Workshop Supervisor

Key Responsibilities:
  • Full responsibility of workshop team and their daily functions (the areas of work would include products like air compressors/gear boxes/chemical injection pumps/small motor repair/ electric actuators/ gen instrument repair/breathing air compressors, and overhead industrial cranes) both in the workshop and at site.
  • Responsibility to review and present the inspection report for each equipment.
  • Addressing all performance and deliverable issues with staff.
  • Assess status of machines and parts follow up with admin.
  • Identify what spares and other additional works require
  • Allocation of the daily jobs and effective administration.
  • Provide high level technical support to workshop team.
  • Provide unit team with necessary tools, i.e. manuals, identifying training needs.
  • Perform quality check on machines prior to the delivery.
  • Provide all the relevant paperwork.
  • Discipline and productivity responsibility of staff members
  • Daily feedback to Supervisor/Manager.
  • Ensure machines are stored efficiently.
  • Responsible for maintaining high standards of housekeeping, and ensuring HSE practices are adopted and maintained continuously.
  • Attend and conduct morning workshop meetings.
Inherent Requirements:
  • 3 years Diploma in Mechanical engineering.
  • 10 years hands-on experience industrial maintenance field.
  • 5 years Supervisory (Foreman) experience by supervising minimum of 20 employees
  • Ability to effectively communicate (written and verbally) in English
  • Computer Literacy - MS Office Suite (Word/Excel/Power Point/Outlook)
  • Strong supervisory skills
  • Strong administration skills
  • Able to develop and maintain strong relationships with Internal staff & external customers.
  • Must be highly organized and able to plan him and the team
  • Must have flexibility to work extended hours whenever is required
  • Must be flexible to attend customer calls any days in a week.

  • Skilled in troubleshooting and corrective repairs on critical problems within less downtime.

Summary:

The position is responsible for providing leadership in all security-related issues for the Programme through developing and applying enforcing security controls and procedures so as to minimize risk and provide a safe and secure environment for Programme employees, partners and resources. 

This position will enable Programme staff and partners to execute their responsibilities in a safe and appropriate manner and to ensure that the Programme follows appropriate security management procedures.

Reporting Lines:

The post holder will report to the Head of Facilities and Transport.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain security procedures, systems and plans which enable the Programme to operate safely and effectively (including communications systems, emergency preparedness etc). Lead development of Programme security policy for approval by Programme management.
  • Regularly assess security updates and threats and provide recommendations on Programme planning and decision making in relation to these.
  • Monthly update to management on security situation and arrangements at the Programme, including areas deemed necessary for improvement so as to ensure a continuous safety of Programme employees, partners and resources.
  • Monitor travel advisories and provide travel risk assessment for Programme staff and partners.
  • Management of externally-sourced security providers by ensuring that all security activities are conducted efficiently and professionally (personnel, alarm and monitoring equipment).
  • Management of security controls and procedures so as to provide a safe environment for Programme employees, partners and resources
  • Programme focal point of contact for security and emergency agencies and services, maintaining close relationships and providing information on local conditions.
  • Ensure that Programme rules and regulations in regards to entry and exit of persons are strictly observed.
  • Any other security-related duties assigned by management.
Skills and Competence:

Qualifications:

First degree from a recognised University (graduate from the Armed Forces Staff College considered as an equivalent academic attainment).

Experience and other skills:
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the armed forces or police (at least three years at captain
  • Inspector rank or equivalent) or 5 years’ experience in similar position in other organizations
  • Valid driving license with experience for over two years
  • General knowledge of Kenyan laws and government regulation pertaining to law enforcement.
  • Computer literate (Microsoft Word and Excel)
  • Valid Certificate of Good Conduct
  • Fluency in Kiswahili and English
Desirable Criteria:
  • Experience in uniformed services and experience in research or non-profit organizations.
  • Additional training in the following areas - basic surveillance, security management,
  • Criminology, disaster and risk management, first aid, and fire fighting.
Competencies:
  •     Proven written and oral communication skills to varied audiences
