Vacancies in the Ministries of Health in Conjunction with USAID-Funded Capacity Kenya Project.
Important Note:
- Applications are invited for the following advertised positions which will be hired on fixed contracts to work in selected government health facilities.

- Province addresses are at the end of this advertisement. Details of the facilities and the districts in which they are located will be availed and candidates will be allowed to select preferred sites during the interview. Final posting shall be decided by the Ministries of Health.

- Candidates should attach copies of all their certificates including professional registration license in the case of Clinical Officers, Nurses, Medical Laboratory Technologists and Pharmaceutical Technologists.
- Salaries are consolidated. A gratuity of 31% of monthly basic salary will be paid at the end of the contract period.
- Candidates employed in the Northern Arid Regions will receive an additional “Extraneous Allowance” in line with approved Government of Kenya rates. NAL regions include Turkana, Samburu, Marsabit, Isiolo, Wajir, Mandera, Garissa and Tana River
Registered Clinical Officer III

Requirements:
For appointment to the post of Registered Clinical Officer Ill, candidates must:
- i) Be in possession of a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
- ii). Be in possession of a Diploma in Clinical Medicine from a recognized medical training college.
- ¡ii). Be registered by the Clinical Officers Council.
- iv). Be knowledgeable and experienced in HIV/AIDS management. Those with CCC management will have an added advantage.
Duties and Responsibilities
Work at this level is of limited scope and complexity. The officer will normally work under the guidance of a senior officer.
Work involves seeing and examining patients, diagnosing and treating ailments at an outpatient department in a hospital or medical center.
In addition, the officer will be expected to assist in planning and conducting primary health care activities, coaching students attached to hospitals and medical centers, supervising and counseling a small number of staff engaged on routine patients care and giving support and health education to patients.
Kenya Registered Community Health Nurse III

Requirements:
For appointment to the post of KRCHN Ill, candidates must:
- Be in possession of a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
- Be in possession of a Kenya Registered Nurse or Kenya Registered Community Health Nurse Diploma from a recognized medical training college.
- Be registered by the Nursing Council of Kenya.
- At least one-year working experience at a CCC and /or ANC/PMTCT setting will be an advantage.
Duties and Responsibilities
Work at this level will be of limited scope and complexity and will be carried out under the guidance of a senior officer.
Specific duties and responsibilities involve provision, supervision and planning of nursing care of patients at an outpatient department or wards in a hospital.
In addition, the officer will be expected to assess patients’ needs, verify and maintain information relating to patients’ admission, keep records of drugs and other supplies, supervise and counsel staff and perform routine clinical duties.
Medical Laboratory Technologist III

For appointment to the post of Medical Laboratory Technologist Ill, candidates must:
- Be in possession of a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
- Be in possession of a Kenya Medical Laboratory Technologists Diploma from a recognized medical training college.
- Be registered by the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technician and Technologists Board.
- Knowledge and experience in TB and HIV will be an added advantage.
Duties and Responsibilities
Work at this level will be of limited scope and complexity and will be carried out under the guidance of a senior officer.
Specific duties and responsibilities will include offering general diagnostic or other laboratory services in a medical laboratory, blood transfusion services or diagnosis of vector-borne diseases.
Pharmaceutical Technologist

For appointment to the post of Pharmaceutical Technologist, candidates must:
- Be in possession of a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
- Be in possession of a Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology from a recognized medical training college.
- Be registered by the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technician and Technologists Board.
Duties and Responsibilities
Work at this level is carried out under the guidance of a senior officer.
Duties and responsibilities mainly involve dispensing and compounding medicine, verifying and maintaining information relating to drugs issued to patients, ordering and recording of drugs and other supplies, guiding and counseling trainees and supervision of other staff working under him or her.
VCT Counselor

For appointment to the post of VCT Counselor, candidates must:
- Be in possession of a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
- Be in possession of a Certificate in Voluntary Counseling and Testing from a reputable institution after having pursued a course lasting at least 1 year.
- Work experience in a VCT setting will be an added advantage.
Duties and Responsibilities
Work at this level will be of limited scope and complexity and will be carried out under the guidance of a senior officer.
Duties include performing HIV/AIDS counseling, testing and referrals, addressing gender and stigma-related barriers among clients, liaising with other departments in the medical facility and partners to provide holistic care for clients, assisting in capacity-building of health care workers among other duties.
Nutrition Officer III

Specific duties and responsibilities involve planning, monitoring, implementing and evaluating specific nutrition therapeutic diets for patients visiting the health facility.
In addition, the officer will be expected to supervise staff working under this position.
Health Records Information Officer III

Work at this grade involves a variety of duties and responsibilities of a limited scope and complexity. An officer at this level works under guidance and supervision of a Nursing Officer or a Clinical Officer. Duties and responsibilities include planning and execution of nursing care for individuals or a group of patients.
Social Worker

Duties and Responsibilities
Work at this level will be of limited scope and complexity and will be carried out under the guidance of a senior officer.
Duties include assessing the social needs of all TB/CCC patients and their families, refering patients to other social care providers, managing the waiver system, performing social assessments of candidates for ARV, collaborating with the IEC team in networking activities and supporting capacity-building of health care workers.
Comprehensive Care Center Service/Patient Attendant

- Have experience in peer counseling and management of Persons Living with HIV (PLHIV).

Duties and Responsibilities
Work at this level will be of limited scope and complexity and will be carried out under the guidance of a senior officer.
Duties include assisting the receptionists in retrieving patient files, weighing and measuring patients and recording client information, and performing other support services e.g. transferring blood samples and assisting in loading/unloading supplies.

Comprehensive Care Center Counselor-In-Charge

- Be in possession of a Certificate in Voluntary Counseling and Testing from a reputable institution after having pursued a course lasting at least 2 years.
- Work experience in a VCT and comprehensive care centre setting is an added advantage.
Duties and Responsibilities
Work at this level will be of limited scope and complexity and will be carried out under the guidance of a senior officer.
Duties include performing HIV/AIDS counseling and testing of clients, referring HIV positive clients to CCC, addressing gender-related barriers, liaising with other departments in the facility and other stakeholders to provide holistic care for clients, assist in capacity building of health care on topics related to HIV/AIDS counseling and compiling related data.
