Reporting To: World Cat South Africa Branch Manager

Mission of the Job:
  • Support the RUKINGA factory team with structural and technical know-how and ensure that PUMA production- and PUMA quality standards are met.
  • Ensure on time delivery through follow up on production status.
  • Supply guidance to enhance the factory’s skills and capabilities and to increase efficiency and expand capacity.
  • Ensure that the GBS order data is maintained correctly and timeously.
Core Accountabilities:
  • Support and guide the WILDLIFE WORKS team in setting up the new factory equipment
  • Support and guide the daily production routine in the RUKINGA garment factory.
  • Train an guide WILDLIFE WORKS team on PUMA’s quality standards and exercise final inspections on PUMA orders.
  • Support and guide the development process of PUMA styles.
  • Support and guide RUKINGA team in planning and follow up of pre-production process (fabrics, trims, accessories).
  • Establish smooth cooperation with PUMA’s international (and national) nominated trims-, accessories- and fabric suppliers.
  • Monitor and submit weekly WiP reports to WCZA office and verify production status at the factory to ensure on time delivery
  • Support RUKINGA team in managing P0’s in GBS System (PUMA internal order system)
Requirements/Qualification.
  • Extensive experience as Production Manager (or Consultant) in garment manufacturing industry.
  • Good know how in screen-/pigment printing.
  • Structured way of thinking and very good organizational skills.
  • Excellent team worker with good social networking skills and very good communication skills.
  • Good computer knowledge in Excel/Word, ability to quickly adopt new skills on company internal programs (GBS).
  • Open minded and positive personality, strong will with ability to get things done.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken, advantageous to speak Kiswahili and/or more Kenyan languages.

Production and Quality Control Manager

Wildlife Works is an innovative start-up company headquartered in California, USA that engages with the global carbon market to drive market-based solutions for wildlife and forestry conservation in rural areas around the world, Wildlife Works has established the world’s first and is currently still the only internationally verified project in Africa under REDD (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Degradation), a UN initiated carbon credit market program that has been touted as one of the most hopeful strategies to combat global warming.

The inaugural Kenya project area protects 500,000+ acres of forest and employs over 400 local workers in various industries including conservation, mechanics and fashion production. The eco-factory employs over 50 employees and produces up to 10.000 units per month.

Specific Responsibilities
  • The Production and Quality Control Manager manages the placement, execution and follow-up of samples and production orders by ensuring the timely delivery of quality, profitable goods.
Job Description
  • Manage and schedule all incoming factory jobs. Determine factory capacity and manage client deadlines.
  • Take projects and track them from design through production, ensuring that projects stay within deadlines and timelines.
  • Work with Design and Production teams to ensure correct execution of sample garments,
  • Ensure standards of quality and cost control are maintained throughout production: Execute quality control initiatives that adhere to production standards and requirements. Troubleshoot quality and technical issues regarding fabrication and construction.
  • Manage fabric inventory and coordinate the ordering of fabric needs. Keep inventory forms up to date with accurate quantities.
  • Act as a liaison between the factory and all parties involved by coordinating and communicating daily with Design Team, Fabric Vendors, Print Factory etc.
  • Assist in costing by insuring proper documentation of fabric yields, sewing times, printing etc. to ensure profitability.
  • Maintain data and files for all production matters,
  • Oversee and maintain an archive of patterns, garments and materials such as sew by samples, trims and fabric for ongoing in house production.
  • Perform special projects as assigned and contribute positively to the team dynamic. Manage up where necessary.
Skills and Requirement
  • 3-5 years experience in apparel production, knowledge of garment manufacturing, including construction, fabrication, trim and print techniques
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines, as well as analyze and solve problems; Able to communicate effectively with a variety of personality types
  • Bilingual preferred (SwahililEnglish)
  • Must have strong computer, and e-mail skills,
  • Experience in MS Word, Excel.

RTI International - Health Systems / Public Administration Advisor Job in Kenya

Health Systems / Public Administration Advisor

RTI International
is seeking applicants for a Health Systems / Public Administration Advisor position on the Health Policy Project (HPP). HPP is a USAID-funded project that strengthens developing country national and sub-national policy, advocacy, and governance for strategic, equitable, and sustainable health programming. HPP focuses on key health issues— family planning/reproductive health (FP/RH), HIV, and maternal health—while also promoting health systems strengthening and program integration. 

The Health Systems/Public Administration Advisor will provide technical support the Health Policy Project’s Kenya Field Program. The full-time position will be based in Nairobi, Kenya.

The Advisor provides technical assistance and support to the Government of Kenya (GoK) national-level health sector agencies to support implementation of the new constitution. 

He or She will provide technical advice on legislation, oversight, and accountability frameworks for health, including alignment of existing legislation with the constitution, and development of new legislation, regulation, and procedures. 

The incumbent will also assist the GOK health ministries to plan for, and carry out, reorganization, assist the health ministries/ministry to develop and disseminate policy briefs, guidelines, and operational tools for devolved management and governance, including a framework for monitoring progress and evaluating outcomes. 

The Advisor will also work with the relevant Interagency Coordinating Committees and their partners to coordinate plans for phased health sector devolution and provide technical assistance to selected county-level structures to plan and implement devolved health governance and management functions. 

He / She will support capacity building efforts for health ministry and other non-MOH actors to develop analytic and operational skills related to governance and management in a decentralized health system as well as participate in the development of annual work planning, design, implementation, and reporting related to project technical activities.

Applicants will possess a minimum of a Master’s Degree or higher in public administration, public health, public policy, or a related technical degree with at least 9-11 years of experience in applied public administration supporting decentralization and/or legislative reform efforts in East Africa and Kenya (including public management reform, intergovernmental relations, administrative systems change). Prior experience working with USAID-funded programs is preferred.
