World Concern Driver/Mechanic Job in Lamu, Kenya

Position: Driver/Mechanic

County: Lamu-With frequent visits to the field 
Reports To: Project Manager
Supervises: None
Length of Contract: One year

Purpose
Responsible for organizing adequate, efficient and safe transport for the field based personnel and goods including maintaining and repairing of WC vehicles on a regular basis.

Responsibilities
  • Perform daily checks on the vehicles before and after any travels and also perform scheduled vehicle service
  • Maintain and repair different World Concern engine powered machines
  • Report to the supervisor any vehicle repair needs and ensure that repairs are appropriately done
  • Run errands for project operations as required by the staff
  • Responsible for the co-ordination and compilation of vehicle maintenance reports, ensuring these are submitted in a consistent and timely manner.
  • Drive the assigned vehicles within the laws of Kenya and in a safe manner
  • Transport project staff to required destinations as directed by Supervisor within the project boundaries.
  • Report all accidents however trivial to the supervisor
  • Maintain records of vehicle mileage and cleanliness of the vehicle
  • Report to the project base – vehicle movement to and from assigned locations
  • Exhibit good stewardship of all other resources that may be under your care.
  • Perform any other activities that may legitimately fall within the confines of the program
Qualifications, Experience, Attributes & Skills required
  • Demonstrable driving experience and Mechanical background a must with valid certifications and a valid driving license.
  • At least 3 years of driving and mechanic experience
  • Certificate of good conduct
  • Good communication skills, positive, flexible and responsible attitude.
  • Radio communication skills
  • Previous field experience shall be an added advantage.
  • High sense of responsibility and reliability
  • Previous experience in a similar role with other organizations desirable

Key Responsibilities:
 
The following are the key responsibilities, which are focused on independently conducting Audit assignments:
  • Execute audit plan and prepare reports on current best practices and benchmarks on risk management;
  • Implement internal audit strategies, policies and procedures;
  • Collect audit evidence and verify the existence and safety of the company’s assets;
  • Undertake risk assessment and documentation of Company risk profile;
  • Carry out periodic audit reviews/assessment to assess the effectiveness of risk management and the adequacy of internal controls;
  • Document results of audit fieldwork and drafting of internal audit reports; and

Qualifications and competence
  • Business related degree preferably in Accounting/Finance;
  • Certified Public Accounting Part II or Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Part II;
  • Proficiency in computer applications with exposure to use of ERP and Computer Aided Audit Techniques (CAATS);
  • Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) qualifications an added advantage;
  • Results oriented with at least two years (2) of relevant experience preferably in FMCG;
  • Team player with good communication skills with the ability to work under pressure;
  • Possess report writing and presentation skills.
2. Chief Human Resource and Administration Officer

Key Responsibilities:
  • Identifying and meeting the company’s human resourcing needs;
  • Updating of Job Descriptions across the company;
  • Facilitating training and development;
  • Recommending and implementing structural reviews through effective appraisal systems, grading, and compensation;
  • Ensuring adherence to statutory requirements and representing the company in the necessary forums that relate to the regulation of labour relations
  • Promoting productive working relations by fair handling of disputes and grievances;
  • Directing and controlling staff in HR department
  • Managing the company medical and other welfare schemes in line with company guidelines and policies;

  • Demonstrated managerial, administrative and professional competence in work performance and exhibited a thorough understanding of the Labour Laws, national goals, policies and objectives and ability to relate them to Human Resource and Administration function.

DSW seeks to recruit a National Department Manager-Programmes and Projects to be based in Nairobi. The National Department Manager will be supervised by the Country Director.
 
The National Department Manager-Programmes and Projects is the link between the Country Director (CD) dealing with strategic decisions and the operationalization of the strategic goals and objectives at country office level. 
(S)He works in close cooperation with the Country Director and the other National Department Managers to ensure the effective and efficient planning, implementation and evaluation of projects within his/her area of responsibility. 
The National Department Manager-Programmes and Projects is part of the Country Office Management Team. 
The National Department Manager works in close cooperation with the respective ITMs on the international level and follows up the day to day working relation with the National Team Coordinators of the programmes and projects department.
 
Areas of responsibility for this position include:
 
Organisational development
  • Provide strategic recommendations to the CD regarding departmental inputs to the implementation of the strategic plan objectives
  • Support the CD in staffing decisions
  • Support the CD with the development and implementation of organisational strategies, policies and procedures
  • Support the National Team coordinators in the programmes and projects department in the implementation of departmental or DSW strategies which take place in close collaboration with the ITM’s Management
  • Ensure the development , implementation, monitoring and reporting of programmes and projects of the department and their alignment with the DSW strategic plan indicators
  • Supervision of country office Programmes and Project staff; provide direction and leadership
  • Establish and/or maintain relations with implementing partner, other organizations and donors relevant for programme work
  • Coordinate and contribute to resource mobilisation efforts of the department Operational responsibilities
  • Ensure timely submission of input to concept notes, proposals, reports and other documents
  • Ensure a proper documentation of project work, including best practice, evaluation reports, etc.
  • Development and implementation of training and coaching programmes
  • Provide technical support for the departments team coordinators
  • Represents DSW overall interest and perspectives towards external and internal stakeholders
  • Development and implementation of appropriate tools and other project related guidelines for improved programme implementation, monitoring and impact assessment, in close consultation with the respective ITMs
  • Any other duties assigned by the country director
Minimum requirements:
  • Minimum of Bachelors Degree in Social Sciences, Population, Public Health, Development work or related fields coupled with Training in Project Management. A relevant Masters degree and/or postgraduate diploma in Project management is an added advantage.
  • At Least 8 years progressive working experience in a busy environment within an international non-profit organization
  • Experience in the management of EU and US funded projects
  • Excellent problem solving and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and to deliver results at short notice
  • Excellent team player with good communication skills in spoken and written English and Swahili.
