Service delivery requirements include:

Answering phone calls and responding to customer requests and orders

This position requires a self-starter who possesses a desire to make things happen and about 5 years of working experience in some supervisory level

Experience in technology oriented service _rms, mobile telephony, BPO call centres, fleet management systems, etc will be an added advantage

A University business degree is a pre-requisite

The Team leader will:

GROOTS Kenya Project Assistant Job Vacancy

GROOTS Kenya is a nonprofit organization registered in Kenya under Section 10 of the Society’s Act. It is a national movement of organized community based and self help groups that are women led. 
GROOTS Kenya theory of change is to shift the role of grassroots women in disadvantaged communities from vulnerable, victimized recipients of charity to empowered, effective leaders in community development work.
 
One of our core program is Women Leadership and Governance within which all other programs are anchored. 
The objective of this program is to empower women, improve their capacities in leadership and create an environment in which together with their communities they drive demand for accountability in public resource allocation, delivery of services and protection of human rights
 
GROOTS Kenya is therefore seeking to hire a Project Assistant to work on the Champion for Transformative Project which is a flagship of the above program.
 
Terms of reference:
 
The project assistant will work closely with the Program Officer and under the direction and guidance of the Programs Coordinator to undertake the following tasks;
  • Assist in organizing capacity development initiatives related to women’s participation in the leadership and governance.
  • Assist the Program Officer to develop strategies and interventions that will accelerate grassroots women participation in both local and national elective and nomination positions of leadership and decision making.
  • Assist the Program Officer in-charge in organizing grassroots women, men and youths to addresses issues that hinder women participation in leadership.
  • Support the program officer in backstopping the implementation of work/action plans developed by communities working with GROOTS Kenya.
  • Support in reporting, monitoring, evaluating implementation as well as expansion of the Champions for Transformative Leadership Project and initiatives relating to women participation in leadership and governance in GROOTS Kenya.
Qualifications:
 
Education: Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university within the Humanities and Social Science related disciplines.
 
Experience: At least 2 years of professional experience in community development work with a focus to women & youth empowerment
 
Other qualifications include:
  • Strong organizing skills;
  • Has demonstrated a passion to work with grassroots communities;
  • Must be computer literate with strong communication skills;
  • Capacity to generate and write program reports within strict deadlines;
  • Capacity to write proposals and concepts for purposes of fundraising is desirable;
  • A strong understanding of the laws of Kenya & the current political and social environment is an added advantage
Terms of Offer
 
The successful candidate shall be subjected to probation for 5 months.
 
During this period the candidate shall be issued with a temporary contract.
 
A long-term contract shall be issued upon a successful appraisal at the expiry of the probation period

We aim to help the needy regardless of race, religion or gender.
 
Objective of Position
 
To enhance community awareness on best practices in Hygiene and Sanitation activities through participatory learning exercises with the community taking in to regard issues such as gender equality, cultural norms and WHO standards in Hygiene and Sanitation.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Mobilize and sensitize Hygiene and sanitation committees and PoCs of project areas on Personal Hygiene and Environmental Sanitation
  • Mobilize and sensitize Communities on importance of safe drinking water and safe solid waste disposal
  • Disseminate Preventive Health massages on safe hygiene and sanitation practice to targeted beneficiaries
  • Conduct demonstrations on safe and appropriate hygiene and sanitation practices to project beneficiaries
  • Participate in needs assessment and develop appropriate training curriculums based on specific  communities’ needs
  • Take lead in design and carrying out House hold surveys and other assessments for reporting purposes
  • Maintain a close working relationship with MoH, MoPHS, DPHOs, Agencies and NGOs/CBOs and other relevant government departments
  • Participate and take lead in project evaluation surveys with other actors.
  • Lead other team members determine and plan on appropriate means of disseminating health messages and information on hygiene and sanitation.
  • Distribution of hygiene and sanitation tools, equipments and other supplies to beneficiary communities and keeping proper records
  • Proposal and budget development
  • Keep a clean record of HYSAN items in the store and monitor movement in and out.
  • Maintain a close working relationships with other projects within IRK, to ensure a more comprehensive [Integration] and harmonized approach towards programme implementation to maximize impact.
  • Write comprehensive progress reports with facts and figures to illustrate developments in project implementation
  • Put contingency measures for emergencies such as cholera break outs
  • Undertake any other duty as may be assigned from time to time
Required skills & experience:
  • Diploma in Community Health & Development, Public Health or equivalent from recognized institution
  • At least 2 years experience in implementing HYSAN activities with an INGO or UN.
  • Experience in Dadaab will be added advantage
  • Vast knowledge of HYSAN promotion approaches at community level and skills ie. CLTS
  • Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of basic computer packages
  • Capacity to plan, implement and manage a public health project
  • Computer literate
  • Excellent public speech skills [Fluent local Language]
  • Strong community mobilization and sensitization skills
  • Excellent report writing skills
  • A team member and a team leader with excellent team building and team work skills
Expected Outputs
 
The HYSAN Team Leader contribution in the project will steer IRK to realize the following result:
  • Reduced prevalence of Hygiene related diseases
  • Improved Integration between HYSAN and other IRK Programmes
  • Clear established working guidelines for HYSAN Team
  • Comprehensive reporting system
