Internal Audit Manager

Initially overseeing one country’s group internal audit function across diverse business sectors, your performance should gradually grow you into the regional scope envisaged for this function. 
Accountable to the Board, you will provide day to day support to the Group Managing Director and the individual operating companies. 
Your value added will be a highly professional, independent and supportive quality assurance ¡n planning, implementation and reporting on all Internal Audit strategic and operational activities, in compliance with Group corporate governance and international auditing guidelines. 
The primary criteria for your success will be the ability to proactively ensure effective Group level implementation of its Internal Audit strategy to meet Board and external regulatory requirements.

Your primary duties will be as follows.
Strategic Oversight of Group Internal Audit:
  • Oversee the planning, implementation and quality assurance of all aspects of the group’s Internal Audit strategy through individual companies’ internal auditors
  • Plan, develop and implement Annual Audit programmes
  • Identify and oversee the quick execution of special audits to address root causes
  • Conduct special investigations for Management or the Board
  • Continuously ensure the reliability/integrity of operational and fnancial information
  • Maintain proactive dialogue with the Managements of operating companies to ensure timely and effective action on agreed audit recommendations.
Support to Business Operations:
  • Develop risk assessments for critical business processes
  • Undertake systems audits for the group of companies
  • Review business continuity capabilities across the group’s businesses.
  • Systems’ Continuous Improvement:
  • Identify key internal controls and recommend improvements at group and operating company levels
  • Monitor progress on the implementation of agreed system improvements
  • Assess operating processes with recommendations to raise their effectiveness and efficiency
  • Update with approvals, revisions to the Group Internal Audit policy as necessary.
Team Leadership:
  • Lead, supervise and inspire with practical guidance a highly effective Group internal audit team
  • and dispersed operating companies’ internal audit units.
  • This position requires a highly driven, self-supervising, efficient and intensely detailed person
  • with excellent collaborative and persuasive skills. It has considerable growth potential for a high performer. 
To be considered you must demonstrate a clear track record of such competence in
addition to the following:
  • a CPA (K) qualification or equivalent
  • a Bachelor’s degree in commerce, accounting or other relevant discipline
  • at least 10 years’ progressive work experience, with 5 years in audit roles excellent skills in both manual and computerised accounting detailed process thoroughness and proactive technical rigour
  • credible evidence of systems improvement project leadership experience excellent people skills with self leadership and professional independence.

IRC - Research and Learning Coordinator, and Program Manager Jobs in Nairobi, Kenya

IRC Kenya is currently preparing a proposal in response to a USAID-funded request for applications to increase the entry and growth of women-owned and women managed small and medium enterprises (SME’s) and generate learning in the field regarding what works and why under the Women’s Leadership in Small and Medium Enterprises (WLSME) pilot research program. 
Applications are invited for the following positions;

1. Research and Learning Coordinator
  • Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) is a rapidly growing, global organization with operations in over 40 countries.
  • IPA designs innovative, cutting-edge approaches to solving development problems, rigorously evaluates these programs, and promotes the adoption of those with proven impact.
  • IRC and IPA are recruiting a Research and Learning Coordinator, who will assist with all aspects of the
  • implementation of the evaluation of IRC’s WLSME program. 
  • The Research and Learning Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the implementation of all aspects of the evaluation, including sample frame construction, design and testing of survey instruments, management of the data collection teams, data quality assurance, and preliminary data analysis
Minimum requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in social sciences, such as international development, economics, sociology, political science, statistics, or public policy;
  • Experience with quantitative and qualitative research and evaluation preferred;
  • Two or more years of experience working in research, monitoring, and/or knowledge management in developing countries;
  • Demonstrated skills and experience working and collaborating with international and local non-profit organizations;
  • Ability and interest to work with a diverse and multicultural team in a collaborative, respectful and culturally-appropriate manner;
  • Solid understanding of the Kenyan context (previous experience in Kenya preferred);
2. Program Manager
The Program Manager is responsible for ensuring that the Women’s Leadership in Small and Medium Enterprises (WLSME) project is implemented in accordance with the cooperative agreement, USAID regulations, and internationally recognized quality of assistance standards. 
He/she will be responsible for ensuring project activities, targets and outcomes are all running according to plan, liaising between the research partner and other local partners supporting project implementation.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Masters in Social Sciences, social work, international relations, economics, finance, business, or other related area required
  • At least 5 years experience in designing, implementing and managing related development programs, preferably in a Economic Recovery and Development context
  • At least 3 years of experience working on gender related issues
  • Previous experience as Program Manager of USAID-funded programs preferred
  • Previous experience supervising and managing a multi-disciplinary team including strong research component
  • Experience working in East Africa, a solid understanding of the Kenyan context; previous experience in Kenya preferred

Cooperative Manager
