Operations Manager

Duma Works is recruiting an Operations Manager for one of our client.

Our client is a new coffee house brand that has entered the Kenyan market with the objective of offering a friendly quick ‘grab n go’ service, serving a range of espresso based coffee drinks and a variety of teas as well as a range of popular coffee accompaniments / snacks. 

The coffee house will initially operate three outlets within Nairobi with plans for a further roll out.

The Job: The company is looking for an Operations Manager.


The operations manager will be accountable for the achievement of each stores target, planning, organizing and coordinating with the branch / store supervisors for efficient and profitable services of food and beverages. 
The Operations Manager has the overall responsibility for directing the daily operations of the cafes, ensuring compliance with company standards as well as local health and safety regulations. 

Areas of operations include product delivery, customer relations, maintenance and repair, inventory management, team management, recruitment and retention of team members, financial accountability and ensuring the highest quality products and services are delivered to each customer.

Qualifications
  • A diploma in hospitality management or equivalent is the minimum, preferably from institutions like Utalii College.
  • Prior experience of at least 3 years in managing a restaurant at the level of branch/restaurant manager is a requirement.

Plant Engineer

Our client, a manufacturing company in the outcasts of Nairobi is seeking to recruit a Plant Engineer to lead their technical team.

Reports to: Plant Manager

Job Purpose: To manage the maintenance of plant and equipments, to significantly improve plant performance and reliability through the management and coordination of all maintenance and engineering activities within a large scale, complex, defined area.

To define, implement and manage a risk based maintenance strategy for area of control in order to meet the business, safety, environmental, financial and operations objectives at minimum cost and in the safest manner.

 
Principal Accountabilities
  • Manage, coordinate and control all aspects of engineering in order to meet agreed departmental objectives
  • Develop the maintenance strategy for a defined area in conjunction with the site engineer
  • Manage and control the maintenance strategy on a day to day basis, including routine, special and stop period maintenance and to develop and implement capital activities
  • Ensure control of hazards, health & safety and environmental standards and targets are met and maintained within defined company procedures and legislative requirements.
  • Identify areas for engineering and financial improvement and enable their inception whilst maintaining an appropriate level of availability and reliability of equipment
  • Ensure the safe and effective introduction of new equipment, capital expenditure and process improvement technologies.
  • Determine training requirements and prepare training plans
  • Prepare and manage engineering budgets, forecasts and plans
  • Undertake any other reasonable task as required (competence permitting)
Context: The position to manage the engineering activities ensuring optimum outputs are achieved in the most economic and safe manner whilst underpinning the integrity and infrastructure of the department.

Knowledge and experience

The job holder:-
  • Requires an expert understanding of maintenance and engineering processes and strategies
  • Requires knowledge and understanding of OSHA and the requirements of a top tier site
  • Bachelor’s degree with ideally a minimum of 8 years’ experience in process, technical or Engineering discipline .5 years must have been spent in a managerial role.
  • Will be able to demonstrate previous success in introducing risk based maintenance techniques into industrial/manufacturing organizations
  • Will be familiar with computerized maintenance management systems and working knowledge of SAP ERP would be an added advantage
  • Will ideally be professionally chartered engineer, with significant experience in risk based maintenance engineering and people management.
  • Must be fully conversant (advanced skill level) with MS Office Suite of Applications
Dimensions
  • Direct a team of engineers, inspectors, supervisors and craftsmen
  • Plant specific aspects include, heavy mechanical, bottling and electrical equipment, instruments, chemical plant materials handling and contract services

Programme Officers

Young Women Christian Association is a National Organization founded in 1912 whose purpose is to develop the leadership and collective power of women and girls to achieve social and economic empowerment, human rights, health, security, dignity, freedom, justice and peace for all humanity.
 
The Association invites application for the position of Programme Officers for its Mombasa Branch, Tana River Branch, Nairobi Branch and Meru Branch.
 
The successful candidates will report to the Branch Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Identify, build and maintain relationships with development agencies, policy, and research organizations that are critical to delivering its objectives and programmes.
  • Represent YWCA at relevant networks, workshops, seminars and policy events
  • Develop ideas and projects for formal collaboration with targeted development agencies, policy, and research organizations
  • Identify and track emerging opportunities through the institutional funding strategy and action plan
  • Contribute to design and development of project proposals
  • Manage projects with institutional funders in cooperation with YWCA Branch and National  Offices
  • Support the development of YWCA programming, including servicing and supporting projects
  • Manage and coordinate scheduled reporting to meet institutional donor reporting requirements
  • Work with Finance and National Office Programme staff to ensure programme and financial reports are up to date,
  • Develop and manage specifically commissioned and funded monitoring and evaluation initiatives both qualitative and quantitative
  • Coordinate overall programme portfolio to ensure key performance indicators are met and programme impact is in line with strategy
  • Contribute to strategic planning within the Branch, including annual and medium term planning and monitoring
  • Other tasks as assigned by the Branch Manager.
Minimum Requirements
  • Degree in Social Sciences or Advanced Diploma in Project Management
  • Three (3) years experience in  programme management
  • Good IT and Report writing skills
  • Desirable Skills
  • Capacity to conceptualize programme interventions
  • Comfortable planning and delivering multiple activities under pressure to strict deadlines and high levels of precision
  • Able to communicate complex issues in a concise, accessible and engaging way
