Position Scope

Reporting to the Head of Risk Assurance and Compliance, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing effective and efficient logistical and administrative support to the company.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administering and overseeing the office requirements related to procurement and operations.
  • Assisting with preparation of business presentations i.e. texts, overhead and electronic presentations.
  • Assist in planning, scheduling and organizing meetings.
  • Designing, maintaining and archiving files.
  • Interfacing with various departments to collect information and responding to requests.
  • Compiling and distributing staff meeting minutes.
  • Taking part in administrative duties and special projects as required.
  • Attending to customer enquiries.
Qualifications /Competencies/ Experience

The ideal candidate must possess the following qualifications, experience and competencies: -
  • A Bachelors degree in Business administration /Secretarial studies or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a similar position.
  • Excellent command of English language both verbal and written.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and manage own workflow.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Must be mature, well organized, reliable and able to work under pressure

Forest Officer

Position Scope

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Operations the successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring and evaluating KTDA / Factories’ wood fuel projects and ensuring adherence to stipulated land acquisition and development procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervising the management of wood fuel projects.
  • Coordinating feasibility/economic analysis of proposed projects.
  • Participating in the review of wood-fuel land procurement procedures.
  • Participating in the enhancement of financial controls of projects.
  • Coordinating, monitoring and evaluating economic factors around wood fuel projects.
  • Preparing timely and accurate reports on the performance of projects and recommend areas of improvement.
  • Undertaking research on market changes, impacts and strategies.
  • Identify Strategic partners and other business ventures.
  • Observing and complying with environmental health and safety measures.
  • Providing technical support to factories and contracted firewood farmers.
Qualifications /Competencies/ Experience

The ideal candidate must possess the following qualifications, experience and competencies.
  • BSc. Forestry.
  • At least 3 years experience in Forestry Management.
  • Computer Literate.
  • Good communication, conceptual, interpersonal and analytical skills.
  • Valid driving license.

VSF Belgium - IT Manager Job in Nairobi, Kenya

VSF Belgium is a recognized developmental International NGO founded in 1995 working with disadvantaged communities to increase their standards of living, improve food security and livelihood sustainability through improved animal health and animal production in East Africa.

Our programmes focus on community based animal health services, capacity building of local institutions and governments, conflict mitigation and sustainable natural resource management.

Position Title: Information Technology (IT) Manager

Duty Station: Nairobi, Kenya

Duration: 1 year, renewable

Availability: Immediately

Role: Provide technical IT and Information Management Support to the Regional Office and the
field locations.

Main Responsibilities and Duties
  • Responsible for the management and administration of all the servers within VSF Belgium.
  • Participating in the definition, designing, testing and implementation of new IT hardware and software standards for VSF Belgium.
  • Manage all the databases that run in the main server.
  • Responsible for the management of databack-ups in regional office and field location.
  • Manage the VSFB helpdesk in the Nairobi and Field Offices by giving comprehensive technical support
  • Responsible for all the I.T related equipment and records.
  • Responsible for maintenance and troubleshooting the area networks within VSF Belgium.
  • Manage the antivirus application within the organization.
  • Train and capacity build the staff on basic I.T skills.
  • Participation in I.T related procurements and tender committees within VSF Belgium.
  • Maintenance of the VSF Belgium Document Management systems (DMS).
  • Participate in the development of VSF Belgium I.T policies and procedures and ensure they are adhered to by all users.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with relevant legislations e.g. copyright and intellectual property.
  • Participation in project proposal planning and development.
  • Coordinate the development of the knowledge management within VSF Belgium.
Essential or Minimum Requirement

Education: University Degree in IT related field

Knowledge and experience
  • At least 3 years relevant working experience.
  • Applicants with Professional Certificates such as MCSE and MSQL 2005 are highly desirable.
  • Microsoft windows 2003/2008 server/MS Exchange Server 2003/2007/ ISA server 2006.
Skills
  • Extensive knowledge of PC hardware\software support, configuration and troubleshooting;
  • Extensive knowledge of Networking (LAN)
  • Knowledge of client server technology and general network connectivity and maintenance issues (e.g., servers, switches, routers, Ethernet cabling, PABX support)
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and facilitation skills.
