Civil Works Supervisor

Ref: TECHOLOGY-CWS-MAR-2013
 
Reporting to the Regional Implementation Manager, the holder of the position will be in charge of the overall responsibility relating to civils works (construction changes) within existing sites, ranging from optimization to health and safety corrective measures.

Key Responsibilities
  • To design various elements of civil works or construction required on existing sites;
  • To evaluate and approve or amend designs submitted by contractors to achieve optimal civil works implementation;
  • To supervise from time to time implementation of various construction works on existing sites;
  • To ensure that all existing site infrastructure is in compliance to Safaricom’s Health and Safety policy;
  • To generate high level dashboard reporting of all major projects in Regional Network Operations;
  • To conduct acceptance tests on optimization projects with regard to agreed checklists and standards.
Minimum requirements
  • BSC in Civil / Construction Engineering;
  • 6 years work experience in civil works in the Mobile industry;
  • Project Management experience will be an added advantage;
  • Extensive knowledge of internal processes and procedures;
  • Proactive, analytical, confident, energetic and able to work under pressure with a positive attitude and good organization skills.

Senior CN CS Support Engineer

Ref: 
TECHOLOGY-RCPE-FEB-2013
 
Reporting to the Core Network Support Team Manager -Eastern, the role of the job holder will be to provide long term SSS/MSS/STP/Datacom network solution and support, provide second line maintenance support, solve problems in the SSS/MSS/STP/Datacom escalated from first line maintenance and interface with the SSS/MSS/STP/Datacom equipment suppliers to follow up on escalated issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analysis of all Switching and Datacom NE logs and preventive maintenance tasks on MGWs, MSS, STP, OSRs and NE-40/80 to ensure no faults occur as a result of lack of routine maintenance;
  • Clearance of faults escalated to Core Network Support from 1st line maintenance team, NOC, VAS or any other team as per existing work flow;
  • Preparation and implementation of planned configuration changes and software upgrades on various Core Network elements;
  • Interface with Core Network Equipment Suppliers and follow up on any escalation requiring vendor intervention to ensure escalations are resolved within the existing SLA;
  • Participation in projects involving deployment of new network elements in accordance to the existing NE acceptance procedure.
Minimum Requirements
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical & Electronics engineering/Telecommunication or equivalent
  • 3 years’ experience in telecommunication with a minimum of 1 year of 2G/3G hands–on experience in SSS Domain
  • Good understanding of SS7 & SIGTRAN including ISUP/BICC/MAP/CAMEL and SIP Protocols is a Must
  • Practical knowledge on use of basic troubleshooting tools such as Geoprobe, Nelmon, Touchpoint etc
  • Practical knowledge of 2G/UMTS network a must;
  • Candidates with experience in MSOFTX3000, UMG9800, DX200, IPA2800 and NSN ATCA MSS equipment will have an added advantage;
  • Sound analytical & problem solving skills with attention to details when handling faults.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Excellent trouble shooting and problem solving skills;
  • Computer literate, Proactive & self-motivated
  • Must be able to work without supervision & meet tight deadlines/schedules.

Principal Telecom Implementation Engineer

TECHOLOGY-PTIE-MAR-2013
 
Reporting to the Regional Implementation Manager, the holder of the position will be in charge of the delivery of capacity and optimization projects as planned by the Radio Access Engineering and Regional Optimization teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Co-ordinate and manage site surveys to ascertain for capacity/optimization projects implementation;
  • Ensure that proper project scope is captured; and planned KPIs met at least cost and on time;
  • Contractor supervision and management to ensure timely and quality delivery of projects;
  • Co-ordination with Field Operations and contractors to ensure proper comprehensive tests and acceptance is conducted during and after optimization work;
  • Liaison with RAE and Network Engineering to ensure activation of additional capacity and address any quality issues arising;
  • Management and delivery of projects as planned to address customer complaints;
  • Share knowledge and best practice with other engineers both within and in other sections/departments.
Minimum requirements
  • BSC in Electrical/Telecommunication engineering with 6 years’ experience in the Mobile Industry;
  • Strong project management skills;
  • Knowledge of internal processes and procedures;
  • Knowledge of 2G and 3G network topologies is mandatory. Knowledge of and experience related to 4G will be an added advantage;
  • Proactive, analytical, confident, energetic and able to work under pressure with a positive attitude and good organization skills;
  • Team player with ability to inspire and motivate the team to deliver stretched targets.
