Accountant Vacancy

Lifecare International Insurance Brokers is a brokerage specialising in medical insurance with offices in Nairobi, Mombasa and Kisumu and is looking for an accountant to carry out accounting duties which are related to the efficient organizing and processing of financial records handling large numbers of invoices, data entry, book keeping as well as credit collection

Duties and Accountabilities
  • Prepare breakdown of accounts
  • Prepare daily ledgers
  • Reconciling the cash book balance with the bank balance
  • Debtor’s reconciliation.
  • Prepare balance sheets on a monthly basis
  • Prepare monthly reports and draw graphs showing profit and loss
  • Creation of fixed asset schedules for period-end
  • Seek resolution and answering of ad hoc queries
  • Forecasting of fixed assets depreciation
  • Reconciliation of balance sheet accounts
  • Understand and perform the Senior Accountant Lead role occasionally, in the absence of the lead
  • Ensure both contractual and operational KPIs are met (responsibility of delivering the service within agreed deadlines and at the required quality)
  • Responsible for other activities assigned by the Senior accountant
  • Actively seeks opportunities for Continuous Improvement initiatives in cooperation with Senior account.
  • Develops good client relationships and good relations with the colleagues
  • Escalates issues or risks to team lead, as appropriate
  • Complies with all client published policies and procedures and any legal and regulatory requirements that the company is obliged to adhere to.
  • Have strong skills in enforcing credit management systems and practices in the organization;
  • Providing aged debtor reports and ensuring management are kept abreast of any defaults beyond stipulated timelines;
  • Liaise with clients in collection of outstanding amounts
  • Carry out reconciliations of debtors and institute actions against bad debts;
  • Provision of information to debtors and ensure that client's statements and demand letters are sent out at the end of each month.

Educational Experience
  • CPA /ACCA Part III or higher or its equivalent
  • 2 years relevant experience in similar position
  • Accounting, Finance or Business related degree
  • Computer Literate – Microsoft office is Essential
  • Knowledge of Quickbooks software package is an added advantage
  • Written and spoken ability to communicate in English
Essential Work Experience
  • Must have experience in an General Accounting environment
  • Must have Operations Experience
  • Must have experience in Client Management and interaction
  • Responsibility and accuracy in the completion of received tasks
  • Insurance industry experience a plus

  • Giving feedback to the management and advising accordingly.

Key Skills and Abilities
  • Diploma in sales & marketing
  • Those with a background in food & beverage will have an added advantage
  • 2-3 years experience in sales preferably in the hospitality industry
  • Ability to work and contribute in a team
  • Proven ability to meet sales targets

1. Branch Supervisor
 
We are looking to fill the role of a Branch Supervisor who will report to the Branch Manager.
 
Overall Responsibility
 
To assess risks in accordance with laid down underwriting procedures in the company and to ensure
effective and efficient service delivery to customers
 
Key Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities
  • Review all applications for insurance –determine the profiles of risks presented to the company for insurance and assess their acceptability or otherwise
  • Review all reports from various service providers relating to applicants for insurance
  • Processing of renewal notices and renewal follow ups
  • Ensure all related activities to underwriting are properly coordinated and enforced
  • Ensure timely preparation and despatch of policy documents
  • Review of suspense items and follow up on outstanding requirements with a view to reconciling them in record time

We are looking to fill the role of a Reinsurance Executive who will report to the Senior Reinsurance Executive.
 
Overall Responsibility of the Job
 
This position acts as a support unit for the underwriting department, as well as ensuring that the company is well protected through adequate reinsurance programs.
 
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Timely processing of statutory returns
  • Processing and negotiating treaty renewals
  • Placement of facultative business. Both inward and outward
  • Preparing reinsurance reports for management
  • Processing of recoveries from reinsurers
  • Ensuring that the company’s reinsurance programs are adequate and cost effective
  • Processing credit notes and policy cancellations and other relevant endorsements from the branches
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business from recognized university
  • 5 papers in ACII or equivalent
  • 4 years relevant experience
3. Receptionist
 
We are looking to fill the role of a Receptionist who will report to the Senior Administration Executive.
 
Overall Responsibility of the Job
 
Responsible for receiving guests, making them feel welcome, and dealing professionally with enquiries, face to face and by phone.
 
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Attending to clients as they enter the office and notifying the appropriate staff member of the client(s) arrival
  • Directing visitors to the specific office or letting the guest know that the employee is absent
  • Answering phones, taking messages, transferring information and providing basic answers to queries about the services the organization offers
  • Receiving incoming mail, recording, stamping, distributing and dispatching where necessary
  • Maintaining the reception area cleanliness and tidiness
  • Maintaining the staff attendance register
  • Management of letters/cheques /parcels that are dropped at the reception
  • Keeping record of the usage and topping up of the office mobile
  • General Administrative support
  • Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time
Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum Diploma in either Secretarial duties/front office management
  • Minimum KCSE Average C+ with a good grade in English
  • Proficiency in the use of MS-Office Suite of Packages
  • At least one year relevant work experience
