Head of Logistics, East Africa
 
Location: Nairobi, Kenya.

As a key member of the Program Operations team you will be supporting the development of Save the Children’s strategic approach to logistics in the East Africa and identify and build the capacity of regional logistics staff.
 
You will work with Country Offices to build their logistics and operational capacity to plan and manage their resources and assets efficiently and effectively, ensuring that programmes meet their commitments and are accountable to their beneficiaries and donors. 

You will be providing technical support to Country logistics managers and Focal points on all aspects of logistics and operational programme delivery, in order to reduce operational costs and improve the quality and timeliness of projects.
 
Qualifications and Experience
  • 5 years or more experience in logistics management including 3 years managing humanitarian logistics in conflict or disaster affect countries
  • Experience in supply chain management including procurement, transport, warehouse and stock management and distribution
  • Experience in setting up fleet management systems including planning, monitoring running costs, pooling, developing replacement strategies.
  • Experience in the set up communications networks and procedures including HF & VHF radio systems, and satellite phones
  • Knowledge or working with major institutional donors, and understanding to their rules and regulations.
  • Computer literate (including working knowledge of MS Word, Excel) and competency in development of spreadsheets and databases
  • Appropriate training experience in developing skills
  • Experience in planning and managing budgets and projects
  • Ability and willingness to change work practices and hours in the event of major emergencies
  • Proven ability to handle challenging work load
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Fluency in English (required) and an additional language preferred
  • Willingness to travel 50% of the time to attend Global meeting, carry out programme visits and assessments and assist as needed in emergency response

IEBC - Investigation & Prosecutions Manager, Election Offences Prosecution Officers and Election Offences Investigation Officers Jobs in Kenya

 The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission(IEBC) is established under Article 88 of the constitution of Kenya with the mandate of conducting or supervising referenda and elections to any elective body or office established by the Constitution, and any other elections as prescribed by an Act of Parliament. 

Other duties include delimitation of electorate units, registration of voters, regulation of political parties, voter education, settling of electoral disputes and modernization and reforming of electoral processes and systems.

Duties
  • Effectively and efficiently manage the investigation and prosecutions department.
  • Prepare departmental work plans and ensure implementation of the same within set guidelines.
  • Monitor departmental work performance and ensure no back log on cases.
  • Supervise staff work performance in the department and ensure enhanced productivity.
  • Prepare budgets for the department and ensure proper utilization.
  • To supervise all prosecutions undertaken by the Commission and ensure cases are handled effectively.
  • To assist in Dispute Resolution handling process in the Commission.
 Qualifications and Experience
  • LLB Degree from a recognized university.
  • Diploma in Law from Kenya School of Law.
  • Admitted as an advocate in the High Court of Kenya.
  • At least 8 years’ experience, preferably in criminal prosecutions.
  • Ability to engage in Dispute Resolution.
  • Computer literate.
  • Team player.
  • Being an investigation officer or former prosecutor is an additional advantage.
2. Election Offences Prosecution Officer

  • Preparing pleadings and other materials.
  • Appearing in court to present evidence and argue the cases on behalf of the Commission.
  • Advise the commission where necessary on legal matters and undertake legal research.
Qualifications and Experience
  • LLB Degree from a recognized university.
  • Diploma in Law from Kenya School of Law.
  • Admitted as an advocate in the High Court of Kenya.
  • At least 6 years’ experience, preferably in criminal investigations.
  • Ability to engage in Dispute Resolution.
  • Computer literate.
  • Team player.
3. Election Offences Investigation Officer

Duties
  • Effectively and efficiently investigate election matters.
  • To supervise investigations undertaken by the commission
  • The collection, tabulation and recording of history and data concerning Criminal, undesirable and suspicious persons in electoral units relating to individual and matters calling for special enquiry.
  • Conducting and correspondence and interchange of reports on election matters with the commission.
  • The investigation of complicated criminal offences and furnishing of assistance to commission in cases of inquiries presenting difficult feature
  • The supervision, where desirable of individuals during election period.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Degree in criminology or any other related degree from a recognized university.
  • Being atleast a chief inspector or equivalent.
  • At least 6 years’ experience, preferably in criminal investigations.
  • Ability to engage in Dispute Resolution.
  • Computer literate.
  • Team player.
