 Our client, a four star hotel based in Nairobi is looking for a highly qualified General Manager to manage and oversee the day to day operations of the hotel in its entirety.
 
Roles and Key Responsibilities:
 
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Primary role function will be to manage and maximize the hotel’s resources achieving optimum standards of service within profit objectives and in line with Company policies.
 
Duties and other Responsibilities:
  • To provide overall leadership, guidance and direction to the hotel management teams to ensure smooth, prompt and efficient operations.
  • Monitor the performance of the hotel through verification and analysis of customer satisfaction systems and financial reports and initiate corrective action.
  • Ensure efficient operations and cost control of all hotel Departments and facilities.
  • Review daily operations and inspection reports and coordinate corrective actions required between departments.
  • Prepare financial reports for management that clearly identify operational effectiveness, trends and variances.
  • Participate in sales and marketing strategy meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulations.
  • Align strategic plans for the future development of the hotel.
Required Qualifications:
  • University Degree in Hospitality
  • A minimum of three years working in an international hotel and total five years experience in a similar role.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to effectively lead a team of professionals

Job Summary

This position will be responsible for APHIAplus Rift Valley field office program data collection and management activities. 

The officer will assist in coordination of monitoring and evaluation activities of the APHIAplus Rift Valley districts level, focusing specifically on capacity building of partners on systems for collecting data for measuring project implementation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Management of project data bases in the field office.
  • Assist in coordination of monitoring and evaluation activities of the APHIAplus Rift Valley at district level, focusing specifically on capacity building of partners on systems for collecting data for measuring project implementation.
  • Under the Associate Director, M&E’s guidance, offer technical assistance to implementing partners to develop and implement monitoring and evaluation plans.
  • Provide logistical support to ensure constant availability and technical support to ensure use of approved standardized tools by facilities and implementing partners in accordance with guidelines stipulated by USAID and GOK.
  • Ensure implementing partners understand the project indicators, have a functional system for collecting, analysis and synthesis of monitoring data.
  • Offer technical support on reporting tools, data management processes, analysis and interpretation of indicators to implementing partners to meet program requirements.
  • Train facilities and implementing partners on reporting requirements, indicator definitions and use of data tools.
  • Plan and facilitate capacity building and training of implementing partners in monitoring and evaluation through formal and informal adult learning methods.
  • Coordinate collection of APHIAplus Rift Valley program activities data to ensure it is complete and timely.
  • Coordinate routine data quality assessments within respective regions.
  • Provide support to implementing partners in compiling monthly reports and basic data analysis.
Minimum Requirements:
  • MS/MA/MPH in relevant field with 3-5 years relevant experience or BS/BA in relevant field with at least 5-7 years experience in Monitoring and Evaluation. 
  • Computer proficiency in word processing, databases, spreadsheets, including advanced skills in at least two of the following programs: SPSS, Excel, Stata, MS Access and experience in setting up data bases. 
  • Demonstrated experience with Health Management Information Systems and ability to transfer knowledge through informal and formal training.

Responsibilities

Administrative
  • Provide logistic support including schedule meetings, file documents, answer email, take phone inquiries, schedule travel arrangements; take minutes for meetings; draft correspondence; organize conference calls, process monthly credit card reconciliations, expense reports and reimbursement requests; handle external communication; track office budgets and assist in the compliance of all procedures and policies
Programmatic
  • Provide key support in the review and finalization of grants, including reviewing proposals, preparing dockets, monitoring grantee activity; ensuring adequate reporting by grantees and responding to unsolicited funding requests
  • Help organize and implement the annual OSIEA calendar schedule, work plans and budget forms. Assist in the organizing of the agenda and logistics for four annual staff retreats
Board Liaison
  • Serve as staff liaison to the OSIEA Regional Board ensuring that all queries and requests are dealt with promptly. Support the board recruitment and orientation process and board learning/development
  • Organize board book, agenda and logistics for three board meetings annually; take minutes at board meetings and follow up.
  • Organize and maintain all board documents and the electronic files as well as the board intranet page
Qualifications
  • At least five years of relevant experience with the ability to work in a complex institution
  • Minimum first degree in relevant field
  • Excellent knowledge of computer programs including outlook, excel and power point
  • Extraordinary initiative, creativity and capacity to think strategically
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a diverse array of people
  • Ability to manage conflict constructively
