Company Description: nonprofit organization that runs innovative learning programs for young people in Kenya and Sierra Leone between the age 13-18.

Role Description: Reporting to the company's Chief Operating Officer, the Director of Programs will spearhead the implementation and development of flagship programs. 

This position will provide a range of experiences in program development with a high degree of influence and autonomy in a rapidly growing nonprofit organization as it launches the pilot InLab. 

Responsibilities:
  • Cultivate strong programmatic relationships with local partners (e.g. Ministry of Education, Corporates, Non Profit Organizations, etc).
  • Develop and consistently enhance core curriculum focused on design thinking.
  • Develop standalone workshops based on student interests. The company has been lucky to receive tools from Raspberry Pi, Makey Makey, SparkFun, Twenty One Toys, Autodesk and Adobe. These tools are used to guide students to identify real-world problems.
  • Run community events at the lab (e.g. exhibits, design challenges, family maker night) and engage family members and community members.
  • Implement Monitoring and Evaluation Operating Procedures.
  • Work with the educator-in-residence at the partner school to host regular STEAM related programs and co-develop their curricula into project-based activities.
  • Create a peer-to-peer mentorship structure, leveraging the InChallenge finalists. • Enhance the InChallenge program based on the evaluations from 2015 InChallenge programs.
Qualifications: 

The following attributes are essential for success in this role:
  • Preferably 3 years of experience implementing innovative pedagogy using new technology, developing curriculum and running STEAM workshops.
  • Experience working with learners age 13-18, as well as working with educators. 
  • Ability to operate effectively and adapt to changing circumstances in limited resource environments.
  • Significant experience in sub-Saharan Africa, preferably Kenya.
  • Alignment with the social impact mission the company.
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills.

ERP Support Specialist

ERP Support Specialist
 
Job Objective: To ensure efficient operations of the University’s integrated Management Information System (MIS) through user support and development.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Configuration and maintenance of Microsoft Dynamics AX – including Financials, CRM, Student Management, Examination Management and Inventory;
  • Installing new applications, and customizing existing applications to fit organizational and user needs;
  • Linking the MIS to the organizational Learning Management System
  • Monitoring system performance to provide fast query responses to front-end users;
  • Ensuring back-end organization of data and front-end accessibility for end-users;
  • Monitoring user access and security within the system;
  • Installing and testing new versions of the database management system (DBMS), and coordination of the changeover procedure;
  • Maintenance of data standards, including adherence to the Data Protection Policies and Procedures;
  • Communication with technical, applications and operational staff to ensure database integrity and security;
  • Resolution of basic hardware and network bottlenecks;
  • Carrying out research on the needs of users and improvement on their business procedures;
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, Business Information Technology or Information Systems from a recognized university.
  • At least TWO years’ experience in Database Management, including a working knowledge of SQL
  • Hands-on programming knowledge using Fourth Generation Languages
  • Hands on knowledge of web development and maintenance
  • Specific Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics or the holding of other Microsoft certifications such as MCSE or MCSA will be an added advantage
Other Skills & Competencies
  • Knowledge of ITIL
  • Proficient use of Ms. Office Suite
  • Ability to Work with cross functional teams
  • Ability to work under minimum supervision
