Graduate Architect Career in Kenya

Our client is an Architectural firm seeking to hire a Graduate Architect to assist in the provision of Architectural services.

Job Purpose: to work on architectural projects as directed by the Senior Architect including design, contract documentation and some contract administration duties.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work on architectural projects within the firm including client liaison and design.
  • Assist the Manager in the day to day operations of the Firm's designs.
  • Providing various pre-design services
  • Preparing drawings and presenting ideas for the client to review.
  • Take responsibility for time management of assigned jobs. Keep an accurate daily record of the time spent on each assigned job.
  • Preparing and submitting planning applications on behalf of clients.
  • Attend office meetings and provide reports to the Manager on a regular basis regarding the progress of individual projects under their responsibility.
Qualifications:
  • A degree in Architecture from a recognized university
  • At least 1 experience in an busy Architectural Firm
  • Have sound technical knowledge of architectural project delivery.
  • Demonstrable skills in the areas of design, presentation and technical skills
  • Proficiency with Auto CAD
  • Computer literacy using Microsoft Office products and presentation software

Our client is a leading engineering consultancy company  in Nairobi, which has been in existence for a long period of time, and is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their organization.  
This company provides a wide of range services in industries including: institutions, private businesses, large industries, special projects and project management. 
The organization has a wide range of respectable clientele.
Gross Salary: 150K - 200K

Job Purpose

Reporting to the Directors, the Senior Mechanical Engineer will work in liaison with all Department Heads in ensuring that all are performing as planed and that all are aligned to the Corporate Strategy in terms of securing and completing client projects to meet client expectations.

The candidate should have a high potential for growth as s/he will be required to grow in their role to deputise the Managing Directors position. 
This will be as a result of succession planning.

Required Qualifications
  • At least a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Registered with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB) Kenya
  • Corporate member of the Institute of Engineers of Kenya (IEK)
  • Institute of Construction and Project Managers Kenya (ICPMK)

  • At least 5 years in a senior management position in the Building and Services Industry

Primary Responsibilities
  • Ensure suitable projects are progressed as per the Corporate Strategy to improve profits
  • Attend site meetings / inspections as required to ensure project requirements and quality are maintained and achieved
  • Ensure all work is fully compliant in terms of statutory and legal requirements (tax, company law, environment, etc)
  • Develop and grow staff capabilities for internal promotions and company expansion
  • Deliver all contracts for building services are delivered meeting the customers’ expectations, within budgetary and time constraints
  • Ensure that positive PR and marketing of the Engineering firm is maintained
  • Authorise the release of all Board papers prior to the meeting
  • Entertain guests and main potential clients while maintaining a good public image of the organization
  • Review Monthly Management Reports to determine if they are on target according to the forecast budget
  • Present prepared Annual Budget to the Board for approval
  • Determine company Vision Mission and Strategy for the next five years with the senior management team

  • Ensuring filling is done in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Reconciling the bank accounts
  • Double checking all reimbursements request against receipts received.
  • Ensuring purchase order, receiving and invoices are matched.
  • Compiling routine numerical information for report purposes by hand and by running routine recurring reports on internal computer records
  • Performing other general accounting duties as required.
Qualifications, Experience and skills
  • A Diploma /Bachelor’s degree in accounting/Finance options
  • Experience as an Internal Auditor
  • Ability to carry out financial analysis, financial projections and budgeting
  • Ability to analyze problems and provide solutions in line with established
  • Superior knowledge and proficiency in computerized accounting operations
