Objective of Position
  • Oversee ALL Hygiene and sanitation promotion operations, sensitizations in our target communities and
  • Provide guidelines related to Public Health and Observe standards of hygiene promotion in a refugee context.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Facilitate in capacity building of all hygiene and sanitation activities by assisting HYSAN Officer to access communities
  • Take responsibility to report and counter emergencies such as cholera, diarrhea or HYSAL related illnesses with the Ministry of Public Health and Sanitation. Distribution of NFIs and water purifiers
  • Attend and represent Islamic Relief in community meetings and others related to this post
  • Assist in follow up of standards, designs and guidelines related to construction of sanitary facilities such as latrines, bathrooms, waste pits, hand wash points etc while observing environmental conservation in our target sites
  • Take lead in supervisions and monitoring of latrines construction in terms on Numbers and movement of materials
  • Submit and compile reports at the end of every month
  • Update and maintain a clean beneficiary register during project period
  • Report to IRK soonest possible in case of any irregularity or activity that may/will disrupt HYSAN trucking activity is suspected
  • Behave maturely and reasonably and in a conflict situation all the times and solve disputes, confusion without taking sides.
  • Lead the Solid waste workers in keeping ifo camp clean
  • Provide any relevant information to IRK regarding HYSAN activities, updates.
  • Fill the beneficiary distribution lists and file. Keep proper filing records
Required skills & experience:
  • Diploma, Certificate in Public Health, community health or its equivalent from a recognized institution
  • Vast knowledge of HYSAN promotion approaches at community level and skills ie. CLTS
  • Knowledge of Millennium Development Goals and their relevance,
  • Not less than 2 years experience of WASH projects (Preferably with in Dadaab).
  • Experience in Northern Kenya will be an advantage
  • Good Project Cycle Management, reporting and documentation skills
  • Experience in working in unsecure zones with knowledge in Standard Operation Procedures
  • Knowledge of International and National Standards/policies governing WASH programmes i.e SPHERE and Water Act 2002
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English,
  • Demonstrated ability for strategic thinking and analysis,
  • Experience of work with a team in a multi-cultural environment in emergency and development settings and good team leadership,
  • Positive and ability to build consensus in problem solving,
  • Able to engender credibility, confidence and respectability, and
  • A focus on results, balanced with a sensitive and honest approach to people.

Objective of Position
 
To perform both Physical and Biological water quality analysis and recommend/report appropriately as well as ensure only water fit for human consumption is being supplied to the communities we serve.
 
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensure the Dosing machines in respective water points [source] are in good working order
  • Take responsibility to report and counter emergencies such as cholera, diarrhea or HYSAL related illnesses with the Ministry of Public Health and Sanitation. Distribution of NFIs and water purifiers
  • Troubleshoot cause of water related diseases and emergencies as in case of bullet 2 above
  • Provide weekly water quality reports and compile at the end of the month
  • Take samples of water for further analysis [Biological] incase such need is required
  • Update and maintain a clean Water Quality filing system
  • Report to IRK soonest possible in case of any irregularity or activity that may/will compromise water quality and provide best ways of
  • Behave maturely and reasonably and in a conflict situation all the times and solve disputes, confusion without taking sides.
  • Take lead in identifying water shortages and ensure water supplied to PoCs either by trucking or otherwise is fit for consumption
  • Provide any relevant information to IRK regarding Water quality and updates
  • Expedite process of countering emergencies related to water quality
  • Perform trainings on best ways of handling domestic water as well as simple methods of treating water such as boiling, use of purr and water guards
  • Ensure adequate chlorine at water treatment centers
Required skills & experience:
  • Certificates/Diploma in Public Health, Water Engineering, Water Quality and community health or its equivalent from a recognized institution
  • Vast knowledge of Water Quality Analysis approaches at community level and skills

Objective of Position
 
To manage and implement the WASH projects at field level by maintaining effective operational water supply systems in our areas of operation, accurate, technical, and narrative reporting corresponding to IR’s/Donor Guidelines as well as proposal development.
 
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Planning and design of construction of WASH activities elevated tanks, rising mains and distribution pipeline, reservoir tanks repair, latrines, disposal pits and waste collection bins with approval of WASH coordinator.
  • Design tools for assessment with WASH Coordinator and supervise teams to carry out assessments effectively,
  • Monitor the WASH project at field level in close collaboration with local authority/UNHCR teams and other INGOs and NGOs in the area,
  • Monitor and review the over all WASH materials and equipments movements such as deliveries, storage, transport and utilization at the site level,
  • To ensure and verify the quantity of spare parts, equipments and other water materials are ordered and received, and properly recorded for damage or suspected to be damaged or expired,
  • Ensure that the activities of health and sanitation education, personal hygiene and water development committees formation are properly planned and the implementation supervised,
  • Represent IR in the water coordination meetings and in liaising with INGOs, NGOs and local authority
  • Ensure the quality of water supplied is of good standard and safe for consumption and advise/recommend appropriately
  • Arrange for local water and sanitation meetings within IR Kenya Dadaab County
  • Ensure the proper implementation of action plan, review achievements, constraints, lessons learnt and provide feedback,
  • Ensure regular reporting system in place, especially on water quality and environmental hygiene by liaising with other staff in the department
  • Supervise and train other WASH staffs,
  • Support monitoring and evaluation activities
  • Prepare TORs and/or engagement documents with WASH coordinator to initiate the procurement of goods, services and works as deemed necessary for the effective and efficient performance of the task,
  • Identify any apparent issues in the WASH project and report immediately, and perform other related duties as required.
  • Prepare Reports and Proposal development related to WASH
Required skills & experience:
  • University degree in Civil/Water Engineering or its equivalent from a recognized institution
  • Relevant experience in project formulation, management, policy and strategy research and formulation in related field
  • Knowledge of Millennium Development Goals and their relevance,
  • Not less than 2 years experience of WASH projects. Experience Dadaab will be an advantage
  • Good Project Cycle Management, reporting and documentation skills
  • Experience in working in unsecure zones with knowledge in Standard Operation Procedures
  • Knowledge of International and National Standards/policies governing WASH programmes i.e SPHERE and Water Act 2002
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English,

Overall Responsibility
 
The successful candidate will be responsible for promoting and maintaining high standards of professional nursing care by planning, organizing, and controlling nursing care services in the A&E department while ensuring consistent provision of efficient and ethical care to achieve quality nursing care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform regular rounds within the unit to ensure smooth triage, observation, admission, transfer and referral of patients that enhances patient safety and quality patient care
  • Supervise and control staff members in the unit. This will include preparing monthly duty Rota and daily duty allocation to the staff members and liaising with Nurse Supervisor to ensure the patient care load is addressed with the appropriate staffing and skill mix in an environment which is safe for the patient and nurse.
  • Ensure that all policies and procedures on personnel, equipment and supplies are in place and adhered to.
  • Perform quality improvement rounds to include all patient areas to influence a safe patient care environment.
  • Identify staff training needs as well as organize for Continuous Nursing Education.
  • Participate in the Nursing Quality improvement activities and institutional quality activities.
  • Organise and hold regular departmental meetings to enhance multidisciplinary collaboration and team work
  • Lead the team in Emergency preparedness and Disaster management Activities.
Requirements
  • Bsc Nursing or above.
  • Excellent cardiac, medical, surgical, trauma and resuscitation knowledge.
  • BLS / ACLS certificate and other unit specific certification requirements.
  • At least three years working experience in nursing practice and administration in an A&E department.
  • Valid Kenyan nursing practice licence.
  • Working knowledge of a Hospital Management Information System.
