Community Development Facilitator

We therefore seek to recruit dynamic and innovative Community Development Facilitator based at Narok Local Rights Programme (LRP).

Reporting to: LRP Manager

Supervising: none

Externally: CBOs, community groups.

Main Purpose and Scope

Responsible for facilitating the Local Rights Programme (LRP) activities through community based organizations and other partners so that the LRP achieves its set objectives.

Responsibilities
  • To build strong Community Based Organizations to manage the implementation of their identified needs;
  • To facilitate grass root development by mobilising the community in the LRP;
  • To support the Programme Officer to ensure that all child sponsorship requirements are met as per the set guidelines;
  • Prepares community development reports for the Regional Office;
  • To follow up on grants given to communities for accounting; and
  • To facilitate use of participatory PRA tools in the LRP  including the PRRPs
General
  • As part of the Regional team participate in pursuing the implementation of the CSP
  • Prepare and share timely and accurate documentation of lessons learnt to promote best practise.
  • Work towards increased levels of transparency and Accountability.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field with a minimum of three (3) years’ relevant work experience
Skills required

  • Rich experience preferably in programming and financial management
  • Good knowledge of Programme Management and Development.
  • Computer skills

Position: Research Officer
Ref: RO1/LVCT/7/2012
Location: Nairobi
 
The position requires an experienced researcher to lead an operational research project that aims to identify the policy and practice requirements for quality post intimate partner violence (IPV) screening support in HIV programs. 
With technical support from the Principal Investigators, it will be responsible for the design, undertaking, data analysis, management and dissemination of a quality study.
 
Duties and responsibilities
  • Develop and implement the study protocols
  • Develop implementation and dissemination plans and ensure their utilisation
  • Develop the IPV screening and study tools and undertake the study ensuring compliance with requirements for research ethics and scientific quality
  • Ensure integration with and provide input and feedback to other LVCT programmes
  • Collect, analyse and document data in appropriate formats for diverse audiences
Minimum requirements
  • A Master’s degree in Social Science, Gender or a relevant field from a recognised university.
  • At least 3 years’ experience as a lead researcher, a gender focus is an added advantage
  • Experience in analysis of qualitative and quantitative data using the appropriate software
  • Proven research writing ability

Principal OSS, WAS & IT Strategy Engineer

Ref: TECHNOLOGY_POVISE__JULY _2012

Reporting to the Senior Manager – Network Strategy and Architecture - Core, the position holder will be responsible for developing and driving of the OSS/VAS/IT(BSS) Strategy aimed at delivering operational transformation in-line with the migration to Next Generation IP-based Networks and Services. 
It is also expected that the holder will provide deep domain knowledge in defining the Future Method of Operation.

The job holder’s key responsibilities will be to:

Strategy Development
  • Assist in defining long term and short term OSS/VAS/IT Strategy designed at delivering flexible interchangeable interface aimed at bringing long term benefits and helps anticipate future requirements, solutions, technologies and applications;
  • Perform technology evolution study on building a multi-vendor Common Element Management System (CEMS), study best practices shared by VTN strategy team and form inputs for OSS/VAS/IT strategy analysis;
  • Align VAS/OSS/IT strategy with internal business units ensuring the need for service fulfillment, assurance and billing are met;
  • Based on validated VAS/OSS/IT strategy create recommendations and align with internal delivery and operations teams
Architecture Development
  • Preparation of both long term and short term target architecture in the VAS, OSS and IT billing domain areas;
  • Carry out technology evolution study on support of CBS, VAS & OSS for GSM, UMTS, VoLTE, SAE/EPC and IMS, including design requirements.  Analyze end to end architecture to prepare input for OSS target architecture;
  • Align VAS/OSS/IT network architecture with PS/CS, Access and Transport network architecture to achieve an end to end network architecture
  • Based on validated architectures create concept papers, high level design principles and related dependencies;
Licensing and Costing:
  • Assist in preparing strategy on software licensing models, in coordination with supply chain, by providing inputs on VAS/OSS/IT related network components/elements based on trend analysis and long term capacity plans;
  • Analyze features (service, capacity and quality related) and their related costs and assist in conducting business case analysis;
  • Assist in CAPEX reduction initiatives by providing optimized VAS/OSS/IT network architectures, well dimensioned hardware and recommended features;
Project Management:
  • Organize meetings with technology delivery teams as a follow up on OSS/VAS/IT  strategy implementation
  • Organize quarterly strategy control meetings with delivery teams, business units and supply chain 
Business Continuity Planning:
  • Assist in forming business objectives for Business Continuity Planning in OSS/VAS/IT domain areas
  • Assist in translation of BCP business objectives for OSS/VAS/IT networks into technical requirements, implementation guidelines and budget estimates
  • Assist in Scheduling, Monitoring and providing feedback as to completeness of BCP test plans and on executed tests
Supplier Strategy:
  • Build and maintain business relationships with OSS/VAS/IT network vendors and suppliers
  • Study and evaluate  core network product road maps, services, features, costing and licensing by engaging various core network vendors and suppliers through meetings and technology conferences
  • Assist in developing of a network vendor/supplier strategy
Reporting:
  • Prepare Monthly and Quarterly status report of strategy performance KPIs
The ideal candidate should possess the following skills & competencies:
  • 6+ years of working experience in VAS/OSS/IT(BSS) within a telecoms/service provider environment
  • Experience in OSS/BSS software, architecture or implementation on vendors like Cisco, NSN, Huawei, Ericsson
  • Good appreciation of telecom Value Added Services applications/products based on 3GPP and non-3GPP eg WiMAX, Wi-Fi
  • Experience in Rating, Billing and Collection (BSS related functions) an added advantage
  • Possess understanding and knowledge of eTOM/ITLv3 framework and other industry standards/models
  • Proven ability to manage and lead groups of people, not directly reporting to the individual
  • Strong analytical, excellent presentation and planning skills; proficiency in MS Office required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Engineering, Computer Science
