CAP Youth Empowerment Institute Kenya, supported by MasterCard Foundation, is established to provide Basic Employability Skills Training (BEST) for disadvantaged youth with particular focus on women to get equitable, qualitative learning and access to promising labour market oriented opportunities, savings and credit that support their pathways to safe and positive futures.

The key purpose of the organization is to assist 10,000 disadvantaged youth to make informed choices, develop labour-market oriented employability skills and access job placements, savings and enterprise development support.
 
About the position
 
Successful candidate will be based at CAP offices in Westland’s with occasional travel to the field to collect information. 
He/she will be tasked to develop content for website, develop newsletters, develop articles prepare presentations.

Job Responsibilities
  • Using the written word to express ideas or tell a story.
  • Process and Documentation Management.
  • Create content using various multimedia formats that can be read, listened to, or viewed onscreen.
  • Develop original content for short stories and case studies.
  • Write content for magazines, journals, newsletters, and blogs.
  • Develop scripted material for the Web and other communication devices.
  • Fostering the creation of local factsheets.
  • Sourcing relevant local content.
  • responsible for the social media strategy in the company
  • Write outlines and rough drafts.
  • Appropriately source and cite resources.
  • Edit content for correct spelling and grammar.
  • Competencies Required:
  • Highly innovative and a strong communicator.
  • Organized and analytical, and understand how to use computer programs related to their work, such as Illustrator or Photoshop.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and handle diverse tasks simultaneously using prioritization.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent Presentation skills.
  • Dynamism, creativity and flexibility.
  • Experience in content creation.
Requirements
  • Strong computer skills in CorelDraw, PageMaker, Photoshop, publisher and other DTP software.
  • Must have experience developing electronic newsletter, progress reports, process documentation, web site content development, brochures and case studies.
  • Past NGO experience is desirable.
  • Skills and passion in photography.
  • Well versed with Photoshop, Publisher and Page Maker
  • Well versed in Social Media Management
  • Must possess the right skills, knowledge and attitude.
  • Strong portfolio of artwork.
  • Experience in content management is desirable.
  • Past experience as a blogger will be an added advantage.
  • Young person aged 25 to 30 years of age.
  • Degree in journalism/ mass communication/ Public Relations/Marketing.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, while ensuring that project deliverables are on track according to the organization’s identified needs.

S/he will lead the formulation and implementation of policies and the preparation of annual capital, operational and staffing budgets of the Division.
 
S/he will ensure the effective use of resources for all areas of responsibility and monitor the quality of services provided against performance indicators thereby enhancing the provision of quality care to the patients.
 
Working closely with the Director, Nursing Practice, the incumbent will assist in identifying areas of improvement in nursing practice, initiate systematic studies and implement effective solutions.

Qualifications:
  • Applicants must have an MSc in Nursing,
  • 8-10 years of relevant management experience in a Hospital and/or international health organization.
  • A Doctorate degree (PhD) will be an added advantage.

Emergency Response Officer Job in Kwale Kenya - Kwale Mineral Sands Project

Our client, a Kenyan subsidiary of the Australian company is developing the globally significant Kwale Mineral Sands Project about 50km south of Mombasa. 
It is a creative resource company that places a strong emphasis on being part of the community in which it operates and on attracting and developing good people. 
We are looking for a Pragmatic and pro-active candidate with strong integrity and who work well in a team environment.
 
Role purpose and scope
 
Reporting to the Occupational Health and Safety Manager, the Emergency Response Officer will assist the OHS Manager in establishing, maintaining and operating best practice emergency response teams and equipment; and, emergency response readiness for the project.

Key accountabilities include:
  • Assist in the development and implementation of all Emergency Response policies, procedures and inspection schedules
  • Conduct Fire audits
  • Rescue vehicles, Emergency equipment and field response inventories are checked weekly
  • Check operation of all emergency equipment weekly
  • Ensure all fire incidents are fully investigated and recorded within the site safety data base in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Conduct Emergency Response, fire awareness and other associated training programs to continually develop ERT personnel.
  • Develop fire awareness training programs for other Departments, contractors and the community as required.
  • Ensure all ERT vehicles are in a state of ready response and are checked each shift and restored to full service after any usage.
Qualifications and experience:
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in fire fighting and emergency response disciplines.
  • Successful completion of accredited emergency services training.
  • Current Kenyan heavy truck and car license essential.
  • Ability to operate a fire tender and pumps including foam systems without supervision.
  • Well-developed written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrate an ability to work in a challenging environment with a multinational workforce with minimal supervision and high ethical standards.
  • The ability to build/work in a harmonious work team.
  • Ability to write reports and have good computer skills in Word & Excel.
  • Proven self-management and supervisory skills.
  • Good demonstrable skills in radio / telephone procedures.
