Kenya Seed Company - Head of Internal Audit and Head of ICT Jobs in Kenya

Kenya Seed Company is a strategic state corporation mandated to avail sufficient quantities of certified seed in the country.

The company has three subsidiaries in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania and controls over 80% of the seed maize market share in Kenya making it a key player in the government strategy on food security.

The Company is in the process of strengthening its ICT and Internal Audit functions and therefore seek to recruit results oriented individuals with self drive and zeal for creativity to fill the vacancies as follows;

1. Head of Internal Audit

Reporting to the Board of Directors and Managing Director, the job holder will carry out audit activities in accordance with International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF).

Key duties and responsibilities
  • Plan, organize and carry out the internal audit function including the preparation of an audit plan which fulfils the responsibilities of the Audit Department, scheduling and assigning work and estimating resources/skills requirements.
  • Perform risk-based information systems audits/reviews as per the annual audit plan or as directed by the Managing Director and/or the Board.
  • Assess risks inherent in the Company’s information systems and assist management in development of practical action plans for controls improvement.
  • Independently communicate audit results to management and the Board to obtain commitment to implementation of controls needed to manage risks effectively and remain aligned to the Company’s strategy.
  • Implement, monitor and evaluate agreed processes and system controls as directed by the Managing Director and the Board.
  • Participate in the discussions and development of the annual risk-based audit plans specifically highlighting information security risk areas that need attention.
  • Provide support to all Company processes to ensure the overall system audit opinion incorporate the risks identified in the underlying information systems.
  • Ensure that the Company’s automated systems and information technology are in compliance with the Company’s policies, procedures and other requirements.
  • Review and recommend policies, processes and framework for managing enterprise-wide risks to promote a risk management culture through reporting and other internal communications.
  • Provide oversight and support to business functions and management to ensure that risks are properly managed across the Company and branches.
  • Analyze key risks and support management to deliver adequate mitigating controls and actions.
  • Communicate Internal Audit activities, plans and resource requirements to management and the Board.
  • Ensure compliance with International Audit Standards.
  • Manage the internal audit department and prepare reports to the Managing Director and the Board
Qualifications, experience and capabilities
  • Bachelors degree in commerce (accounting) or its equivalent from a recognized University
  • CPA (K)
  • Relevant masters degree.
  • Certified Internal System Auditor (CISA) qualification.
  • At least 10 years experience in auditing, 5 of which must be at Senior Management level in Systems Auditing.
  • Team player with demonstratable leadership skills.
  • Be of unquestionable integrity
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills
  • Good working knowledge of office systems software.
2. Head of ICT

Reporting to the Managing Director, the job holder will have the overall management responsibility of ICT function and solutions, including implementation of an ERP system for maximum automation as well as innovation in business processes and service delivery.

Key duties and responsibilities
  • Provide leadership in ICT capacity building in the Company
  • Ensure requirements for all products & services are integrated into ICT solutions developments.
  • Participate in the formulation of the ICT strategy and roadmap.
  • Contribute in the development of the Company’s Strategic and annual plans.
  • Review/improve and implement the Company’s ICT policy
  • Provide communication network technologies in business continuity strategies
  • Develop, implement and maintain systems standards
  • Carry out gap analysis to establish areas for computerisation.
  • Prepare progress reports on the systems development.
  • Evaluate systems and ensure adherence to established performance standards.
  • Design, build & test ERP components e.g. interface, conversion and report programs.
  • Monitor interfaces to windows 2003 server and Ms SQL 2005 Database.
  • Provide support to existing and new applications for development by creating modifications and enhancements for ERP applications and perform high level system design.
  • Conduct business user requirements analysis and specification.
  • Advise on computer system requirements.
Qualifications, experience and capabilities
  • Degree in Computer Science or equivalent from a recognized university.
  • Professional qualifications in Systems development
  • A Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Sciences or any other related field from a recognized University.
  • At least 10 years’ experience as a systems developer or analyst in a busy IT environment 5 of which should be at senior management level.
  • Knowledge of business strategy and project management of ICT solutions.
  • Demonstrate competence in implementation and management of an ERP system
  • Experience with MS SQL Server and Oracle databases.
  • Experience in processes and procedures management.
  • Proficient in web portal services
  • Team player with demonstratable leadership skills.
  • Be of unquestionable integrity.
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills.

Requirements
  • MBBS from a recognized University
  • At least one- year working experience
  • Must be Registered/Licensed by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentist Board.
  • Competency in emergency procedures e.g. ACLS, ATLS etc will be an added advantage.

Physiotherapist

Overall Responsibilities

Reporting to the physiotherapist In charge the successful candidate will work with both in and out patients to improve their movement and exercise, participate in ward rounds , clinical agenda of the hospital and promote overall wellness of the patients.

Requirements
  • Diploma in Physiotherapy from KMTC or any other recognized institution.
  • Must be registered and licensed by the Kenya Society of Physiotherapists.
  • At least two years working experience in a busy health facility.
  • Knowledge of computer packages will be an added advantage.

Reporting to the Legal Manager the job holder will be responsible for:
  • Reviewing and vetting facility letters, agreements, security and other legal documents for borrowing customers;
  • Drafting and reviewing templates, standard forms, service level agreements, contracts, security documents and other relevant documents;
  • Providing guidance on the Bank’s litigation matters;
  • Providing sound legal advice to staff in respect to banking and other related issues;
  • Liaising with the Bank’s legal service providers and ensuring external legal activities and engagements are coordinated and effective;
  • Ensuring statutory and contractual compliance by the Bank; and
  • Assisting the Legal Manager with other assigned duties.
Qualifications, knowledge and Experience:
  • Have a law degree from a recognized University and current practicing certificate;
  • Be an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a minimum of 2 years post qualification experience preferably in a financial institution or a busy law firm acting for banks/financial institutions;
  • Have some basic litigation as well as commercial/conveyancing experience in drafting basic contracts, reviewing security documents, Leases, preparing litigation files and attending court on preliminary matters;
  • Have knowledge of court rules and procedures;
  • Must be a hard worker and team player, able to work under pressure with minimal supervision and be able to meet deadlines; and
  • Should have excellent organizational and analytical skills.
