The job function of the Project Manager is to lead the definition, planning, management and delivery of projects in support of the program strategy and goals.

The individual will lead cross-organization teams, effectively planning, communicating, and driving change through the execution of projects in alignment with the overall program strategy.

Essential Job Functions And Responsibilities:
  • Be liaison between clients and employer.
  • Develops project team goals, roles and processes (i.e. communication, problem-solving and decision-making) to effectively execute and implement project requirements.
  • Manages cross-organization team dynamics, alignment, and utilization.
  • Responsible for all aspects of the project lifecycle, driving results within the context of the business strategy.
  • Leads problem solving and decision making to drive project delivery through strong collaboration and influencing skills.
  • Monitors progress on complex, cross-organization projects relative to schedules, budgets, and quality. Identifies risk and resolves issues that impact project completion.
  • Provide leadership and input to project teams through all phases of facilities setup, systems and infrastructure related to project definition and delivery to drive rapid solutions implementation.
  • Communicates plans, status and issues related to project status and execution concisely and broadly across all functions and levels of the organization.
Other:
  • Required to communicate between 2 sites (30% of time)

Qualifications:
  • 3 Year degree and 5+ years related experience in project management capacities, (MANDATORY)
  • 5+ years experience managing large business process (MANDATORY)
  • Must have sound experience in Technology and business projects (MANDATORY)
  • Sound references
  • Proven track record of projects managed
Knowledge And Skills:
  • Must be extremely stress tolerant and able to adapt to change rapidly
  • International experience working on large projects (Will be advantageous although not a must)
  • High sense of urgency with the ability to drive results, demonstrated ability to deliver on commitments
  • Demonstrate results in planning, managing, and implementing large projects within time and budget objectives
  • Solid analytical and problem solving abilities, demonstrates solid judgment and decision making skills

Claims Officer

The duties and responsibilities will include:-
  • Reviewing of documents and pertinent requirements regarding an insurance claim.
  • Ensure that the insurance claim made by the claimant is complete in form and complies with the documentary requirements of an insurance claim.
  • To advice claimants regarding basic matters about their insurance coverage in relation to the insurance claim.
  • Respond to both internal and external claims inquiries concerning benefits, claims process, service providers, and the filing/completion of proper forms.
  • Recording and processing of all claims transactions to ensure they are accurately entered in the system. Opening of hard-copy claim files.
  • Prepare claims registers for claims meetings and update the various claims reports.
  • Prepare initial claim letter and mail to insured, along with appropriate forms for completion. Track and follow up on receipt of necessary forms.
  • Coordinate with the Underwriting department, as necessary.
  • Generally ensuring the highest level of quality customer service in the claims process.
Job Requirements:
  • Minimum of bachelors degree
  • Atleast 3 years work experience in an insurance claims department
  • Excellent knowledge in general insurance business and claims processing
  • CII Diploma Qualification or good progress
  • Competencies/ Personal Attributes:
  • A good understanding of insurance guidelines, policies, principles and practices including market dynamics will be required
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills
  • Team player and a quick learner

Programme Officer - Advocacy & Communication

TI-Kenya is part of the Transparency International group that is a non-partisan coalition of individuals with a shared vision of a corruption free world. 
It is an autonomous Chapter in the Transparency International movement, with which we share knowledge and exchange ideas for the greater good of Kenya and the world at large.

TI-Kenya is seeking to recruit a Programme Officer – Advocacy & Communication.

Summary

The advocacy and communication team provides support to the core programmes of TI Kenya; Governance & Policy and Citizen Demand. 
The Programme Officer will, under the supervision of the Head of Programmes, be responsible for ensuring well informed advocacy and campaign strategies are conducted to support all TI Kenya work. 
The task includes strategic combination of mass communication with community advocacy and media outlets (television, newspapers, video, web sites among others) to shape public opinion and mobilise the necessary resources to create a context for TI-Kenya’s goals and initiatives. 

Duties And Responsibilities


Under the supervision of the Head of Programmes, the Programme Officer shall;

1.    Programme Management ( A&C Initiative and Activities)
  • Design and expand projects, work plans/schedules and ensure their timely, cost effective and successful implementation to achieve overall programme objectives and TI Kenya strategic goals.
  • Ensure timely programme reports; monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
  • Manage the programme budgets; monitor expenditures, identify budgets gaps and proper accounts to donor funds. The task will include timely reports to donors and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Support the identification and recruitment of qualified service providers including procurement of assets/utilities and consultants for tasks specific to the programme. The Programme Officer shall also assist in preparation of the terms of reference, requests for expression of interest and contracts in accordance with TI-Kenya policies and procedures and will facilitate successful delivery of work by such service providers.
  • Provide technical support in the development, review and editing of TI Kenya’s documents and reports, including programme reports, publications, media advisories, press/news releases, op–eds and IEC materials. The task will involve overseeing any discussions and appropriate dissemination of the documents.
  • Oversee the coordination of programme activities including media mobilization, meetings, forums, workshops, trainings and production of reports/minutes thereto.
  • Build capacity of staff and relevant stakeholders on their role in advocating for social change. The task will involve building capacity for participatory approach to advocacy and communication within the organization and communities through trainings or civic education and development of appropriate IEC materials.
2.    Strategic management
  • Provide leadership in the thinking and strategy development on advocacy and quality of communication of TI Kenya vision and mission at national, regional and global level.
  • Define programmes priorities, objectives and communicate to staff and partners for mutual understanding and ownership. The task involves integration of advocacy and communication approaches in all the organizations programmes.
  • Ensure profiling of TI Kenya initiatives by directing development and implementation of the organization’s media relations and policy, communication strategy and visibility campaigns.
3.    Partnerships/ External relationships
  • Develop links, represent TI Kenya and share experiences with relevant stakeholders and use the opportunity to advocate, promote, maintain partnerships and mainstream transparency to achieve TI - Kenya vision and mission.
  • Provide technical support to programme partners in development of strategies on advocacy, campaign initiatives and communication. This involves identifying relevant partners, areas of synergies and collective efforts for desired impact on the fight against corruption in Kenya.
  • Support the maintenance of constructive working relations with media, the government of Kenya, civil society, development partners and coordination with regional/ international TI chapters.
4.    Resource mobilization
  • Develop exceptional proposals and/or concepts for financial support and sustainability of the programme. This includes collaboration with all programme officers and maintaining a well managed proposal tracking matrix.
  • Support research and securing of donors, donor advocacy, attend meetings and assist to respond to correspondences relating to the programme.
5.    Institutional Learning
  • Provide technical support for the development of structured opportunities of institutional learning including project monitoring and evaluation, highlighting success stories and lessons learnt and development of good practices.
6.    Supervision
  • Supervise the work, support and mentor staff under his or her supervision, including Deputy Programme Officers, Programme Assistants and interns.
Qualifications And Experience
  • Degree in Communications/ Journalism/ Public Relations/Information science
  • Minimum work experience of 5 years' with proven skills in;
  1. Advocacy and campaigns.
  2. Originating and preparing technical written material and layouts for diverse media
  3. Editing work of other professionally written communications
  4. Producing and operating media events, conference and related logistical tasks.
  5. Work with unique goals, features and audience of each news output
  6. Project management and administration
  • Work experience with an NGO will be an added advantage.
Competencies
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of governance related policy issues
  • Good understanding of civil society and networks engaged in advocacy; knowledge of international institutions likely to be advocacy targets
  • Excellent communication and written skills in English and Kiswahili.
  • Public relations skills.
  • Good understanding of messaging and public positioning; ability to identify newsworthy issues and stories, media opportunities and outlets
  • Creative response to opportunities in projects with integrated media and advocacy plans and actions
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, can communicate effectively with a broad range of people
  • Capable of leading a team with supervision and training; demonstrated ability to work in partnerships
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines with a high level of creativity and flexibility
