VSO is seeking a senior manager capable of effectively leading the growth and management of VSO Ethiopia’s new holistic and integrated program in accordance with the Country Strategic and Program Plans.

Working within the Programme’s team and reporting directly to the Country Director, you will be responsible for delivering quality programming for education, health and livelihoods in Ethiopia.

You will bring leadership to the countries operational planning, monitoring and evaluation, donor and organizational reporting, and partnership development and review processes. In collaboration with the country director and regional support you will lead the programmes team to develop and deliver a funding plan.

Working with in-country operations support, you will champion a vibrant and positive volunteer community that is empowered and supported to work effectively with local partners and actively engage in ongoing programme development, implementation, and review.

You will be a role model in resource and risk management of VSO Ethiopia in as far as managing the programme team’s human and financial resources as well as other programme resources.

We are seeking qualified candidates who can demonstrate strong communication, team working, planning and organization, leadership and people management skills.

Key to the role is experience and expertise of programme work with substantial senior level programme leadership and management experience in a complex INGO touching on our key programme areas in Ethiopia.

Job profile

Reporting to Management Committee, the General Manager will have the following duties:
  • Reviewing and formulating policies, procedures and practises for SACCO operations.
  • Maintaining proper books of accounts, records and registers for all SACCO transactions.
  • Directing and supervising the administration and processing of loans.
  • Ensuring effective management and use of Sacco financial resources and assets.
  • Preparation and reporting of timely and accurate financial reports.
  • Giving prudent financial advice to the SACCO.
  • Preparing and analysing on a quarterly basis the society’s business plans and budgets.
  • Coordinating external audit exercises and implementing recommendations set forth.
  • Representing the society in business transactions and any other transactions authorized by the management committee.
  • Attending Management Committee Meetings and Annual General Meetings in an advisory capacity and implementing the resolutions made.
  • Carrying out such other duties as prescribed in the rules/by-laws or directed by the Management committee.

The candidate must possess the following qualifications:
  • A Business related Degree.
  • CPA 1/ACCA
  • Minimum of five (5) years working experience in a busy Financial institution preferably within the Co-operative Movement.
  • Diploma ¡n Co-operative Management will be an added advantage.
  • Computer literacy in accounting packages.
  • Combined knowledge in General Management/Administration as well as Accounting.
  • Good communication skills both oral and written.

Job Purpose

For aircraft maintained by ALS Ltd
  • To carry out and/or certify routine, unscheduled and corrective maintenance on Bombardier Dash 8 and/or Beechcraft 1900 series aircraft, as permitted by the company authorization:
  • Assist in carrying out routine, unscheduled and corrective maintenance on other aircraft types.
  • Have a minimum of three years experience.
  • Certifying Engineer on the Dash 8 and PW 120 series.
  • Must be willing to work outside Kenya on rotation.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensure that work is carried out to the required specification and standards;
  • Ensure that regulatory and safety requirements are met;
  • Supervision of staff as required
  • Other duties as directed by the Base Maintenance Manager and/or Line Maintenance Manager.

Minimum Qualification
  • Kenyan Civil Aviation Authority basic “A” and “C” (turbine) License;
  • Having received initial type training on:
    •  Bombardier Dash 8 classic series, incl. P & W PW100 series engines;
    •  Beechcraft 1900 series, Incl. P & W PT6A series engines;
  • At least 2 years of type –related practical experience, base and line Maintenance, in the capacity of certifying engineer.

The Kenyan Civil Society Strengthening Program (KCSSP) is a grant-making and capacity-building program jointly implemented by Pact and ACT! Pact developed KCSSP in 2006 to strategically target those NGOS and other civil society actors with the greatest potential to build large constituencies for critical reforms needed in the democratic governance, conflict resolution and natural resource management (NRM) sectors.

KCSSP maintains data from activities reported by partner CSOs and has been implementing a database system that centralizes entry and access to this data by all program staff. 

This system facilitates timely provision of information for decision making and reporting to various identified audiences. As such, the information should conform to five key data quality criteria i.e. timeliness, validity, integrity, reliability and precision.

Purpose of the position
  • The Database operator will standardize and coordinate the entry of data and mining of information, as well as maintain database integrity primarily in the Pact/KCSSP database which requires a good working
  • knowledge of relational databases (SQL), and basic programming skills. 
  • In addition, he/she will provide
    primary desktop and software-related technical support for problem resolutions. 
  • He/she will provide backup support to the IT Officer with server administration, user account maintenance, network security, system documentation, and help-desk support functions; and participate in planning for future upgrades and technology enhancements.
