Production Manager & Training Officer - Dudutech
 
Dudutech, a division of Finlays Horticulture, is a market leader in Integrated Pest Management (IPM), producing, supplying and offering training and technical support for an extensive range of its own biological control agents to the Agricultural Sector. 

Global opportunities and growth of sustainable and environmentally sound agricultural practices have in turn presented both local and international opportunities for the company. 

As a result we are looking for exceptionally qualified candidates to fill the positions of Production Manager – Entomophatogenic Nematodes (EPNs) and Training Officer. 

Both positions are located at the Dudutech operations based in our Naivasha Region.

Production Manager - EPNS
 
The successful candidate will manage the production of Entomopathogenic Nematodes and will be responsible for:
  • ensuring that all production batches are in line with quality control and assurance standards;
  • maintenance of stock cultures to ensure persistent virulence;
  • delivering to agreed budgets and targets;
  • maintaining processing records and ensuring entries are as per required standards; and
  • assisting in the training of staff on EPN processing.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Diploma in Biological sciences;
  • Previous experience in mass production and formulation of Entomopathogenic Nematodes;
  • Good interpersonal skills;
  • Forward thinking and not afraid of challenges;
  • Good organising and planning skills;
  • Scientific report writing skills;
  • Proactive and able to work with little supervision and under constant pressure.
Training Officer
 
The Training Officer will be responsible for:
  • training design, content development and delivery in line with Good Agricultural Practices (GAP);
  • reviewing and updating of training reference materials to meet clients’ needs;
  • providing support to write advisory brochures, manuals, technical notes and other technical documents related to Company activities;
  • devising assessment tools for all competency based trainings;
  • ensuring effective communication and coordination of training events with the clients;
  • initiating and maintaining good working relations with clients and various stakeholders in the training and development sector to foster strong relationships and productive collaboration;
  • devising new ways of learning such as e-learning etc;
  • collecting, collating and maintaining a database on Training Programs; and
  • advocacy of training and other Dudutech’s activities.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Graduate in agricultural related field with a master of science degree being an added advantage;
  • Well versed with IPM/ICM principles as well as horticultural industry codes pertaining to GAP;
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills;
  • Good spoken and written Kiswahili and English languages;
  • Proficient in the use of a computer including knowledge of common packages.

We seek a dynamic, creative and committed programme officer to join our Health and Rights Program team covering East Africa.

This is a joint project of the Open Society Initiative for Eastern Africa (OSIEA) and the Open Society’s Public Health Program (PHP).

The position reports to the OSIEA Health and Rights Program Manager and four PHP initiatives: Global Health Financing, Access to Medicines Initiative (AEMI), Accountability in Health Monitoring (AHMI), and the International Palliative Care Initiative (IPCI).

OSIEA promotes vibrant and tolerant democracies whose governments are accountable to their citizens. 

OSIEA initiatives advance justice, free speech, public health, and independent media in the region.

Responsibilities
  • Strategy development: Jointly with the four PHP projects, identify opportunities to advance the work of OSIEA and PHP in Eastern Africa, develop a strategy to guide the grant making, advocacy and operational work
  • Advocacy and partnerships: Identify opportunities for advocacy and write and/or commission reports and advocacy documents to advance OSIEA and PHP goals
  • Grant-making: Keep abreast with developments in the field of health and human rights, identify opportunities for OSIEA and the four PHP projects for grant making
  • Skill Building: Develop and implement a plan to provide tailored technical assistance to grantees
  • Communication: Provide regular feedback and perspectives on regional context to PHP colleagues
Qualifications
  • At least eight years of professional experience in the field of public health, public policy, law or human rights in East Africa
  • Advanced degree in related field and demonstrated knowledge of human rights approaches to promoting health
  • Extraordinary initiative, creativity and capacity to think strategically
  • Ability to work effectively in a complex institution and manage several simultaneous projects in a fast-paced environment both locally and internationally without detailed daily supervision and as a member of a team
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a diverse array of people
  • Demonstrated skills in public speaking, presentations, research, writing, and editing for publication, as well as communications and media work
  • Strong organizational and management skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to distill program experience into compelling advocacy messages for governments and international institutions
  • Ability to manage conflict constructively
  • Team spirit and respectful working and decision-making style
  • Integrity, diplomatic manner and professional discretion essential
  • Frequent travel required

Reporting Relationship

Overall Job Purpose
 
To grow and expand Del Monte Branded Business in the Regional Export markets of Sub-Saharan Africa.

Functional Responsibilities
  • Achieve sales volumes, profit and market execution targets for regional Export markets.
  • Co-ordinate and co-operate with distributors to identify and expand distribution channels/networks with the view to increase visibility and availability of Del Monte products across all channels. Build and maintain excellent relationship with existing and potential new customers.
  • Design, organize and execute appropriate below the line programs and activities to support distributors and trade to drive consumption of Del Monte products.
  • Undertake Market research, surveys and related studies as and when requested by HQ and make appropriate recommendations on next course of action.
  • Provide input for and implementation for business plan for regional export markets.
  • Market development: grow Del Monte brand equity in export by ensuring product availability in all targeted outlets, create new outlets as per the business plan, deploy trade marketing equipment, execute Del Monte picture of success and continually review route to market and recommend improvements whenever deemed necessary.
  • Distributor management; Develop and execute annual business plan with major objectives of ensuring every distributor has capability efficiencies, proper outlet execution and expansion benchmarks and objectives are set and met through the execution of distributor plan.

  • At least 7-10 years in a sales and marketing management position with 5 years or more at a senior role with P&L responsibility.
  • Must have experience in managing a sales and marketing team in the FMCG sector.
  • Hands on experience in distribution channel development with good track record of channel management achievements in FMCG industry would be an essential competency.

FARM- Africa is seeking to recruit a dynamic and suitable individual to fill the position of a Program Accountant

The position will be based in Nairobi and will work closely with the Finance and Administration Manager, the Accountant, the Maendeleo Agricultural Technology Fund (MAEF) Coordinator, the Community Animal Health Network (CAHNET) Coordinator and the Programmes Operations Manager.
 
The role will be responsible for ensuring high standards of financial management within FARM-Africa Kenya with particular responsibility for office finances and regional projects managed from the Nairobi office.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • To maintain accurate payroll data and prepare the monthly payroll for the FARM-Africa Kenya Country office as per FARM- Africa policies and government regulations;
  • To maintain financial records for MAEF, CAHNET and other regional projects;
  • Prepare budgets and donor reports together with the MAEF and CAHNET Coordinators and field-based managers; and
  • Support the Finance and Administration Manager in ensuring sound financial management across the country programmes including compliance with FARM-Africa’s finance procedures manual.
Skills and Attributes:
  • Bachelors degree in commerce, business, finance or accounting; or
  • Professional qualifications such as ACCA or CPA (K);
  • Experience with donor reporting, project accounting and budgeting is mandatory;
  • Proficiency in SUN V5, Q & A and/or Quickbooks; and
  • Good communication, interpersonal and team playing skills are essential.
