 A medium sized firm in Nairobi is looking to hire an Office Administrator

The job of the Office Administrator  will be to support the directors office.

The gross pay applicable is a range of K'sh 25-35K plus in and outpatient medical cover per year depending on experience and education qualifications.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Minimum Qualification: Diploma in Office Administration/ Secretarial studies
  • The candidate will be aged between 30-38 years
Roles and Responsibilities

Good at generating presentations reports in various computer languages from basic excel graphs to basic office cash book keeping.

At least 5 years demons ratable senior admin experience and in inclination towards project management.

Independent thinker , they will have helped set up or run a new office or relocate an  odd office.

They will be responsible for the dairy of the general manager.

They will be required to co-ordinate his travel and appointments as well respond his emails and telephone enquiries in a timely fashion.

Will be required to report to work at 7.30am and work until 4.30pm.

They will be required to be good in written English and Kiswahili.

Reporting to the Director, Market Operations the Corporate Approvals Manager is responsible for providing the technical and strategic leadership in the coordination of the timely review of license applications; information memoranda and other documentation for the listing of issues and offers through the securities exchange as well as approval of equity and debt instruments in line with capital market requirements. Coordinating the review of registration of “approved institutions”.

Major Duties and Responsibilities
  • Participate in the formulation and development of the Authority’s strategic plan including monitoring and evaluating the implementation of work plans related to the licensing of market intermediaries; approval of issues and listing and registration of approved institutions;
  • Oversee the development of annual work-plans and budgets for implementing offers, listings; licensing of market institutions and intermediaries; approvals and registration of approved institutions;
  • Oversee the coordination of the review of applications for licensing market institutions and intermediaries;
  • Supervise the coordination of the review of the information memoranda and other documentation to ensure that the information to applications for listing of new issues at the security exchange and acquisitions of publicly listed companies is accurate and complete and provides full disclosure of material facts;
  • Participate in the review of applications from publicly listed companies to offer additional  securities to the public in line with capital market requirements;
  • Coordinate the review of applications from publicly listed companies involved in restructurings, takeovers, acquisitions and mergers in line with the capital markets requirements;

  • Oversee the registration of Collective Investment Schemes in line with the requirements of the Capital Markets Act and Regulations issued thereunder;
  • Oversee the review of notices, announcement and advertisements by market intermediaries and listed companies and make recommendations of the suitability for publication;
  • Liaise with Government Agencies, the Nairobi Securities Exchange, Central Depository & Settlement Corporation, legal firms and other key stakeholders regarding issues, listings and licensing applications;
  • Plan, monitor and evaluate the performance of staff against set targets and objectives and implementing development action plans aimed at building the capacity of individuals and multi –disciplinary teams.
 Academic Qualifications:
  • Masters in Law or Masters in Business Administration;
  • Bachelor of Laws, LLB
  • Post graduate Diploma in law from Kenya School of Law
Professional Qualifications and Experience
  • At least five (5) years post admission experience in legal affairs;
  • Admission as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya;

  • Experience in the practice of corporate commercial law and transaction advisory;
  • A strong understanding of the Kenyan legislative system;

2. Assistant Manager Financial Analysis

Reporting to the Corporate Approvals Manager, the Assistant Manager Financial Analysis is responsible for planning, developing, coordinating, implementing and evaluating financial projects involving analysis and interpretation of financial statements of listed companies and market intermediaries aimed at securing compliance with capital markets rules and regulations in order to safeguard and protect investor interests.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and implement regular and ad-hoc analysis of periodical financial statements of market intermediaries and listed companies to secure continued compliance with capital markets rules and regulations;
  • Review applications for registration and licensing of market intermediaries and also conduct inspections and provide recommendations for the registration and licensing of companies to operate in the country’s securities market;
  • Review prospectuses for potential or actual material accounting or financial reporting deficiencies to ensure that investors are provided with balanced information on which to base investment decisions;
  • Coordinate the analysis of financial statements submitted in support of applications by issuers;
  • Coordinate the analysis of investment programs, such as price, yield, stability and investment risks;
  • Coordinate evaluation and comparative analysis of various securities in a given industry;
  • Develop and implement guidelines regarding the standards and quality of financial reporting;

Responsible to the Manager, Strategy, Policy &Regulatory Framework the Assistant Manager, Legal Framework is responsible for conducting reviews to assess impediments to capital markets development arising from inadequacies in the current laws and regulations, institutional arrangements and drafting legislations and regulations to bridge the identified gaps.

Major Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Continually conducting diagnostic studies and reviews to assess impediments to capital markets development arising from inadequacies in the current laws and regulations, institutional arrangements, supporting infrastructure and technical capacity
  • Preparing plans for improving the legal and regulatory framework, institutional arrangements, infrastructure and capacity over the short, medium, and long term, identifying impediments to full implementation of IOSCO Principles and presenting relevant legislation while adopting international best-practice standards from other jurisdictions.
  • Facilitating discussions with Capital markets stakeholders and agreement on new initiatives to address policy, legal, regulatory, supervisory, institutional and capacity constraints to the development of the capital market in Kenya.

Reporting to the Assistant Manager, Investigations, the Senior Investigations Officer is responsible for investigating non-compliance with the Capital Markets regulatory framework and complaints raised by investors, market players or any other stake holder against licensed market intermediaries and listed companies.

Major Duties and Responsibilities
  • Investigating non-compliance with the capital markets regulatory framework;

The job holder will also provide legal advice to directorates in their day to day business operations.

Major Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepare drafts and negotiate contracts and other legal documents between the Authority and other parties;

We are looking for an experienced, strong team-player with training in agricultural sciences, a developed ability to manage horticultural trials, and superior research skills to manage the work in horticultural innovations for One Acre Fund’s Kenya program.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Develop and test appropriate planting techniques for One Acre Fund crops.  Current crops include maize, sukuma, tree crops, and common beans, but the list could expand.
  • Design proper packaging and storage of agro-materials (seed, fertilizer, chemicals)
  • Design and manage nursery trials and staff.  Nursery trials are for new crops, products, and varieties.  These trials will often be linked closely with field and farmer-based trials. 
  • Investigate and develop management regimes for common pests and diseases.
  • Contribute to the improvement of soil nutrition management regimes.
  • Carry out field visits to farmer fields and groups for trainings, field trials, quality assurance, and troubleshooting and provide recommendations on seed issues, pest and disease treatments, agro-chemicals, soil treatment, etc.
  • Build relationships with agricultural research specialists and institutions
  • Research new techniques and inputs for agricultural related activities
  • Liaise between research and development staff, nursery staff, and field staff
  • Perform other related responsibilities, as required
Job will be based in Bungoma, Kenya and will require 20-40% travel
