must also be willing to commit their time and be available for at least 8-10 days a year for quarterly board and committee meetings, board development processes and Annual General Meetings. Board membership will be voluntary and not a salaried position.

Prior experience as a board member would be an added advantage, but not essential.

 A geothermal power plant based in Naivasha seeks to recruit a Technical Manager reporting to the Plant Manager, the ideal candidate will be responsible for:
Key Result Areas:
  • Assisting the Plant Manager in directing, coordinating, controlling and managing the Company’s technical operations and maintenance of infrastructure.
  • Ensuring that the Power Plant operates to the required standards.
  • Developing and supervising the plant maintenance programme.
  • Managing all major and minor plant maintenance works.
  • Attending to plant breakdowns and equipment failure
  • Ensuring proper management of the Company’s assets such as the plant, equipment, machinery and vehicles through effective maintenance and repairs.
  • Coordinate the operations and maintenance departments

Minimum Requirements for the position:
  • An Engineering degree from a recognized university.

ICRC - Water & Habitat Engineer Job in Kenya

It also endeavours to prevent suffering by promoting and strengthening International Humanitarian Law and universal humanitarian principles.

The ICRC’s Somalia Delegation in Nairobi co-ordinates the institution’s humanitarian activities in Somalia.

Water & Habitat Engineer (Wathab)

The Water & Habitat Unit carries out various projects in Somalia which include boreholes re-drilling and wells civil works & rehabilitation, rain water catchment’s structures, as well as construction and renovation of various structures.

In the frame of its activities, the Somali Delegation in Nairobi is seeking a skilled and highly motivated person to fill the Water and Habitat Engineer position.

Responsibilities:
  • He/she will be based in Somalia and work within the frame of the Wathab department approach and of the wider delegation strategy for Somalia;
  • He/she will work in collaboration with Regional ICRC Field Officers based in the different regions of Somalia,
  • Carry out assessment and diagnostics of buildings (hospitals, health structures, etc.);
  • Write bill of quantities (BoQ) for rehabilitation or constructions works;
  • Produce basic technical drawings for civil works;
  • Supervise rehabilitation and construction works independently;
  • Implement contracts for ICRC projects and deal directly with contractors on the ground;
  • Supervise civil works related to water projects (elevated tanks, animal troughs, etc.);
  • Organize for and provide technical training and support to ICRC staff.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Degree of Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field of work;
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in implementing and supervising construction projects, if possible in Somalia;
  • Excellent computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, any other interactive software);
  • Ability to read and produce technical drawings (good command of AutoCAD is an asset);
  • Excellent command of English and Somali languages;
  • Very good knowledge of written reporting (in English);
  • Good administrative skills, ability to supervise and train staff;
  • Somali native with valid passport,
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel in various regions inside Somalia and ability to work in hardship areas.
Other Requirements:
  • Experience in humanitarian work;
  • Experience in supervising construction teams on site;
  • Ability to design simple structures, such as small buildings, concrete slabs, etc;
  • Knowledge or experience in water projects is an asset;
  • Good command of AutoCAD is an asset.
