Writers

IBTCI seeks consultants who are experienced Writers to produce monthly reports which summarize and analyze raw data from third party monitoring of activities implemented by USAID - funded partners in Somalia. 

The consultant must be either a Kenyan or American citizen, preferably based in Nairobi. Report writers will be expected to produce timely, well-written, logically structured and well-documented reports.
 
Minimum Qualifications
  • Impeccable written English language skills with a proven ability to write succinctly, quickly and coherently to achieve high-quality written reports at the level required by USAID.
  • Must have at least one year of experience with monitoring and evaluation or report writing for USAID-funded programs, either as a staff or consultant.
  • Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Social Sciences, Medicine, English or relevant field.
  • Must be able to work fast and with attention to details.
  • Must be able to meet assigned deadlines in a pressured work environment.
  • Must be a Kenyan or American citizen.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience with proposal writing for USAID preferred.
  • Experience with journalism and research writing preferred.
  • Able to be flexible and adaptable as a writer, despite the quality of raw data received from Somali field teams.
  • Experience with implementation of programs in health, WASH, food security and livelihoods would be very useful for this writing consultancy.
  • Able to work independently and also within a team environment.

Job Requirements:
  • Ability to work independently and proceed with objectives without close supervision
  • Desire to serve farmers and others involved in the agriculture industry
  • Desire to remain updated with new agricultural trends and technology Self-motivation, willingness to learn and good work ethic
  • Ability to work outside during heat of day & ability to walk several miles per day
  • Training and guidance will be provided

  • Ability to communicate with the target communities in their local dialect i.e. Kalenjin language, Luhya language, Maasai language.
  • Allowance provided.
Educational Requirements: Degree or Diploma in Agriculture with emphasis on agronomy, crop, soil, weed management, agribusiness, or other agri-science course work.

Duration: 6 Months (possibility of turning into a full time position).

Logistics & Procurement Manager

ICAP of Columbia University is working in partnership with the Ministry of Health, Kenya to strengthen HIV Prevention, Care and Treatment services at County and Sub County health facilities.

This program is part of a US Government initiative against HIV in Kenya that receives funding from PEPFAR through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Position: Logistics & Procurement Manager
 
Location: Nairobi with travel to ICAP sites in the regions
 
 
Overall Job Function: Reporting to the Director- Finance & Administration, the Logistics & Procurement Manager will ensure the acquisition, supply / delivery, storage and disposal of goods and services, and logistics operations at optimum cost-effective levels in an expeditious and efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinating sourcing strategies and development of supply base, providing vendor listing for the supply of goods and services
  • Constantly survey to broaden and ensure a vendor base that is reliable and competitive
  • Manage logistics operations, including, vehicles, material and personnel and ensure efficient and timely delivery of service
  • Oversee the renovation and repair works for facilities supported by ICAP to ensure best value for money and delivery of quality
  • Ensure compliance of procurement activities with both ICAP and funder Standard Operating Procedures
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree and a diploma in purchasing and supplies management
  • 5 years’ experience in managing logistics and procurement.
  • Knowledge of international funding agencies procurement procedures and familiarity with commodity management tracking systems will be an asset
  • Good organization, interpersonal, negotiation and high level of computer skills, including excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and ERP systems
