Chemonics International seeks three value chain technical directors for the Kenya Agricultural Value Chain Enterprises Project, a five-year, $35-$40 million anticipated USAID-funded project under the U.S. Government’s Feed the Future (FtF) Initiative in Kenya. 
This project will assist the Government of Kenya in improving the competitiveness of selected agricultural value chains with the overall goal of increasing the productivity and incomes of smallholder farmers and other actors along the value chain, thereby enhancing food security and improving nutrition. 
Responsibilities will include developing and implementing an innovative agricultural growth value chain development program – from production and post harvest to processing and marketing – and working with all related technical teams. 
Technical directors will also liaise with local stakeholders including government technical officials, local and regional agribusiness firms, producer organizations, and agriculture-related private sector actors and service providers.

Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree or equivalent experience in agricultural economics, marketing, post-harvest handling, agribusiness management or a related field
  • Minimum 10 years of international experience with successful value chain projects in the agricultural sector of value chain development, including value chain facilitation, agribusiness, marketing and financial services, or  private sector development.
  • Demonstrated success in implementing projects aimed at increasing the competitiveness and inclusiveness of value chains using facilitation approaches.
  • Established relationships with and/or substantive knowledge of international agribusiness firms preferred.
  • Familiarity with information and communication technology applications for agriculture value chain development desired.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • East African experience is preferred but not required.
  • Fluency in English, Kiswahili desired.

Project Manager

 The mission of Care of Creation Kenya is to pursue a God-centered response to the environmental crisis in Africa which brings glory to the Creator, advances the cause of Christ, and leads to a transformation of the people and the land that sustains them.  
To accomplish this mission, Care of Creation Kenya (CCK) is seeking to employ a qualified individual for the following position:

Job Title :
Project Manager for Biblically-based Community Development
Location  : Kijabe (Care of Creation Kenya office at Moffat Bible College)
Reports To : The Executive Director

General Summary:   

This person will promote a God-centered approach to environmental stewardship and provide competent oversight for community development and educational initiatives undertaken by Care of Creation Kenya (CCK).  
Primary responsibilities will involve planning, the coordination of CCK staff and demonstrations, and the administration of training activities for Churches, schools, farmers and community groups in the areas of forestry and Farming God’s Way. 

Required Qualifications
  • Mature Christian with a heart for ministering to local communities
  • Excellent teaching skills / Demonstrated experience in teaching from Scripture
  • Excellent management, planning and administrative skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Kiswahili
  • Strong computer proficiency (including Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, etc.)
  • Demonstrated background in Christian ministry and outreach
  • Demonstrated ability to appropriately supervise others and work as a team
  • Background or work experience in agriculture, forestry, conservation, or environmental education
  • Minimum educational requirement:  Bachelor’s degree in community development from a reputable institution or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to relocate and live within reasonable distance from Kijabe.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Grant-writing and fund-raising experience a plus.
  • Current Driver’s license (qualified for operating a motorcycle a plus).
Key Responsibilities and Duties:  
Manage and coordinate the community development and educational initiatives of the organization in a way that reinforces a God-centered vision of caring for creation.

Training / Mobilization / Community Development
  • Plan, organize and conduct training seminars in cooperation with the Executive Director.
  • Mobilize groups / communities / CCK partners to take action on environmental matters.
  • Provide biblically-based and scientifically sound teaching to various audiences.
  • Conduct monitoring and evaluation with partners and community groups.
Management / Administration / Communication
  • Provide spiritual leadership for the organization
  • Provide management and oversight for CCK staff members
  • Maintain project records & databases / Produce reports / Assist with grant-writing
  • Facilitate the proper functioning and management of CCK’s demonstration site
  • Facilitate the efficiency of verbal and email communication for the organization
  • Manage and oversee outreach activities related to forestry and Farming God’s Way

Background Information

Support and Assistance To Indigenous Implementing Agencies (SAIDIA), is a US President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) funding initiative composed of two member organizations, both working hand-in-hand with the GOK and in close collaboration with sixteen indigenous organizations that were selected as implementing sub-grant partners.  
The program implements eleven service areas namely Palliative Care, Basic Care and Support, OVC, Health Systems Strengthening, Abstinence and being faithful and Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission of HIV/AIDS,  ART Services, TB/HIV, and Testing and Counseling.

The overall program strategy is to develop and reinforce capacities among the sixteen indigenous sub-grant partners in improving HIV prevention, treatment, and care and support services to marginalized people in the four provinces of Kenya namely Central, Eastern, Nairobi and Rift valley. 
Beyond providing anti-retroviral therapy, the program is strengthening in-country technical expertise, building capacity of indigenous umbrella organizations to support ART, developing locally appropriate models of care, and applying evidence-based practices to improve care and treatment as well as maintaining a clear and precise data.

Purpose
  • Reporting to the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, and working closely with the Health team, the Data Clerk will maintain up-to-date KePMS database. 
  • S/he will receive, review and enter data from partner staff into SAIDIA database monthly and share with program team for review.
Responsibilities   
  • Receive project data from CRS and partner staff
  • Review and validate data sent from the field and support project and partner staff in preparing data for entry to the system.
  • Enter data from partners into KePMS in line with CDC guidelines and according to data calendar
  • Analyse KePMS data and share with project team during project meetings
Expertise Required
  • At least grade C Plain in KCSE
  • A Diploma in Information Technology, Health Records or other relevant field
  • Computer proficiency in databases and spreadsheets
  • At least 1 year experience using KePMS
  • Proficiency in data analysis software such as SPSS, Epi Info will be an added advantage.
  • At least 1 year health data entry experience and familiarity with Ministry of Health HMIS
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Working knowledge of CDC and PEPFAR data requirements

Senior Finance Officer

Reporting to: Finance & Administration Manager
Duration: 1 year (with possible extension)
Location: Nairobi with occasional travel to South Sudan and Somaliland

Key tasks & responsibilities
  • Ensure that financial systems and procedures are in place and followed in accordance with internal policies;
  • Ensure the transactions are properly recorded and entered into the computerised accounting system;
  • Establish, maintain and reconcile the general ledger;
  • Ascertain the accuracy of the books of accounts in accordance with accepted accounting principles and donor requirements;

  • At least 5 years work experience in a non-governmental, not-for-profit organisation;
  • Ability to work under pressure, independently with limited supervision;
  • Good oral and written communication skills;
  • High levels of integrity, patience, cross-cultural adaptability and sensitivity; and
  • Proficiency in computer for using MS-Office
