Installation Technician

Duma Works is recruiting an Installation Technician for one of our clients. 

The company is an Internet Service Provider (ISP) in Kenya .

Location: Nairobi

Job Purpose: The field technician will conduct on-site installations and repairs as part of a team or individually. 

Field technicians interface with clients, install equipment on rooftops and run communication wiring. 


The ideal candidate will have a background in Computer Networking or similar field, be willing and able to perform physical labour and work efficiently and independently.

Duties include:
  • Install wireless networking equipment on building rooftops.
  • Install communications wiring.
  • Troubleshoot and repair wireless network installations.
  • Climb ladders.
  • Drive company vehicles.
  • Carry installation materials such as poles, masts and radios to installation sites.
  • Write out detailed reports outlining building/installation details and client requests.
Skill and knowledge Qualifications:
  • Proper professional etiquette including the ability to speak and write clearly, accurately and professionally.
  • Knowledge of customer service principles and practices.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in typing and grammar.
  • Basic computer skills, Linux networking skills preferred,
  • Computer degree in ICT.
  • At least 2 years experience in computer Networking.

The Role: This is a supervisory position which entails ensuring the day to day smooth running of the retail outlet. 

Key Responsibilities:
 
  • Performing sales duties:

Qualifications and Experience
  • Must possess management ability
  • Self driven and result oriented individual exhibiting discipline, professionalism and initiative.
  • Resilient and flexible team player and leader with ability to produce creative and pragmatic solutions to problems that may arise at work.
  • A quick learner, adaptable and able to work well under pressure with or without supervision.
  • First-rate communication and inter-personal skills with strong reporting abilities.
  • Minimum Diploma in Sales and Marketing from a recognized institution
  • At least 2 years’ experience in sales. Experience in managing a retail outlet is an added advantage.
