This role will report to the Commercial Director, Kenya.

The main purpose of the role will be to provide the strategic direction for the Airtel money product by coordinating the set budgetary targets to achieve the overall goal for the organization.

  • Provide sound strategic direction on the distribution and visibility of the product

Key requirements
  • A Bachelors Degree in Marketing, Finance or Administration with a post graduate in Marketing, Finance or Administration. Masters in Business Administration will be an added advantage
  • 5 years of experience in senior management, with at least 2 years experience in a financial institution

Head of Sales, Kenya

The position reports to the Commercial Director, Kenya.

The purpose of the role is to maximize revenues for Kenya through effective sales strategy formulation and implementation.

The role holder will direct a team of Sales Managers covering Kenya.

He/she will build and harness distributor and strategic partner relationships with a view to strengthening Airtel penetration and revenue growth.

Other responsibilities include;
  • Developing incentive plans for both partners and the sales team
  • Maintain effective communications with Senior Management and key stakeholders within the Organization to ensure smooth running of operations
  • Develop financial plans pertaining to the sales function
  • Directs all local sales activities to maximize sales revenues and meet the set objectives
  • Hire, direct, motivate, coach and develop managers/supervisors in the sales function
  • Work closely with and support business partners/distributors to meet or exceed sales & growth targets
Key Requirements:
  • University degree in Business, Sales, or Marketing. A Masters degree will be an added advantage

Director, Information Technology

This role will report directly to the Chief Operations Officer.

The main purpose of the role will be to effectively manage operation of the IT function by overseeing the activities and operations of the IT department, ensuring the provision of world class IT services.

Other responsibilities include;
  • Negotiate service level agreements with both internal and external customers and service providers and monitor service delivery to ensure the agreed targets and standards are met
  • Direct the preparation and implementation of policies, procedures and standards relating to information and telecommunication systems
  • Ensure efficient management of outsourced business partners
  • Accountable for the management, mentoring and career development of all IT staff
  • Defines and seeks approval for the level of IT resources required to meet the organization’s goals, prioritizes and schedules major projects
  • Develop a disaster recovery plan to address any risk that may hinder normal operations and ensure safety and integrity of the organization’s data
  • Responsible for researching and evaluating new technologies and trends
Key requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a Business related degree.

  • A proven track record of driving and defining complex IT strategy, budgetary experience and project management skills

Expression of Interest to Develop Maseno University Master Plan

Background

Maseno University was initially established in 1990 as a Constituent College of Moi University and became a full-fledged University eleven years later in February 2001. The University has since evolved into a recognized institution within the region and beyond.

Maseno University is located 30km West of Kisumu City in Maseno Township (along the Kisumu-Busia highway) and which is the major urban centre within Maseno Division. It lies at the borders of Kisumu and Vihiga counties serving a wide and diverse population. The township has grown rapidly since the establishment of Maseno University College.

The changes that have been taking place at Maseno University have accelerated in the last few years. This has been as a result of increase in the number of academic programmes with subsequent rise in the number of students.

These numbers are projected to rise to over 16,000 students in the next five years with a commensurate rise in the number of staff. This will lead to pressure on the existing facilities within the institution and the neighbouring environment.

It is necessary that for continued growth of the University, there must be an instrument in place that will act as a guide to ensure systematic development without conflict on uses and creating an institution that works as a functional unit.

It has therefore become necessary to develop a Maseno University Master Plan which will give a general framework for the layout of physical development of the University while enabling the institution translate its strategies into functional spatial development.

Scope

The Maseno University Master Plan (MSUMP) will inter alia address the following matters:
  1. Planned growth of physical infrastructure and land use taking into account the planned programs;
  2. Comprehensive analysis of infrastructure: Transport networks, water, sanitation, communication and environmental systems;
  3. Comprehensive analysis of superstructure: Linkages between the faculties and spatial functionality, density of development and aesthetic considerations;
  4. Relationship with the planned and anticipated growth of Maseno Township; and
  5. Prepare designs that take into cognizance the land limitations and technology development.
Invitation for Expression of Interest (EOI)

The University invites Expression of Interest from qualified, competent and registered firms forming a consortium including the following disciplines:
  1. Land Use Planning;
  2. Landscape Architecture;
  3. Economics;
  4. Sociology;
  5. Land Survey and
  6. Environmental Design and Management.
Interested qualified consortia comprising of the above disciplines are invited to apply for shortlisting/prequalification.

The bid should indicate the individual consultancy firms forming the consortium and their respective areas of competency, qualifications and experience by submitting the following documents/information as a mandatory requirement:

Organisational Context

The Mine Action Programme in Somalia had been implemented by UNMAS since 2002. The programme started in Somaliland (1992-1993, 1997-1998 and 1999-present), and Puntland (2003-2005), and has implemented capacity building projects, provided technical assistance for the national Somaliland and Puntland Mine Action centres and the Police Explosive Ordnance disposal teams.

Mine Action operations in south central Somalia were launched in 2007 with the primary objective of establishing a national Mine Action Coordination Center to cover the remaining regions of south central Somalia.

The UN Somalia Mine Action Programme (UNSOMA) has transitioned and will operate under the responsibility of the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS), executed by UNOPS. In South Central, UNSOMA will expand the activities in support of the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM).

In complement to the provision of capacity building and support for the AMISOM forces to undertake EOD (Explosive Ordnance) activities in Mogadishu to reduce the large amounts of ERW (Explosive Remnants of War) and stockpiles throughout the city, Police EOD teams will be deployed in Mogadishu in concert with an emergency MRE initiatives by UNMAS, UNICEF and UNHCR to reach the large numbers of returnees for provision of humanitarian assistance.

UNSOMA has an office in Nairobi to provide managerial and support functions for the Regional Offices in Somalia.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the UNMAS Head of Security, daily reporting to the UNMAS Head of Office in Dolow, the incumbent will perform the following duties and responsibilities:

LSA - Key functions:
  • Support the head of security in establishing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all security related duties for UNMAS premises and assets in Dolow and in the region, including local UNMAS guesthouse facilities.
  • Assist the head of security in reporting on and auditing field security procedures in Dolow and the region, including security risk assessments, security clearance requests and implementation of risk mitigation measures.
  • Recommend improvements of security arrangements to the Head of Office in Dolow.
  • Actively liaise with UNDSS staff, host country police and military and, where necessary, local clan and community leaders regarding the safety and security of UNMAS personnel.
  • Conduct security briefings for incoming UNMAS staff as appropriate;
  • Assist in collecting information about possible security threats to UNMAS staff and assets and write daily reports;
  • Supervise UNMAS security guards and reception personnel in the UNMAS office in Dolow, including local UNMAS Guesthouse facilities.
  • Under the guidance of the Head of Security, provide appropriate training to UNMAS security guards, including reception staff.
  • Maintain and ensure the proper functioning of security equipment and stores, such as identification guards equipment, torches, communications equipment, applicable registers and passes, personal body armor, emergency rations, emergency fuel etc.
  • Develop access control procedures, including identification pass system, to be installed on all entry and office doors in UNMAS premises in Dolow, under the guidance of UNDSS.
  • Perform any other relevant task or duty as instructed by the Head of Security or the Head of Field Office Dolow.
  • Meets official personnel at the airport and facilitates immigration and customs formalities as required.
  • Knowledgeable about Minimum Operating Security Standards (MOSS) for vehicles and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) while traveling, including reporting procedures to the radio room, counter actions during carjacking, ambush, public riots & demonstrations,
Education and Experience

Education:
  • Experience in either military or police would be favorable, or experience in an alternative security industry line of work
  • Secondary Education
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years experience in the UN, I/NGO, humanitarian agency, police, military in the field of security
  • Valid driving licence
  • Working knowledge and understanding of communications equipment including computers, radios, telephones, satellite telephones, and faxes
Professionalism:
  • Good inter-personal and communications skills and the ability to interact readily with UN staff members at all levels
  • Good report writing skills
  • Ability to interact and liaise with all levels of sources, i.e. local Somali sources, international sources, Transitional Federal Government (TFG) and Ethiopian sources and in particular their information units;
  • Ability to work under strict deadlines and under stressful conditions.
Language
  • Fluency in written and spoken English is required.
  • Good knowledge of colloquial Somali and dialects of Somali clans in South Central Somalia is required.
Other requirements
  • Candidates should be skilled in office-related computer applications.
  • Experience with a UN Mine Action Centre or Demining NGO will be an advantage.
  • Good written communication and report writing skills.
  • Candidates with experience in South Central Somalia and knowledge of bordering countries and the dynamics of cross border security related incidents are encouraged to apply.
