ICAP of Columbia University Logistics Manager and Procurement Officer Jobs in Nairobi Kenya


ICAP of Columbia University is working in partnership with the Ministry of Public Health and Sanitation and the Ministry of Medical Services in Kenya to strengthen HIV Prevention, Care and Treatment services.

This program is part of a US Government PEPFAR initiative that provides funding through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for HIV Prevention, Care and Treatment services.

Applications are invited for the following positions:

Logistics Manager

Location: Nairobi

Overall Job Function:

Reporting to Finance Director, the Logistics Manager has the primary responsibility of purchase, supply, delivery, storage and disposal of goods and services, and logistic/transport operations.

Responsibilities:
  • Coordinating sourcing, purchase, delivery, storage and disposal of goods and services
  • Manage logistics operations, including vehicles, material and personnel
  • Oversee the renovation and repairs of ICAP-supported facilities
  • Any other duties to be assigned from time to time
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree and a diploma in purchasing and supplies management
  • At least 5 years’ experience in managing logistics and procurement.
  • Knowledge of funding agencies procurement procedures and familiarity with commodity management tracking systems
  • Good organization, interpersonal, negotiation and high level of computer skills, including excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and ERP systems
Procurement Officer

Location: Nairobi

Overall Job Function:

Reporting to the Logistics Manager, the Procurement Officer has the primary responsibility of liasing with the Logistics Manager to ensure the purchase, delivery, storage and disposal of goods and services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage procurement requests, specifications, sourcing and placement of orders for local procurement of supplies and equipment
  • Manage the delivery tracking system for all purchases and delivery of the items
  • Prepare monthly procurement reports
  • Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time
Key Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or its equivalent
  • Qualification in purchasing and supplies management
  • At least 3 years’ experience in logistics and procurement
  • Good organization and communication skills
  • Good interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Proficiency in use of MS Excel plus any procurement software

AFRALTI - Director & CEO and Head of Training, Consultancy and Research Jobs in Nairobi Kenya


The African Advanced Level Telecommunications Institute (AFRALTI) is a leading Inter-Governmental Centre of Excellence for the provision of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) training and consultancy in English speaking Africa.

The Institute, which is based in Nairobi, wishes to fill the following two positions:

1. Director & CEO

Reporting to the AFRALTI Governing Council, the selected candidate will, provide leadership in developing business strategies that will enable the Institute fulfill its vision and mission.

The position will, fall vacant in November 2012

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership in the development of short and long term business strategies and plans for the Institute.
  • Oversee the formulation and review of the Institute’s policies and procedures and submit the same to the Governing Council for consideration.
  • Provide guidance in designing, developing and delivery of training and consultancy services to clients in member States and English speaking countries as a whole.
  • Ensure that all the Institute’s resources including human capital, finances and assets are optimally managed.
  • Secretary to the Governing Council meetings.
Qualification and Experience
  • Applicants must be holders of a post-graduate degree in Telecommunication Engineering or Business Administration, coupled with at Least five years’ senior management experience in a medium or large organization.
  • Applicants must be IT proficient..
Tenure

This is a five—year contract engagement.

2. Head of Training, Consultancy and Research

Reporting to the Director (CEO), the selected candidate will coordinate and develop training programmes, consultancy skills and research assignments.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop institutional skills on consultancy and research.
  • Continuous improvement of institutional skills in training.
  • Initiate and develop training needs in the ICT sector in the region.
  • Initiate the development and evaluation of training courses to meet ICT sector skills gap.
  • Enhance business growth by undertaking market research and develop appropriate products for the market.
  • Initiate and prepare performance on those plans.
  • Manage and control departmental and staff activities as per approved budget.
  • Assess the needs of the department and recommend appropriately.
Qualification and Experience

Applicants must be holders of a Master’s degree in Telecommunications or Business Administration with at least five years’ experience in training, consultancy and research operations.

In addition, applicants must have at least three research peer-reviewed publications and possess good IT, leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.

The engagement will be on a three-year contract, renewable subject to performance.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Experience in Trade Marketing will be a strong advantage.
  • Proven people leadership capability.
  • Proven understanding of Regulatory Affairs Legal frameworks.
