National Security Trainer

RedR UK is looking for a qualified candidate to fill the post of National Security Trainer for its Kenya Programme, to be based in Nairobi, Kenya.

Duties and Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the Programme Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties:
  • Plan and implement the security training programme for RedR UK in Kenya.
  • Liaising with client organisations, undertake training needs assessments prior to the planning and implementation of in-field training events. .
  • Deliver training courses (or assist sometimes as a translator/interpreter if needed) in the areas of field staff security.
  • Be responsible for development, revision and constant update and improvement of training material by working closely with the Programme Manager as well as RedR HQ Learning and Development Department.
  • Be responsible for effective and qualitative delivery of training events including materials and equipment with the support of the Training Assistant. Ensure that the required materials are available and at the venue on time, including photocopying handouts, producing welcome packs and cd’s, organising stationery and other training tools and to ensure that the audio-visual equipment is available and working.
  • Support the Programme Manager in course monitoring and evaluation processes, by ensuring the completion, recording and analysis of all course reporting requirements (course evaluation forms, follow up action plans, trainers’ reports etc.)
  • Attend meetings with the various UN, INGO and NNGO agencies, in order to market RedR Training courses and report on issues that are raised by producing meeting minutes.
  • Be responsible for maintaining soft and hard copies of up-to-date training materials.
  • Support the Training Facilitator and Training Assistant, with general administrative, logistics and liaison issues concerning the RedR office, training venues, transport, and general coordination of RedR’s activities.
  • Provide feedback and peer evaluations to fellow team members and trainers in order to enhance their professional abilities.
  • Work in co-ordination with the rest of the team.
Person Specification
  • Proactive, good organisational skills and ability to prioritise tasks
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in field of training preferably in humanitarian, Cluster and safety/security related subjects, including events administration and coordination
  • Professional experience of at least 2 years related to security, preferably in humanitarian sector;
  • An understanding of humanitarian security and strategies and issues
  • Experience in capacity building and excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Good computer literacy, with knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Good English language skills, both spoken and written
  • Willingness and ability to travel within Kenya, to possibly insecure environments
  • Ability to work in a team and also independently
  • Ability to adapt to different contexts and sensitivity to cultural differences
  • Solution oriented and able to adapt to changing environments
  • Experience in working with NGOs, preferably in insecure and changing environment

Windle Trust - Programme Development Manager, Volunteer Secondary School Teachers Jobs in Kenya

Windle Trust Kenya wishes to recruit officers for the positions described below:

1. Programme Development Manager

 (one post).

WTK is seeking to recruit a Programme Development Manager (PDM) to provide leadership in strategic planning, fund raising and building M & E systems. 

This position is based in Nairobi with frequent field visits.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate development and implementation of the Country Strategy and Country Operation Plans
  • Ensure Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning frameworks are developed for each programme and implemented
  • Facilitate development of funding strategy, identify new funding opportunities and prepare project funding proposals in partnership with relevant WTK staff
  • Provide leadership to staff in development and implementation of specific monitoring and evaluation tools
Qualification
  • A Masters’ degree from a recognized university in Social Sciences, Development Studies/Planning, Statistics, Qualitative analysis, M&E or related field.
  • At least 3 years demonstrated experience in fundraising and M & E preferably in an NGO setting.
  • Experience of emergency and development work, and an understanding of relevant humanitarian and policy issues
  • Excellent written English skills and experience with drafting documents, such as project plans, reports and grants
  • Sensitivity to cultural differences, and the ability to work in a wide variety of cultural contexts.
  • Demonstrable understanding and experience of gender equity issues and their relevance to humanitarian response work
  • Computer skills - Microsoft Word, spread sheet and power point as well as web browsers
  • Experience in developing creative solutions to problems
2. Volunteer Secondary School Teachers
