Major Duties and Responsibilities:
 
Under the direct supervision of the Head of Nutrition and overall supervision of the Head Programme, the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties:
 
Assist the Head of Nutrition in programme planning and design:
  • Review proposals to ensure technical compliance with WFP/nutrition cluster guidelines and policies;
  • Assist with analysing gaps in programme coverage, identify potential partners and liaise with them to increase coverage and minimize overlap;
  • Stay up to date with other agencies interventions in nutrition or related fields to ensure sound integration of WFP supported projects; Participate in field assessment missions
  • Participate in the design and implementation of operational research activities.
Advise technically AoRs, partners, and other units in the country office on nutrition programme implementation:
  • Review monthly distribution plan in a timely manner;
  • Review weekly and monthly reports and provide feedback on options to tackle key issues;
  • Assist in the process of preparing agreements, addendums, and other documents related to nutrition;
  • Liaise with partners and sub-offices to resolve issues and clarify or obtain additional information;
  • Undertake to ensure implementation procedures adhere to WFP guidelines.
Participate in the capacity building of WFP staff and partners to implement nutrition interventions:
  • Assist in creating and maintaining a training work plan for WFP staff and partners in nutrition;
  • Prepare and update of training material, guidelines, information-communication-education (IEC) material, and implementation tools;
  • Organize and assist in facilitating trainings and workshops in the field as well as in Nairobi in collaboration with other units and SO staff.
Assist the Head of Nutrition in representation and coordination work:
  • Represent WFP at nutrition or food aid cluster meetings and other stakeholders/partners meetings when required
  • Participate in the production of reports, documents and communication papers
  • Maintain close working relationship with other stakeholders in the nutrition sector.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
 
Education: University degree and/or equivalent experience with emphasis in one or more of the following disciplines: human nutrition, public health or a field relevant to international development assistance.
 
Experience: At least one year of postgraduate professional experience in health or nutrition programming in emergencies with progressive experience.
 
Knowledge: Training and/or experience utilizing computers, including word processing, spreadsheet and at least one other standard statistical software package for nutrition surveys (ENA, Anthro, Epilnfo).General knowledge of UN system policies, rules, regulations and procedures governing administration.
 
Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in English.
 
Desirable skills: Knowledge of Somali language and of general statistical packages (STATA, SPSS, SAS, etc.) will be added advantage.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
 
Under the direct supervision of the Senior Compliance Officer, the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties:
  • Assist the Senior Compliance Officer in identifying risk areas, creating a viable control environment and supporting the enhancement of internal controls;
  • Identify areas where corporate regulations and procedures are inefficient or ineffective within the context of Country Office operational environment;
  • Follow up on submission of compliance reports from the concerned and compile Country Office weekly/monthly compliance reports
  • Assist the Senior Compliance Officer in reviewing existing Standard Operating Procedures(SOPs) and to propose amendments to reflect the current operational environment;
  • Maintain an updated database of Standard Operating Procedures;
  • Liaise with units concerned on responding to audit queries and follow up with the respective units on  implementation of audit recommendations;
  • Travel extensively to the field; visit area offices, warehouses and where possible Food Distribution Points (FDP’s) to monitor compliance to WFP rules/regulations, policies/procedures by all concerned. Guide staff on proper application of WFP policies/procedures thus ensuring compliance;
  • Prepare mission reports on the field visits with details of findings and actions taken;
  • Participate in developing/organising training programmes for staff to ensure compliance with WFP policies, rules/regulations and procedures by all concerned;
  • Perform any other operational duties as required.
Minimal Qualifications:
 
Education: University degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Audit/Accounting
 
Experience: At least 3 years of progressively responsible experience in audit, investigation, business administration, or related field. Hands-on experience in UN or NGO audit/financial environment and intermediate knowledge of working in SAP environment is desirable.
 
Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in English language.
 
Knowledge: Experience utilizing computers, including word processing, spreadsheet and other standard WFP software packages.

The Higher Education Loans Board invites applications for TIVET bursaries from eligible students in Technical, Industrial, Vocational and Entrepreneurship Training (TIVET) tertiary institutions for the 2011/2012 season. 
TIVET institutions include Public National Polytechnics, Institutes of Technology and Technical Training institutes country-wide.
 
How to Apply:
 
1. Applicants should access and fill the 2011/2012 TIVET Bursary Application Form from the HELB website www.helb.co.ke
 
2. Print TWO copies of the TIVET Bursary Application Form.
 
3. Sign the form and attach all the necessary documents, as indicated on the checklist on the last page of the Form.
 
4. Have the form properly filled, signed and stamped by the relevant authorities.
 
5. Present the two copies of the TIVET Bursary Application Form to your Institutional Bursaries Allocation Committee for verification and certification of your application details.
 
6. Leave one copy of the TIVET Bursary Application Form and all the attached support documents with the Institutional Bursaries Allocation Committee for free delivery to HELB.
 
7. Retain one copy of the duly filled TIVET Bursary Application Form
