The Kenya Chamber of Mines (KCM) - Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

The Kenya Chamber of Mines (KCM) is the leading mining sector representative in Kenya. 

Established in 2001 as a not-for-profit organization, KCM is the preferred interlocutor for government, communities and other stakeholders in the mining sector.
 
We are seeking to recruit a Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Reporting to the Executive Council (EC), the CEO has primary responsibility for the development and oversight of operations and programme development functions of KCM. 


The focus of this role is to provide leadership; develop and execute strategy for growth, create methods of accountability and measures to ensure exceptional service delivery to KCM members.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the EC in providing strategic direction, leadership for team to achieve KCM’s
  • Identify new programme initiatives and expand existing opportunities that align to KCM’s growth strategy
  • Prepare periodic, analytical and precise performance reports to the EC and make recommendations for improvements
  • Maintain knowledge on mining sector trends and developments locally, regionally and globally
  • Ensure compliance with in-house policies and procedures as well as statutory requirements
  • Facilitate exceptional service delivery to KCM members and stakeholders
  • Manage talent and lead the implementation of defined corporate culture, change management initiatives, etc.
Requirements
  • At least a Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university.
  • Strong professional experience and background in business development, marketing, financial accounting & corporate planning.
  • Candidate must possess strong leadership skills and excellent communication / presentation and social skills.
  • A Master’s degree, knowledge and/or experience in extractives and International experience will be an added advantage.
  • At least 10 years relevant working experience.

Members to the County Land Management Board
 
Busia County

Duration of Service: The members to the county land management board shall hold office for a term of five (5) years and shall not be eligible for re-appointment.

Job Specification
 

To qualify for the appointment as a member of the board a person shall be:
  • Be a citizen of Kenya and should be above 18 years of age
  • Hold a Degree in one of the following areas:
  1. Land and Natural Resources
  2. Agricultural and related fields
  3. Land Economics /Real Estate
  4. Land use Planning
  5. Survey
  6. Social Sciences
  7. Law
  8. Economics
  9. Management
  10. Accounting
  11. Any other related /relevant field
  • Meets the requirements of chapter six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010
  • Ordinarily a resident of the county where the board is being established
Duties of the County Land Management Board Member(s)
 
In the performance of their functions the county Land Management Board shall be subject to the Physical Planning and Survey acts and any other relevant statutes.

The duties of the board shall include:
  • Processing of the transactions to be approved by the Commission, allocation of public land, change of user, extension of user, subdivision of public land, renewal of leases,
  • Inspecting all the public land allotment in order to ensure that they adherence to Physical Planning requirements.
  • Encouraging use of Alternative and Traditional Dispute Resolution (ADR & TDR) mechanisms in land dispute.
  • Perform any other functions assigned by the commission or by any written law.

We are currently recruiting for two positions; Human Resources Manager and Accounts Administrator
 
1. Human Resources Manager
 

STC Kenya is currently seeking to recruit a qualified and committed individual to join its team as a Human Resources Manager for all operations in Kenya. 

Based in Nakuru, the Human Resources Manager will be a full-time member of the STC Kenyan team. 

Working closely with Country Projects Supervisor, the Human Resources Manager is expected to develop and lead Human Resources practices and objectives that will provide an employee-oriented, high performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality, productivity, goal attainment, and the recruitment and ongoing development of a superior workforce. 

Occasionally the organization will require his/ her expertise support for our sister project in Tanzania.

We are looking for a dedicated and qualified professional with several years’ management experience particularly in NGO set up. 

The preferred candidate will hold a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree, be computer literate, fluent in English and Kiswahili and most of all must be conversant with the in-country labour laws.

2. Accountants Administrator
 
The job involves performing accounts and general administrative duties, working in close collaboration with department heads. 

Ensuring proper financial management, assisting in the preparation of annual budgets and strict adherence to finance and administrative policies. 

Ensuring proper asset management, including procurement, labeling and updating the asset registers.
 
The prospective candidate will possess a first degree in Commerce or Business Administration (Accounting). 

With at least 3 years’ experience preferably in the NGO sector. 

A relevant professional qualification (CPA, procurement etc.) will be an added advantage. 

The position holder must be computer literate.
