Financial Controller

The Financial Controller will work with the Finance Director and the Country Director of CMMB Kenya to oversee the finance department and give regular reports to management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure that accounting transactions are processed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Conduct a verification of payments.
  • Supervision of Finance officers in the performance of their duties.
  • Review liquidation reports for all Local Partner Treatment Facilities (LPTF’s).
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
  • Minimum CPA Part 2 or higher
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting, Administration or relevant field.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Financial Controller.
  • Thorough knowledge of donor practices and USG accounting policies.
Office Manager

Ref: OM-001

Location: Kisumu, Kenya

The Office manager for Kisumu will work under the Administration and Finance Department to support CMMB programs in Kisumu office.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for daily office management
  • Organizes travel and accommodation for CMMB staff and partners.
  • Manages office petty cash and other duties
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business administration, Arts or other related field.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience managing a busy office.

CIDA Sustainable Economic Growth and Trade Advisor Job Vacancy


The Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) is seeking to contract a Sustainable Economic Growth and Trade Advisor.

The responsibilities include:
  • Providing project monitoring, analytical support and advice on ongoing and planned CIDA sustainable economic growth projects and programs in the areas of regional integration, private sector development and trade facilitation;
  • Supporting CIDAs participation in project meetings by analyzing meeting documents, participating in developing a platform for CIDA’s participation, and preparing documents, including talking points;
  • Providing timely reports, assessments and advice based on sound research and analysis of private sector development, economic growth and trade issues within the East African region;
  • Reviewing and commenting on the strategies and programs of CIDA and CIDA’s regional partners;
  • Following the programs of other donors in support of economic growth, regional integration and trade in East Africa, attending and reporting on donor meetings on CIDA’s behalf, and identifying potential opportunities for future involvement by the CIDA Regional Program;
  • Conducting project planning assessments in collaboration with other stakeholders;
  • Facilitating knowledge building and harmonization of efforts by CIDA with various stakeholders;
  • Performing other related tasks as requested.
This is a part-time contract covering an estimated period of 200 days over a sixteen to twenty month period. The approximate level of effort will be 10 days per month.

Mandatory Criteria
  • Master’s degree in economics, trade policy, business, public administration or a related field
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in the assessment, design, management and/or implementation of economic growth projects/programs in Eastern or Southern Africa;
  • Extensive experience in monitoring and/or evaluation of economic growth projects/programs;
  • Experience in providing analysis and advisory services to donors and other stakeholders, including senior government officials;
  • Knowledge of emerging trends and best practice in the design and implementation of regional integration, economic growth and trade facilitation projects/programs in Africa;
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience in the application of results—based management and gender equality, in particular as they apply to economic growth projects/programs;
  • Strong English language written and oral communication skills;
  • Legally and operationally able to work in Kenya;
  • No impediments to regional travel or in obtaining security clearance.

CNFA Deputy Chief of Party / Livestock Specialist Job Vacancy - Garissa, Kenya


CNFA Inc. is a Washington, DC - based, non - partisan, not - for - profit international development organization dedicated to stimulating sustainable economic growth and to reducing poverty around the world by nurturing entrepreneurship, agricultural enterprises and market linkages.

Applications are invited from qualified candidates for a three - year USAID funded program for the position of Deputy Chief of Party / Livestock Specialist based in Garissa.

The successful candidate will serve a fixed term contract to 31st May 2013.

Principal Responsibilities
  • Provides technical leadership for all issues related to the improvement of livestock productivity and competitiveness.
  • Manage the day-to-day project operations in the Garissa office and regularly reports on the progress of project development to the COP.
  • Provide programmatic guidance to the project staff based in Garissa.
  • Manage, motivate, and evaluate local staff based in Garissa in close collaboration with CNFA’s HQ in Washington, DC.
  • Support the project COP for the preparation of the project narrative reports, annual work plans, and other documents.
  • Maintain regular constructive communication with the two project sub-contractors i.e. KLMC and AGMARK.
  • Develop project collaboration with the public authorities in the District of Garissa and particularly with the Ministries of Livestock Development, Agriculture and the Provincial Administration.
  • Draft project memorandums of understanding with partners and follows their execution.
  • Promote the project in North Eastern Kenya and seeks leverage with other projects, donors, and investors.
  • Regularly visits project sites as well as the sub-contractor offices in those districts slated for intervention.
  • Inform the project COP about all issues which could cause serious harm to the project as well as to CNFA’s reputation and business.
  • Ensures that appropriate security procedures and roles are followed by the project staff and any other assignments or tasks at the request of his/her supervisor.
Qualifications

Education 
  • University degree in related field is required.
  • Diploma with extensive experience may be considered.
Work Experience:
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of progressive experience in program management.
  • Extensive knowledge of pastoral production systems and expertise in dry land management is mandatory.
Languages:
  • Fluency in oral and written English and Kiswahili.
  • Knowledge of Somali and Oromo language would be an asset.
