Vacancy: Medical Activity Manager

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international Non Governmental Organization. In MSF Spain Somalia mission we are currently recruiting for the position of a Medical Activity Manager, based in Nairobi (50%) and Somalia (50%).

Main Objectives of Position

Follows up medical activities (Maternity, OPD consultations-Tuberculosis- Violence, Stabilization Centre, Laboratory, Reference System and Response to Emergencies) in the project; ensures the proper implementation of medical protocols and the quality of medical care, analyses statistics and reports, supports medical staff involved in the medical activity.

He/She is the technical reference person for the medical field staff in the project.

Participates actively in the definition, planning, implementation and evaluation of all medical activities in the project area.

Required Skills

Education: Essential: Clinical Officer / Medical doctor.

Essential: Epidemiological knowledge.

Desirable: Training in tropical diseases.

Desirable: Complicated Nutrition management training and/or experience

Experience: Essential: Working experience of at least two years in relevant job.

Desirable: Working experience with MSF or other INGOs.

Desirable: Working experience in Somalia.

Languages: Essential: Fluent English and Somali spoken and written.

IT Knowledge: Essential: Computer knowledge (Office- advanced user level).

Fintrac - Commercial Agriculture Specialists

Fintrac Inc, an international agricultural consultancy company is inviting applications for the following positions to join its management and technical teams for the USAID-funded Kenya Horticulture Competitiveness Project (KHCP).

Senior Production Specialist - Horticulture

This is a senior management position requiring both specialist horticultural technical expertise and commercial business skills.

Candidates should ideally have a Master’s degree in agronomy with at least ten years private sector horticulture experience in Kenya.

A successful record in crop production and technology transfer and post-harvest management, horticultural marketing and comprehensive practical knowledge of current trade standards is advantageous.

Trade Promotion and Marketing Manager

KHCP works in partnership with private sector companies to support commercial smallholder production, crop processing, product development and establishment of efficient marketing systems.

The manager will lead the production of a continuous stream of market and competitiveness reports and analyses that can be utilized by all stakeholders in the agriculture sector.

Applications are invited from graduates in agricultural economics, marketing or a related subject who have the quantitative and analytical skills to provide high quality support to the technical team and its commercial partners.

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is an impartial, neutral and independent organisation with the exclusively humanitarian mission to protect the lives and dignity of victims of war and internal violence and to provide them with assistance.

It also endeavours to prevent suffering by promoting and strengthening International Humanitarian Law and universal humanitarian principles.

The ICRC’s Regional Delegation in Nairobi co-ordinates the institution’s humanitarian activities in Kenya, Tanzania and Djibouti.

It also runs regional specialist units that provide support and expertise to the ICRC’s delegations in East Africa, the Great Lakes region and the Horn of Africa.

Media Officer

The ICRC Regional Delegation in Nairobi is seeking an experienced and highly motivated person to fill the above-mentioned position:

The Responsibilities:
  • Focal point for ICRC media relations in Kenya, Tanzania and Djibouti;
  • Monitoring public opinion, press and providing the delegation with updates;
  • Organising seminars and workshops for the media/press officers;
  • Writing articles for the ICRC news/press releases and website on various ICRC activities in the region;
  • Distribution of ICRC public information releases to a regularly updated list of local and foreign media contacts;
  • Responsible for production of the Regional bulletin;
  • Responsible for Audio Visual production within the delegation;
  • Contribute articles to ICRC publications
  • Maintaining list of media contacts for the department;
  • Responsible for organising press visits to the field;
  • Provide technical support to the National Societies public relations and Communication departments on media related issues and activities;
  • Assist in organising and coordinating campaigns;
  • Assist in the preparation of plans and budgets for public relations issues.
The Requirements:
  • University degree in Journalism or Communications;
  • 3 years experience in similar function or media environment;
  • Computer literate (Word, Excel);
  • Excellent writing and good presentation skills;
  • Qualified in journalism or communication;
  • Knowledge of French an added advantage.
The Profile:
  • Must be a Kenyan citizen (Male or Female);
  • Excellent presentation and media skills with good organisational and analytical skills;
  • Ability to work independently, in a team and network widely;
  • Good interpersonal, reporting and writing skills;
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel in the countries covered by the Regional Delegation.
