Description:     Purpose of the position:

The purpose of this position is to lead the implementation of the AusAID funded  East Africa Maternal Newborn Child Health (EAMNeCH) project by providing coordination, technical and capacity building support to the 4 countries in East Africa: Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda.  

This project is funded under the Australia Africa Community Engagement Scheme (AACES) This position reports to the EARO Director for Health and HIV&AIDS and will work closely with the WVA AACES Coordinator.

Qualifications:  Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience

The following may be acquired through a combination of formal or self-education, prior experience or on-the-job training:

• BSC Degree and qualification in Public Health or social development fields.
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of maternal health and nutrition program in developing country context.
• Experience in multi country project management and coordination
• Experience of working in an advisory capacity at regional or national level.
• Up to date knowledge of maternal & child health and nutrition issues.
• Knowledge of maternal and child health and nutrition assessment, planning, monitoring and evaluation.
• Substantial experience in capacity building program, and in developing training materials regarding maternal & child health and nutrition for information, education and communication purposes.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills and willingness and ability to work as part of a team.
• Ability to plan and implement own work with limited support.
• A readiness to work with people with widely differing cultures, beliefs and personal circumstances.
• Strategic and analytical thinking skills.
• Good IT skills to operate independently.

Position: Area Representative- Puntland

Save the Children (SC) is an international organization with 27 member organizations across the globe. It is united by a common mission and brand but, to some extent, has until now been working independently from country to country and within countries. 

With the decision by all Save the Children organizations to create an International Programmes Unit (IPU) taken in 2010, Save the Children aims to create a stronger voice for children by unifying the operations in all countries. 

This will result in one organisation at the national level in each country and a unified programme delivery structure for all Save the Children International Members.
 

Save the Children works in the three “zones” of Somalia: Somaliland, Puntland and Central South Somalia (CSS). Due to constraints on security, and the need to liaise with UN agencies, other NGOs and donors, the country office is based in Nairobi. Directors and senior managers are expected to travel extensively to monitor and support programme work in all parts of Somalia that are accessible and where security threats are being effectively mitigated.
 

Save the Children has been engaged in Puntland since the Tsunami in 2004. The programme has substantially grown since and intends to continue long-term. During the drought crisis of 2011, the programme in Puntland expanded significantly to add to our ongoing work reach out to children across 3 regions of Puntland with offices in Garowe, Bosasso and Gardo.
 

Job Purpose 

The Area Representative has overall responsibility for development, management and delivery of quality programmes in Puntland. 

S/he will work through Field Managers based in Garowe and Bosasso to ensure all aspects of programming are coordinated resulting in efficiency, high team moral and cost effectiveness. 

S/he will ensure programmes implement key humanitarian principles and that we work in close collaboration with other key stakeholders and the government to promote and advocate for children’s rights. 

The Security environment in Puntland is fragile and requires the post-holder to liaise closely with staff and advice senior management on robust security management guidelines and plans for Puntland.

 The Project Manager (Strategic Marketing) will identify market opportunities in agriculture and lead the hands-on process of transitioning them into proposed projects. 

He / she will then introduce solutions in all applicable markets when these projects become approved.

He/she will continuously coordinate with Platform Sales, Tactical Marketing & Enterprise Market research to ensure the successful completion of the project / process converting identified market opportunities in to marketable products or solutions. 

The position will take up the responsibility for the Region 1 Corn Value Chain to study, develop and guide activities towards total solution roll-out in Sub-Saharan Africa, China, India and South-East Asia.

Requirements for the position are:-
