Vacancy: School Nurse


The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that over 300 students aged between 2 and 18 years are properly cared for when needing medical attention including the following:
 
Providing first aid attention as required to pupils. staff, residents and bona fide visitors.
 
Arranging for appropriate medical attention to be given as necessary after first aid; to arrange for evacuation to hospital where necessary.
 
Responsible for the operation of the sick room and other first aid facilities.
 
Ordering medical requirements for the school and keeping a record of the stock.
 
Being present at school fixtures to deal with any injuries that may arise.
 
Dispensing any prescribed drugs to students under the direction of the family.
 
Maintaining adequate records of patients seen and treatment given.
 
Applicants should:
  • Be a fully qualified nurse.
  • Have prior experience with caring for children, preferably in a school environment.
  • Have excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

Nairobi Club - Head Chef

Nairobi Club is one of the oldest Private Members Club in Kenya established in 1901. 
It has a diverse Membership of over 2000, offering exceptional sporting, social and conference facilities. 
The Club is inviting applications for the following position;

Head Chef 
(One position)
 
The Head chef is in overall charge of both the main kitchen and the swimming pool kitchenette to provide quality food to the members within the prescribed margins.
 
This is a management level position
 
The ideal candidates must possess the below essential selection criteria:
  • Must have a formal professional training in Food production obtaining a Degree or a Diploma from a relevant hospitality training institution.
  • Must have had hands on experience as a Sous Chef in a five star hotel / institution or established private members Club for a period of three years.
  • Must have added Knowledge of HACCP Concepts and be aware of the FTO code of Conduct.
  • Relevant computer skills and use is essential
Competencies:
  • Must possess deep knowledge of menu planning and engineering
  • Understanding and knowledge of proper use and maintenance of Kitchen equipments – fixed and operating.
  • Must have a sensitive palate and deep interest and enthusiasm about food
  • Must possess a sense of Culinary creativity with wide knowledge of local, continental and international cuisine
  • Must be creative and not be afraid to experiment with new menus.
  • Must be aware of the Club and departmental objectives and assist in achieving them
  • Must be a team player, a trainer who is able to identify and nurture talents and new ideas from the F&B Department.
  • Must be cost sensitive
  • Must be comfortable in situations where discussions with Members takes place on their food requirements

Project Manager

The Project Manager will be responsible for managing the “Kenya Flower Industry - Capacity Building for sustained market access: a national mechanism for industry-wide compliance” project implementation over a period of about 18 months.

Competencies

Requirements
  • MSc. in Horticultural Sciences or any other related development management field.
  • At least 5 years of relevant national / international experience including providing management advisory services, hands-on experience in design, monitoring and evaluation of development projects and establishment of inter-relationships among local and or international organization, private sector, civil society and national governments.
  • Experience in handling of web based management systems.
  • Prior experience conducting research and analysis in the area of organizational development and quality management.
  • Prior experience coordinating project work with multiple implementing partners, including monitoring, evaluation and reporting
  • Prior experience with development agencies is an advantage.

Internal Audit Manager
Job Summary
 
The holder of the position will be responsible to the Audit Committee of the Higher Education Loans Board and report to the Board Secretary/CEO on administrative issues. 
The job holder will ensure adherence to policies, legislation, procedures and standards in management including utilization of the Board’s financial and physical resources. 
The job holder will also ensure that proper measures are put in place to mitigate any risk that may arise in the operations of the Board.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Initiate, formulate and implement Internal Audit policies;
  • Identify and critically evaluate elements of governance and risk management in the Board, design appropriate risk management and mitigation strategies for implementation;
  • Carry out internal audits in accordance with generally accepted auditing standards;
  • Develop new continuous improvement initiatives, evaluate the adequacy of internal control systems, report findings and recommend improvements;
  • Review management systems and programs and recommend improvements;
  • Liaise with the Board’s external auditors to update and enhance the Board’s compliance to financial management principles, policies, legislations, regulations and guideline;
  • Prepare timely and accurate audit reports for presentation to the management and to the Audit committee of the Board and ensure implementation of arising recommendations;
  • Ensure the Board’s compliance with statues, regulations and government guidelines;
  • Analyze the impact of Internal Audit policies and regulations.
  • Act as the secretary to the Audit Committee of the Board
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, auditing or accounting option, finance, or any other relevant field of study;
  • Masters degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or any other relevant field of study will be an added advantage;
  • Possession of at least CPA (K)/ACCA;
  • Certified Internal Auditors (CIA) certification or Certified Information System Auditor (CISA);
  • Registered member of the Institute of Internal Auditors;
  • Member of ICPA K of good standing
  • A minimum of eight (8) years’ work experience in Auditing at senior management level in a busy organization.
Key Competencies
  • Knowledge of computerized accounting and auditing record keeping systems;
  • Highly analytical individual with ability to gather, analyze and evaluate facts and to prepare and present concise oral and written reports;
  • An ability to establish and manage viable auditing system;iv Knowledge of principles of good corporate governance

Finance Manager
 
Job Summary
 
The job holder will be responsible to the Head of Finance for the management of the Board’s finances on the financial systems, planning of financial services, monitoring expenditures and enforcing financial compliance.
 
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Providing of advisory services to the Board with regard to financial matters.
  • Ensure prudent financial management at all times
  • Develop and implement financial management policies, standards, systems and procedures at the Board.
  • Coordinating accounting activities for improvement and enforcement of internal controls in the Board;
  • Undertake and advise on prudent financial management of the Board;
  • Initiate and prepare annual budget of the Board and communicate the same to various users within the Board;
  • Prepare and submit periodic reports on financial matters;
  • Ensure the accuracy & completeness the financial statements.
Minimum Requirements
  • A bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance, Economics or any other related field of study;
  • Masters degree in Business Administration, Finance option, Finance or any other related field of study will be an added advantage;
  • Possession of at least CPA, ACCA or CFA and a member of ICPAK of good standing;
  • Knowledge of operation of computerized accounting preferably in ACCPAC accounting package
  • A minimum eight (8) years’ experience in a financial management and accounting environment at a senior level.
  • Experience in Public Sector Finance Management and knowledge of financial management laws and regulations.
