Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Chief Nursing and Clinical Programmes Officer, the Director, Nursing & Clinical Programmes will oversee the Nursing Services Division and the Surgery; Maternal, Neonatal & Child Health; Ambulatory and Medicine programmes.
 
S/he will lead the formulation and implementation of policies and the preparation of annual capital, operational and staffing budgets of the Division.
 
S/he will ensure the effective use of resources for all areas of responsibility and monitor the quality of services provided against performance indicators thereby enhancing the provision of quality care to the patients.
 
Working closely with the Director, Nursing Practice, the incumbent will assist in identifying areas of improvement in nursing practice, initiate systematic studies and implement effective solutions.

Qualifications:
  • Applicants must have an MSc in Nursing,
  • 8-10 years of relevant management experience in a Hospital and/or international health organization.
  • A Doctorate degree (PhD) will be an added advantage.
  • S/he should be an effective decision maker who promotes a patient centered approach and has the ability to positively interact with and influence healthcare practitioners.

Emergency Response Officer Job in Kwale Kenya - Kwale Mineral Sands Project

Role purpose and scope
 
Reporting to the Occupational Health and Safety Manager, the Emergency Response Officer will assist the OHS Manager in establishing, maintaining and operating best practice emergency response teams and equipment; and, emergency response readiness for the project.

Key accountabilities include:
  • Assist in the development and implementation of all Emergency Response policies, procedures and inspection schedules
  • Conduct Fire audits
  • Rescue vehicles, Emergency equipment and field response inventories are checked weekly
  • Check operation of all emergency equipment weekly
  • Ensure all fire incidents are fully investigated and recorded within the site safety data base in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Conduct Emergency Response, fire awareness and other associated training programs to continually develop ERT personnel.
  • Develop fire awareness training programs for other Departments, contractors and the community as required.
  • Ensure all ERT vehicles are in a state of ready response and are checked each shift and restored to full service after any usage.
Qualifications and experience:
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in fire fighting and emergency response disciplines.
  • Successful completion of accredited emergency services training.
  • Current Kenyan heavy truck and car license essential.
  • Ability to operate a fire tender and pumps including foam systems without supervision.
  • Well-developed written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrate an ability to work in a challenging environment with a multinational workforce with minimal supervision and high ethical standards.
  • The ability to build/work in a harmonious work team.
  • Ability to write reports and have good computer skills in Word & Excel.
  • Proven self-management and supervisory skills.
  • Good demonstrable skills in radio / telephone procedures.

Position: Occupational Health & Safety Officer

Reporting to the Occupational Health & Safety Manager, the OHS Officer will be responsible for training staff and contractors in matters relating to Occupational Health and Safety as well as assisting with the implementation and follow-up with participants post training up to date advice OH& S matters for a fixed term of twelve months during construction and commissioning.

Key accountabilities include:
  • Conduct safety related inductions.
  • Prepare training reports.
  • Providing OHS information to the employees, contractors and visitors.
  • Collate and enter safety inspection reports into central data bases.
Qualifications and experience:
  • Hold a tertiary qualification. Proven experience in lieu of a tertiary qualification will be considered.
  • Have 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Be familiar with the legislative and statutory requirements of OH&S.
  • Possess good oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrate an ability to work in a challenging environment with a multinational workforce with minimal supervision and high ethical standards.

Position: Project Employee Relations Facilitator

Under supervision of the HR Manager, The Employee Relations Facilitator will be the first point of contact for SML Contractors registration users to provide information and support on employee relations issues and to help ensure a fair and consistent approach to organizational policies and procedures, thus promoting a positive ER culture within the business, whilst minimizing risks.
 
This position is for a fixed term of twelve months during construction and commissioning.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • To under guidance of the HR Manager provide support in delegated matters relating to employee relations.
  • To facilitate effective case management of people related issues as assigned.
  • To assist in the maintenance of relationships with the business to promote good employee relations across the organization.
  • Monitoring trends in employment practices for appropriate proactive action.
  • Ensuring consistency in employment practices and the employee experience throughout the Project phase.
  • Ensuring adherence to ER policy, procedure, and practices, influencing appropriate stakeholders to resolution and escalating issues to management and internal partners as appropriate.
  • Facilitation of constructive dialogue and resolution of workplace conflict.
  • Mitigating risk to the organization in resolving ER related issues.
  • Conducting internal investigation of ethics line complaints and other types of internal investigations requiring appropriate handling as needed.
  • Ensuring consistent interpretation and application of employment policy and practice in all aspects of the employment relationship.
  • Assist in ER case handling as assigned by the HR Manager.
  • Undertake periodic LRIMP and Contractor compliance audits.
Skills Required / Desired:
  • A degree in a business related/social science field.
  • A higher Diploma in Human Resources Management.
  • At least 6 years continuous HR generalist working experience, 3 of which should be in an ER role.
  • Excellent communication/presentation skills and ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management and across all functional areas.
  • Competent IT skills.
  • Good knowledge of Kenyan employment law, International best Practice.
  • Experience in working with Employee Councils in un-unionized employment will be an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of ER procedures and processes, extensive employee relations investigation experience.
  • Previous working experience in a multi-cultural, fast paced work environment is desirable.
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced, team-oriented, multi-cultural environment.
  • Consistent demonstration of ownership and accountability (driven to ‘do the right thing’)
