Security Firm Training and Recruitment Manager Job in Kenya


Our client is a mid-size security firm in Kenya, with nationwide presence and with expertise to provide the most reliable security services in Kenya, and is currently looking for a Training and recruitment Instructor, who will be responsible in developing and facilitating implementation of the company security personnel training strategy.

The Job role:

Duties and Responsibilities:
  •  Participate in vetting recruits before training
  • Offer a thorough basic practical and theory security training that adheres to the company’s approved syllabus including disciplinary guidelines on dressing, hygiene, general turn out and security procedures.
  • Assess candidates ability to work independently, use  common sense and their intelligent quotient and Recommending trainees on their individual suitability for specified deployment
  • Developing a time table that accommodates seminars, lectures, drills and demonstrations
  • Conducting the pass out parade for successful graduates
  • Perform inspection and on job training for guards and supervisors
  • Preparation security induction training for beginners, follow up courses for those who don’t complete basic training and refresher courses for serving guards
  • Ensure all guards produce all required documents and sign all necessary employment forms
  • Developing and maintain training information database on each individual e.g. attendance roster, training, performance and talents
  • Conducting employee training needs assessments in consultation with departments / sections managers and managers and supervisors and provision of effective solutions to the identified needs
  • Preparation of a comprehensive annual, monthly and weekly training and development plan and budget
  • Coordinating implementation of established technical and professional courses provided courses provided by training institutions
  • Organize security personnel appraisals linking performance to agreed scheduled targets to provide counseling for staff
  • Monitoring effectiveness of training by carrying out post training performance and evaluation programs to assess impact on employee operations
  • Developing security personnel training manuals’, multimedia visual aids and other educational materials for use
  • Developing and maintaining skills inventory database of the security personnel
  • Appraise disciplinary trainee’s progress
  • Provide a pool of trained personnel for emergencies, stand bys, new orders e.t.c.
  • Any other duties as may be assigned by the line manager
Knowledge & skills:
  • Must be keen and detail-oriented
  • Possess good planning and management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Honest and upholds integrity
Experience/Qualifications
  • Age 35-45
  • Proven training experience preferably in disciplinary forces
  • National Youth Service Training is REQUIRED
  • Hold a similar post in a security firm
  • Education qualification  in security management

Power Engineer Project Manager Job in Kenya


Our client is a global power leader, is a corporation of complementary business units that design, manufacture, distribute and service engines and related technologies, including fuel systems, controls, air handling, filtration, emission solutions and electrical power generation systems,and is currently looking for a Project Manager

The Project Managers role would be to  ensure orders and contracts for gas engine genset packages and extended scope of supplies up to turnkey projects are delivered on time, to budget and to customer requirements.

Reporting to the General Manager

Key Responsibilities
  • Involvement in the sales process – responsible for highlighting possible commercial or technical issues to
  • Providing commercial support for pricing
  • Providing support for programme and procurement strategy
  • On receipt of order responsible for delivery of project on time and budget. Estimated size €350K - €4M
  • Contracting Strategy and management of project team including Engineering and Procurement
  • Entering customer orders onto Cummins Oracle system, raising acknowledgements, shipping documents and invoices where necessary.
  • Agreeing final specification and price of bought in components and services
  • Representing Cummins at site and progress meetings mostly on customer sites.
  • Expediting components and services.
  • Approval of third party supplier invoices.
  • Managing project profit margin, customer expectations and programme.
  • Acknowledge scope and commercial details with customer.
  • Assist engineering in processing the order/contract providing leadership support where necessary
  • Continued liaison, including visits, with customer and major sub-suppliers.
  • Advise Operations and Maintenance Manager of any commissioning necessary and Training dept for any training.
  • Provide single point of support for commissioning activities to handover.
  • Management of receivables within payment terms and customer risk profile.
Requirements
  • Qualified Project Manager or Contracts engineer with suitable experience, preferably in the Power Generation or similar industry, ideally involving gas reciprocating equipment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills along with good oral / written communication skills.
  • Fully conversant with personal computers, Microsoft Office/Excel programmes and MIS systems.
  • Disciplined, methodical and capable of producing quality work to meet demanding schedules.
  • Ability to adopt a pro-active, systematic approach to problem solving.
  • Good time management.

Qualified to HNC (Essential) / Degree (Optional) or equivalent, in mechanical or electrical engineering.

She/he will advise employers on negotiation procedures, employment matters, and represent them in trade disputes at the Ministry of Labour and the Industrial court. 
She/he will also be expected to contribute to membership satisfaction and growth through quality service delivery as well as recruitment of new members.

Minimum Requirements;
  • LLB from a recognized university, Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, 
  • At least 7 years post qualification experience with proven track record in litigation, 
  • Sound knowledge of labour laws and industrial relations, 
  • Demonstrated competency in drafting legal instruments including employment Contracts, memoranda, opinions and organization policies and manuals, 
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with Trade Unions and handle disputes, grievances and disciplinary issues, 
  • Ability to negotiate and prepare Collective Bargaining Agreements,

Minimum Requirements
  • MBA (Marketing), Bachelors degree in Social Sciences, Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing and at least 8 years experience in a senior management position in Marketing, Marketing campaign.
Key skills include; Effective team management, Interpersonal skills and ability to work across functions, Excellent strategic marketing (including pricing), creative and commercial agency management skills. Previous experience in a membership organization is a key advantage.
